  • In this study, economic analysis of five desalination technologies for saline agricultural land was carried out. The analysis was comprehensively evaluated by calculating changes in crop production and benefit/cost (B/C) ratio. The analysis of crop production was in the order of tomato > cucumber > a (musk) melon > watermelon > cabbage, and economical efficiency for desalination technology was in the order of soil exchange > soil addition > electrokinetics > under-drainage > subsoil reversal. In cost benefit analysis, B/C ratio was in the order of under-drainage > soil exchange > electrokinetics > soil addition > subsoil reversal, and all desalination technologies used in this study have the ratio higher than 1, which means economical efficiency was high. Based on the net production considering B/C ratio, the general economic analysis was exactly order from that of crop production analysis. As a result, economical efficiency of soil exchange was highest, and economical efficiency of soil addition and electrokinetic was relatively higher than others.

  • This study aims to examine the patterns of middle-aged parents' intergenerational support exchange with their adult children and its effects on the happiness of the parents. The sample consisted of 765 middle-aged parents selected from the National Survey of Korean Families by the Ministry of Equality and Family in 2010. The results were as follows. First, intergenerational support exchange between parents and their adult children was categorized into four groups depending on the provider of support: parents who exchanged no support with their children, parents who only received support from their children, parents who only provided support to their children, and parents who exchanged support with their children. Second, parents who exchanged no support with their children were high in instrumental support and those who both provided and received support were high in emotional support. Third, consciousness of their children significantly affected the satisfaction level of their relationship with their children. The more the parents emphasize on the growth of their children, the more they were satisfied. Parents in the support exchange group were more satisfied when they received economic support from their children. With regard to instrumental and emotional support, parents were more satisfied when they provided support to or mutually exchanged support with their children. Forth, subjective health conditions, consciousness of their children, and household's income more significantly affected the happiness of middle-aged parents than the patterns of intergenerational support exchange. With regard to economic support, parents who only received support from their children were less happy than the other groups. With regard to instrumental support, parents who exchanged no support with their children were happier than the other groups. With regard to emotional support, parents who provided support to their children were happier than the other groups.

  • Zeolites are aluminosilicates with a three dimensional framework structure enclosing pores occupied by cation and water molecules, both of which have considerable freedom of movement within certain limits. The ability of zeolites to exchange cation is one of the mere useful of their characteristics. The ion exchange condition of zeolites strongly affects absorption as well as other properties. The application, techniques of identification and evaluation of clinoptilolite, chabazite, mordenite and phillipsite are reviewed.

  • At the moment, Korea has faced a big challenge to an economic crisis due to higher exchange rate against foreign currency. In order to escape from this type of economic crisis quickly, our professional engineers have to do every endeavor to develop the basic material industries so that we could produce our product with a competitive price. If we were not victorious in this of borderless game, we would be hungry again very shortly.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate and forecast the marine trading volumes based on the structural model. We employ GPH cointegration test since the structural model must be stationary to get the accurate predicted values. The empirical results show that our model is stationary. This paper also applies variance decompositions and impulse-response functions to the structural model composed of exchange rate, domestic industrial activity, and world business. The results indicate that while both loading and unloading volumes respond positively to the shocks in income and then decay very slowly, their responses are different to the shocks in exchange tate.

  • Transportation routes by land like a human being blood vessel should exist for economic and trade exchange in Northeast Asia. Thinking from this point of view. I believe that TSR(Trans Siberian Railroad) and TCR(Trans Chinese Railroad). which will be connected with I would like to talk about .not only the effects of various international railroads and their connections but also economic activation TKR(Trans Korean Railroad). can play important roles. In this study, and effects in Northeast Asia which will be resulted from various international railroads construction. I tried to figure out comparative superiority and comparative advantage of the trade structure and industries in South and North Korea to find out the possibility of economic unification in East Asia. especial1y in Northeast Asia. This study also includes the effort to find out how trade exchange between South and North Korea can be expanded as a result of being a member of East Asia economic zone.

  • This paper examines the effects of global liquidity expansion on advanced and emerging economies by using panel VAR methodology. The results show that global liquidity expansion tends to boost economy by increasing GDP growth and stock prices. However, we find that the effects are asymmetric. The effects of global liquidity on GDP and stock prices are greater and more persistent in emerging economies than in liquidity recipient advanced economies. Moreover, global liquidity appreciates emerging economies' exchange rates more persistently than those of advanced economies. Lastly, while global liquidity expansion increases foreign portfolio investment inflows to Asian countries and liquidity recipient advanced economies, there is no evidence for Latin American countries.

  • This paper examines when a consumer in existent telecommunication 2G applies to new telecommunication service 3G from the viewpoint of an option pricing theory. To improve telecommunication quality of service, the consumer applies to 3G. The application means an exchange of 2G for 3G with extra costs such as searching and conversion costs. Since the option to exchange is a right that the consumer can exercise or not, application to 3G is deemed an exercise of the option to exchange at most suitable value of the option. The timing to exercise the option depends on the extra costs and the additional communication benefit from new telecommunication quality of service. These affect an optimal timing to apply to 3G. The optimal applying or switching timing to 3G is when an economic value of the option to exchange is equal to an economic value of the extra costs plus the additional telecommunication quality from new telecommunication service. The option analysis used in this paper is applicable to various industries.

  • Geo-special technologies are being adopted in variety fields since the 3rd NGIS plan that was started at 1996. However, the required system or structure to guarantee the up-to-date validity and accuracy of the geospatial data - the most fundamental elements of the technology - was not constructed yet. All the activities related to geospatial data, including topographical map and numerical base map, are all implemented in separate way; from change of geographical objects and features, data gathering, and database construction to distribution, transfer and sharing of these data. The data model that links all the activities are required that enables consistent data-flow and effective and systematic work-flow. In this study, economic data renewal and exchange method was proposed, and benefit-cost analysis was implemented by comparing the conventional work-flow to newly proposed work-flow. The case study was implemented using the model that was adopted in Daegu metropolitan city, and the model was developed by reflecting these results.

  • This paper, the accumulation of foreign exchange reserves in the financial systems of emerging markets mid-to long-term impact on how investigated. The accumulation of foreign exchange reserves in emerging markets is a highly effective means to prevent the recurrence of another financial crisis as well as to minimizing risks of financial crisis. By examining the economic effects of excessive accumulation of foreign exchange reserves on factors such as foreign liabilities, domestic consumption, domestic investment and economic growth from a mid-to long-term perspective, it reduced domestic consumption, but on the other hand, led to the expansion of the trade-related industries based on increase of exports. Although China implements a policy to substantially increase domestic investment, other emerging market countries have stagnant domestic investment activities due to excessive accumulation of foreign exchange reserves. Such fact signifies that excessive accumulation of foreign exchange reserves increases potential risks by depressing the mid-to long-term economic growth through the scale down of trade-related industries.
