Recently, as demand of video processor unit rapidly increases, excellent quality of the video has been required. However, generally, video data occurs the quick flame of video due to various external causes in process of acquisition, treatment, and transmission, and major cause of the quick flame of the video is known as the noise. There are various kinds of noise, which are added to the video, AWGN is a typical one. Thus, this thesis suggested algorithm that treats in three methods by scale of the edge through using edge information of local masks. In case that edge pixel is big, it applied spatial weighting according to equation of straight line about direction of edge pixel. In case that edge pixel is middle, it suggested algorithm with spatial weighting filter and average filter, and for the smooth territory, it suggested algorithm that treats with average filter.

The extinction characteristics of low strain rate normal gravity (1-g) nonpremixed methane-air flames were studied numerically and experimentally. A time-dependent axisymmetric two-dimensional (2D) model considering buoyancy effects and radiative heat transfer was developed to capture the structure and extinction limits of 1-g flames. One-dimensional (1D) computations were also conducted to provide information on 0-g flames. A 3-step global reaction mechanism was used in both the 1D and 2D computations to predict the measured extinction limit and flame temperature. A specific maximum heat release rate was introduced to quantify the local flame strength and to elucidate the extinction mechanism. Overall fractional contribution by each term in the energy equation to the heat release was evaluated to investigate the multi-dimensional structure and radiative extinction of 1-g flames. Images of flames were taken for comparison with the model calculation undergoing extinction. The two-dimensional numerical model was validated by comparing flame temperature profiles and extinction limits with experiments and ID computation results. The 2D computations yielded insight into the extinction mode and flame structure of 1-g flames. Two combustion regimes depending on the extinction mode were identified. Lateral heat loss effects and multi-dimensional flame structure were also found. At low strain rates of 1-g flame ('Regime A'), the flame is extinguished from the weak outer flame edge, which is attributed to multi-dimensional flame structure and flow field. At high strain rates, ('Regime B'), the flame extinction initiates near the flame centerline due to an increased diluent concentration in reaction zone, which is the same as the extinction mode of 1D flame. These two extinction modes could be clearly explained with the specific maximum heat release rate.
An analytical expression for the turbulent burning velocity is derived from the asymptotic zone conditional transport equation at the leading edge. It is given as a sum of laminar and turbulent contributions, the latter of which is given as a product of turbulent diffusivity in unburned gas and inverse scale of wrinkling at the leading edge. It was previously shown that the inverse scale is equal to four times the maximum flame surface density in the wrinkled flamelet regime [1]. The linear behavior between $U_T$ and u' shows deviation with the inverse scale decreasing due to the effect of a finite flamelet thickness at higher turbulent intensities. DNS results show that $U_T/S^0_{Lu}$ may be given as a function of two dimensionless parameters, $u'/S^0_{Lu}$ and $l_t/\delta_F$, which may be transformed into another relationship in terms of $u'/S^0_{Lu}$, and Ka. A larger $l_t/{\delta}_F$ or a smaller Ka leads to a smaller scale of wrinkling, hence a larger turbulent burning velocity in the limited range of $u'/S^0_{Lu}$. Good agreement is achieved between the analytical expression and the turbulent burning velocities from DNS in both wrinkled and thickened-wrinkled flame regimes.

In a premixed flame stabilized by a streamlined step, the flame structure and combustion characteristics were investigated to identify the effect of the pressure pulsation in a combustion air. A flame stabilizing limits, visualization, mean temperature, ion current and gas concentration (O$_{2}$, CO$_{2}$, CO, UHC) were measured. With the combustion air of higher pressure pulsation, the development of the mixing layer was fast and wide, the temperature and combustion intensity were higher at arbitrary section. But, the effect was notably decreased with X=150 mm downstream. And a first eddy formation from step edge was earlier. Thus, with the combustion air of higher pressure pulsation, high rate of heat generation was expected.
The stabilization mechanism of turbulent, lifted jet flames in a non-premixed condition has been studied experimentally. The objectives are to explain the phenomenon of a liftoff height decreasing as increasing fuel velocity and to reveal the mechanisms of flame stability Hydrogen was varied from 100 to 300 m/s and a coaxial air was fixed at 16 m/s with a coflow air less than 0.1 m/s. The technique of PIV and OH PLIF was used simultaneously with CCD and ICCD cameras. It was found that the liftoff height of the jet decreased with an increased fuel jet exit velocity. The leading edge at the flame base was moving along the stoichiometric line. Finally we confirmed that the stabilization of lifted hydrogen diffusion flames is related with a turbulent intensity, which means combustion is occurred where the local flow velocity is equal to the turbulent flame propagation velocity.
The morphology of deposits on $15-{\mu}m$ thin SiC filaments has been investigated with SEM and compared with UV-excited laser induced broadband fluorescences in co-flowing, propane laminar diffusion flames in a reduced oxidizer environment. The homogeneous morphology of droplet-like deposits inner flame zone and the agglomeration of condensed-phase deposits and the transition to soots from grown up droplet-like precursors with approaching the flame surface can be observed in a barely sooting flame. The average size of the mature soots deposited in the luminous flame edge is scarcely dependent on their axial position in a confined flame under reduced oxidizer condition. A double structure of PAH fluorescence is observed in near-extinction flames with further decreasing of oxidizer. A comparison of the PAH fluorescence with the morphologies of deposits indicates that appearance of the "dark" hollow zone is caused by a decreased number density of developed liquid-phase large molecules and the outer weak fluorescence zone is caused by the diffusion of gas-phase small molecules.
Flame structure, which contains a useful information for studying combustion instability of the flame, is often quantitatively visualized with PLIF (planar laser-induced fluorescence) and/or chemiluminescence images. The latter, a line-integral of a flame property, needs to be preprocessed before being inverted, mainly due to its inherent noise and the axisymmetry assumption of the inversion. A preprocessing scheme utilizing multi-division of ROI (region of interest) of the chemiluminescence image is proposed. Its feasibility has been tested with OH PLIF and $OH^*$ chemiluminescence images of SNG (synthetic natural gas) swirl-stabilized flames taken from a model gas turbine combustor. It turns out that the multi-division technique outperforms two conventional ones: those are, one without preprocessing and the other with uni-division preprocessing, reconstructing the SNG flame structure much better than its two counterparts, when compared with the corresponding OH PLIF images. It is also found that the Canny edge detection algorithm used for detecting edges in the multi-division method works better than the Sobel algorithm does.

Flame structure and extinction mechanism of counterflow methane/air non-premixed flame diluted with nitrogen are studied by NASA 2.2 s drop tower experiments and two-dimensional numerical simulations with finite rate chemistry and transport properties. Extinction mechanism at low strain rate is examined through the comparison among results of microgravity experiment, 1D and 2D simulations with a finite burner diameter. A two-dimensional simulation in counterflow flame especially with a finite burner diameter is shown to be very important in explaining the importance of multidimensional effects and lateral heat loss in flame extinction, effects that cannot be understood using a one-dimensional flamelet model. Extinction mechanism at low strain rate is quite different from that at high strain rate. Low strain rate flame is extinguished initially at the outer flame edge, the flame shrinks inward, and finally is extinguished at the center. It is clarified from the overall fractional contribution by each term in energy equation to heat release rate that the contribution of radiation fraction with 1D and 2D simulations does not change so much and the overall fractional contribution is decisively attributed to radial conduction ('lateral heat loss'). The experiments by Maruta et at. can be only completely understood if multi-dimensional heat loss effects are considered. It is, as a result, verified that the turning point, which is caused only by pure radiation heat loss, has to be shifted towards much lower global strain rate in microgravity flame.
Experimental study on comparison of diffusive-thermal self-excitation with buoyancy-driven one due to accumulation of partially premixed, preheated mixture in front of edge flame was conducted in horizontally and vertically injected laminar free-jet flames with an applied DC electric field of -10 kV. The application of horizontal injection method with the DC electric field to jet flames was experimentally designed to suppress heat-loss-induced self-excitation and thereby to highlight the definite difference between both diffusive-thermal and buoyancy-driven self-excitations with the same order of O(1.0 Hz), in that diffusive-thermal self-excitation has not been so far found experimentally in laminar jet flames. Flame stability maps in vertically and horizontally injected jet flames are presented. The distinct modes of individual self-excitation are shown to be well described by their own phase diagrams. The results show that buoyancy-driven self-excitation due to the accumulation of partially premixed, preheated mixtures in front of edge flame is branched from the buoyancy-induced self-excitation with O(10 Hz) due to a flame flicker. Once the buoyancy-driven self-excitation appears, it suppresses buoyancy-induced as well as diffusive-thermal self-excitation. The key characteristics for individual self-excitation are discussed and their functional dependencies of Strouhal number upon related physical parameters are also presented.

In the present paper, the swirl flow structure and flame characteristics of turbulent premixed combustion in a model gas turbine combustor are investigated using large eddy simulation(LES). A G-equation flamelet model is employed to simulate the unsteady flame behavior. When inlet swirl number is increased, the distinct flow structures, such as the shapes of corner recirculation and center toroidal recirculation zone, are observed and the flame length is shorted gradually. Also, the phenomena of flashback are identified at strong swirl intensity. In order to get the accurate description of unsteady flame behavior, the predictive ability of the acoustic wave in a combustor is primarily evaluated. It is found that the vortex generated near the edge of step plays an important role in the flame fluctuation. Finally it is examined systematically that the flame and heat release fluctuation are coupled strongly to the vortex shedding generated by swirl flow and acoustic wave propagation from the analysis of flame-vortex interaction.
