  • In this paper the efficient channel models of the subscriber loops for the ISDN U-interface digital transmission are presented. Several configuration medels of the loop network are adopted from the CCITT recommendations, and various parameters specifying the physical dimensions are determined in accordance with the measurements of the loop characteristics of Korea. A typical loop interfacing circuit is applied at both ends of the loops and the overall transmissing circuit model is obtained. Based on this circuit model of transmission. 3 types of signal path models, related to transmission, echo, and near end crosstalk noise are defined and their transfer function are respectively derived as the channel models. As examples of the proposed channel models, numerical calculation has been performed for some loop configuration models and the channel responses are investigation in both domains of frequency and time. It is shown that various changes of the loop characteristics can well be explained in terms of the proposed models. And these models can efficiently be used for the simulation of the digital transmission over the subscriber loop.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the cardiovascular manifestations and clinical course in patients with acute carbon monoxide poisoning. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted over a 36 month period on consecutive patients who visited an emergency medical center and were diagnosed with acute carbon monoxide poisoning. A standardized data extraction protocol was performed on the selected patients. Results: A total of 293 patients were selected during the study period. Cardiac manifestations were observed in 35.2% (n=103) of the patients: hypotension in 11 patients (3.8%), ECG abnormalities in 44 patients (15.0%) and cardiac enzyme abnormalities in 103 patients (35.2%). Echo cardiography was performed on 56 patients with cardiac toxicity: 12 patients had abnormal results (5 patients with global hypokinesia and 7 patients with regional wall akinesia). Five patients died within 3 hours after ED admission, and the remaining patients were discharged alive. At 3 months after discharge, none of these patients had died. The SOFA scores in the severe cardiac toxicity group and non-severe cardiac toxicity group at the time of arrival were $2.53{\pm}2.29$ and $2.19{\pm}2.12$, respectively (p=0.860). Conclusion: Cardiovascular manifestations occur after acute CO poisoning at arateof 35.2%. Even those with severe cardiovascular toxicity recovered well within 10 days after admission. Therefore, the importance of cardiac toxicity after acute CO poisoning is not significant in itself in the clinical course, and the short-term prognosis of cardiac toxicity is unlikely to be unfavorable in acute CO poisoning.

  • Objective: The displacement of the hyoid bone (HB) is a critical biomechanical component of the swallowing function. The aim of this study was to evaluate the swallowing-induced vertical and horizontal displacements of the HB in subjects with 2 different magnitudes of skeletal Class III malocclusion, by means of real-time, balanced turbo-field-echo (B-TFE) cine-magnetic resonance imaging. Methods: The study population comprised 19 patients with mild skeletal Class III malocclusion, 16 with severe skeletal Class III malocclusion, and 20 with a skeletal Class I relationship. Before the commencement of the study, all subjects underwent cephalometric analysis to identify the nature of skeletal malformations. B-TFE images were obtained for the 4 consecutive stages of deglutition as each patient swallowed 10 mL of water, and the vertical and horizontal displacements of the HB were measured at each stage. Results: At all stages of swallowing, the vertical position of the HB in the severe Class III malocclusion group was significantly lower than those in the mild Class III and Class I malocclusion groups. Similarly, the horizontal displacement of the HB was found to be significantly associated with the severity of malocclusion, i.e., the degree of Class III malocclusion, while the amount of anterior displacement of the HB decreased with an increase in the severity of the Class III deformity. Conclusions: Our findings indicate the existence of a relationship between the magnitude of Class III malocclusion and HB displacement during swallowing.

  • Detection of an underwater target by acoustic wave raises various difficulties due to unpredictable noise interference which originates from clutter, reverberation, and variations of medium characteristics with time and location. The SNR and the range resolution of conventional SONAR systems using a matched filter are generally poor, since the latter is optimum only in the additive white noise case. Furthermore, it cannot compensate for variations of the detection level which are responsible for the resultant detection errors. In this paper, the unpredictable interferences are compensated for by using an adaptive filter. It recursively estimates the channel impulse response based on the received echo signal. In the low noise environments, the estimated impulse response is close to the true one, providing a good range resolution, and a matched filter is used subsequently for the purpose of detection. It is shown through computer simulation that good performance can be achieved via the two steps of filtering. Also, the detection level remains unchanged without any additional provisions. Finally, we present the characteristics of the employed adaptive filter parameters.

  • In this study, In this study, the Datum Level-based hydrography surveying system and the ellipsoid-based system were analyzed to acquire more consistent depth data. For the study, the ellipsoid-based surveying for hydrography was conducted twice for the same track line. And the depth was calculated by correcting rise and fall of water level (water level change by tidal energy and other marine environmental energies) respectively by the traditional water level correction method and ellipsoidally referenced water level correction method. there is able to check that Ellipsoid-based hydrographic surveying data is more improved than Datum Level-based hydrographic surveying data in aspect of level difference phenomenon in the same area (surveying line). This result shows that if the Ellipsoid-based hydrographic surveying is performed, the sea level change (tidal energy and other marine environmental energy) of the survey area in real time could be reflected to more consistent generating bathymetric data.

  • Recently, industrial values of big data as an important force of future society have been vastly paid attention. At the same time, more concerns about their private informations' disclosure online still echo around us, especially for them who have experiences of their personal information open online. This study aims to examine the questions; how people think about their personal information revealed online?; how much they have 'psychological reactance'?; what attitudes they have toward a certain governmental regulations on this? The findings of this study indicate that we should have more attentions to protect 'privacy' in the age of big-data and still need to make a lot of efforts to prepare a feasible regulation guide on this issue.

  • It was the year of 1903 when avantgarde artists in Vienna gave a birth to the Wiener Werkstaette under the influence of Aesthetic Movement and Guild of Handicraft from England. This study is on the backgrounds of the birth of the Wiener Werkstaette its artis-tic motto and world-wide echo it provoked. This thesis goes back to the time when the decadent Wiener Secession shaped up refiewing the Reform Movement It also covers characteristics works of major members of the Wiener Werkstaette which were produced on the basis of the concept of Gesmtkunstwerk, The conclusion of this study is that : 1. Without losing its own specifc features various fields of formative arts were combinded together coherently and succeeded to realize the idealistic art that is the com-posite are 2. The Wiener Werkstaette was strongly opposed to the ready-made clothes which be-came popular as the society was Industrialized and commercialized. unlike those ready-to-wear clathes those members of the Wiener Werkstaette preferred to make each clothes with different mateirals and printed their own unique pattern designs. 3.As a results of close relationships between the Wiener Werkstaette and paul poiret 'Stu-dio Martine' was established in paris and new pattern deslhns were introduced by Raoul Dufy. 4. After the break-out of World War One cultural exchanges with other foreign countries were vuirtually cut off and the Wiener Werkstaette was disconnected from the influence of Parisl That was the motive for Wiener Werkstaette to start building up its unique artistic style with peculiar materials techniques and methods of productionl Those brisk and creative activities of the Wiener Werkstaette brought forth "the Golden perlod of 1920s" 5. Its historic design and ornamental pattern were assessed as a prelude to the Post-mod-ernism Since the late 1970s with the redis-covery of the culture of vienna in 1900s. the Art to wear which was created by the 'Wiener Werkstaette' but unfortunately tucked away by the Greate Depression and nationalism has been revaluated and studied. In Korea it was since 1985 when 'the art to wear' began to gain attention widely. It is urged that the theory of the 'Gesamtkunstwerk' should be also ac-cepted and shared earnestly.

  • Purpose: Brain surface intensity model (BSIM)-based cortical thickness analysis does not require complicated 3D segmentation of brain gray/white matters. Instead, this technique uses the local intensity profile to compute cortical thickness. The aim of the present study was to evaluate intra-rater and inter-rater reliability of BSIM-based cortical thickness analysis using images from elderly participants. Materials and Methods: Fifteen healthy elderly participants (ages, 55-84 years) were included in this study. High-resolution 3D T1-spoiled gradient recalled-echo (SPGR) images were obtained using 3T MRI. BSIM-based processing steps included an inhomogeneity correction, intensity normalization, skull stripping, atlas registration, extraction of intensity profiles, and calculation of cortical thickness. Processing steps were automatic, with the exception of semiautomatic skull stripping. Individual cortical thicknesses were compared to a database indicating mean cortical thickness of healthy adults, in order to produce Z-score thinning maps. Intra-class correlation coefficients (ICCs) were calculated in order to evaluate inter-rater and intra-rater reliabilities. Results: ICCs for intra-rater reliability were excellent, ranging from 0.751-0.940 in brain regions except the right occipital, left anterior cingulate, and left and right cerebellum (ICCs = 0.65-0.741). Although ICCs for inter-rater reliability were fair to excellent in most regions, poor inter-rater correlations were observed for the cingulate and occipital regions. Processing time, including manual skull stripping, was $17.07{\pm}3.43min$. Z-score maps for all participants indicated that cortical thicknesses were not significantly different from those in the comparison databases of healthy adults. Conclusion: BSIM-based cortical thickness measurements provide acceptable intra-rater and inter-rater reliability. We therefore suggest BSIM-based cortical thickness analysis as an adjunct clinical tool to detect cortical atrophy.

  • The speech transmission quality in telephone is quantified in terms of loudness rating, but this method has been validated only for the handset telephony. The transmission quality of loudspeaking telephony in any room must be evaluated not only with speech transmission but also with background noise, echo and reverberation since the effect of room acoustics is much stroger for loudspeaking telephoy. Therefore, it requires a better approach to specify the quality of loudspeaking telephony. By calcuating the speech transmission index (STI), a physical method for measuring the quality of speech transmission was proposed by Steeneken. In this paper, the application of a STI method for estimating articulation of loudspeaking telephony was discussed. And the STI measurement system with high speed calculation was also three rooms, having different reverberation times. The result show that the STI decreases as the reverberation time of rooms increases. It suggests that speech transmission index method can be useful evaluating articulation of a loudspeaking telephony including the sound field characteristics.

  • Bathymetry survey around the Baengnyeong-do was made by the Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration (KHOA), using the Simrad EM3000 Multi-Beam EchoSounder (MBES) mounted at the hull of the R/V Badaro 1. Sound velocity were monitored with frequent sound velocity profiler(SVP) casts during the acoustic measurements. The depth distribution and fluctuation of thermocline varied locally owing to the effect of several current flows such as Kuroshio current and Yellow sea coastal waters. These uncertainties cause the falling-off in accuracy of MBES results. In this paper, the bathymetry results will be presented and their accuracy will be discussed along with comparisons to the time and spatial variations in sound velocity profile.
