When subordinate items were analyzed it was found that the librarians perceived that the role that libraries are playing in the education area is expanding and their impact on reading and literacy is becoming greater and greater. Libraries were viewed as essential elements for education and the education system. When the difference in perception related to the impact of libraries was compared by types of libraries, the librarians in public libraries tended to rate their facilities higher than the librarians working in universities on most of the items.

  • The rapid development of information and communication technologies has resulted in rapid increase in the qualitative and quantitative information that can be accessed by information technology. Furthermore an enormous amount of information is provided in various formats. However, there are a group of people who are not able to even approach to targeted information due to physical or environmental problems. Visually handicapped users constitute a class of these users. In this paper, a method of developing user interface for web-based education service is described for the visually handicapped users to access information more efficiently. First, this paper analyzed the problems of visually handicapped users to access information targeting representative domestic sites that supply education services. And based on the results of the above analyses, Nest, this paper explains the web-based education service interface implementation method according to types of the content to be delivered. Lastly, the validity of this method is provided by testing a web page based on the implementation method according to the types of content.

To achieve this goal, concepts and applicability of the podcasting is discussed. Previous studies on foreign language education are reviewed and the cases on Korean language education based on technology using mobile phones are investigated. Some of the outstanding merits of the podcasting are found to be its accessibility, mobility and variability along with its room for control by the learners. It also enables the learners to be motivated and to enhance their learning ability. In addition, the podcasting with the content-based instruction is applied for the foreign students majoring in business and its results and implications are discussed. Based on the above results of this study, more active discussions are expected on such issues as educational designs through the podcasting, related variables and the performance evaluation.

  • Media improvisation among lecturers in colleges is inevitable because of insufficient media resources for utilization. The study investigated media improvisation in the state -owned colleges of education in the South-West, Nigeria. The study is anchored on Media Richness Theory. Stratified sampling technique was adopted to select 812 lecturers. Media improvisation scale (r = .71) was used for data collection and T-test statistical method was adopted for data analysis. The result showed that there was no significant differences between media improvisation of Art/Social Science and Science lecturers (Crit - t = 1.96, Cal. t = 821, df = 278, p>.05) and that of lecturers in the School of Art/Social Sciences and Vocational/Technical Education (Crit. t = 1.96, Cal. t = .136, df = 276, p>.05). Significant difference did not exit between that of the Schools of Languages and Education (Crit. t = 1.96, Cal. t = 1.946, dif. = 288 p<.05) . It is recommended that media improvisation of lecturers in schools should be encouraged and improved upon.

  • Educational technology (ET) and learning sciences (LS) are two related disciplines that have shared interests in studying technologies for advancing human learning. This study conducted a content analysis of articles published in authoritative academic journals, Educational Technology Research and Development (ETR&D) and Journal of the Learning Sciences (JLS) from 2003 to 2012. By selecting and examining 93 issues with 429 articles during this decade with three analytical frameworks, the purpose of this study is to determine research trends precisely and create a scientific communication and theoretical connections for these two disciplines. The illustrated results indicate the dialogue between these two communities has begun yet accompanied by some certain limitations, whereas, they still need be more cooperative and communicational to move towards further integration, so as to contribute to promoting progressive education, learning theory and practice.

  • The core of subject matter education is determined by the choice of subject matter taught to students and by the organization of content according to educational objectives. The purpose of this research is to suggest ways to improve the present content of science education so as to prepare students and schools for a radically different future. We deduced the main issues the solution of which could lead to significant improvements in the contents of science education by analyzing previous studies and investigating the changes in content that were effected during curriculum revisions in the past. The main issues thus revealed through this study are as follows: the essence of the contents of subject matters in science education, the social and cultural background of change in the science curriculum, the rational steps on the way to choosing contents as part of the science curriculum, the processes of choosing the main contents of each subject, the international comparative study of contents, the updating of contents for the benefit of future society, and the reorganization of subject contents. In order to find a concrete improvement on the issues deduced, we organized an expert group. Then, we proceeded to collect and analyze the experts' opinions. A survey was administered to 19 science education experts working with universities and colleges of education. We examined their degree of agreement on the issues and problems, and on the steps that may be taken to us the improvements on these issues. we suggested that: collecting opinion and reaching an agreement on the essence of the contents of the subject matters in science education, the necessity to choose core contents within the scientific domain, developing a structure map in order to integrate and connect various subject domains, presenting explicitly the objective of inquiry by grades, moving toward integrating science contents, diversifying the construction of science textbooks.
