  • Consumers' great demand for foreign apparel products created a new rapidly growing type of distribution channel that substitute traditional roles of importers. Most of the merchandise selling at this new type of e-mall are apparel and accessories. But, little study focuses on this new e-shopping mall. This study was designed to examine SISM(surrogate internet shopping mall) shopping behavior of apparel by analyzing purchase motives and consumer satisfaction and compare these variables with GISM(general internet shopping mall) shopping behavior. 166 SISM consumers and 166 GISM consumers responded for the study. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, and regression were used far statistical analysis. Results indicated that there were significant mean differences of purchase motive and consumer satisfaction between SISM and GISM consumers. Regression analysis showed that purchase motives had significant influence on consumer satisfaction for SISM and GISM consumers.

  • This study analyzed the pressure, subjective wearing comfort, and design preference of brassiere shoulder straps among women in their 20s and 40s. Experimental clothing was made by different shoulder strap designs on a brassiere. In the four designs (A-D), the front attachment points of the shoulder straps were the same, but the back attachment points were different. Three of them (E, E1, E2) were of a halter neck design, with different front attachment positions. The pressures of A-D were measured at the position passing through the shoulder line (P1), and E-E2 was measured at the back neck (P2) as well as at P1. Subjective wearing comfort and design preference were rated on a 7-point Likert scale. A was determined to exert the highest pressure at the neck side of the design in the pressure measurement analysis of A-E2, whereas E1 exerted the lowest. E was measured to have the highest pressure among the E-E2 designs, whereas E2 had the lowest. Participants preferred A the most and E the least in regards to the subjective wearing comfort of A-E. Thus, participants deem A to be the most comfortable despite the high strap pressure. However, E was the most favored design, despite its poor wearing comfort. Participants' subjective impressions of E-E2 were that E2 was the most uncomfortable, but its design was the most preferred. Consumers' design preferences and subjective impressions of wearing comfort did not match.

  • Rubia cordifolia L (Indian madder) contains red color purpurin (65-67%) and yellow color munjistin (10-12%) as well as nordamncanthal (9-10%). Purpurin is a traditional red dye. The purpose of this research is to increase the dyeability of silk and light fastness of dyed silk fabric. We dyed silk fabrics after pretreatment to remove the yellow component of madder using various solvents such as ethyl acetate, ethanol, methanol, chloroform, and acetone. The total K/S value was the highest in the case of chloroform and reflectance was the lowest at the red color region from 470nm to 530nm. Chloroform dissolved the yellow color of Rubia cordifolia; in addition, we found that the total K/S value increased and the ${\Delta}E$ value decreased by chloroform pretreatment for silk dyeing.

  • Consumers have more choices for apparel products as e-shopping grows. This study examines the importance of apparel product attributes and classifies online apparel buyers into groups based on product attribute evaluation in various choice sets. For the empirical research, the online survey was conducted and Latent Gold Choice 4.0 was used for the choice-based conjoint analysis. Five consumer segments are found based on the choice selection of product attributes. The importance of product attributes (online shopping mall, brand, price, and style) and the preference of each product attribute level were different across segments. This research improves the knowledge of the purchasing behavior of online apparel buyers and provides proper attribute combinations of apparel e-shopping for each consumer segment.

  • By introducing chitosan treatment prior to dyeing, examination was given to the effect of chitosan coated on the surface of fabrics on the color change of dyed fabric based on th e change of ${\Delta}E$, a*, and b* values. At the same time, the dyeing mechanism of Caesalpinia sappan dyestuff was predicted by the investigation of the change of air-permeability ac cording to the chitosan treatment. The change of elution was investigated by the examination of the elution of metallic ions employed as mordants after soaking dyed fabrics in the solution of alkaline perspiration ba sed upon the fact that chitosan carries excellent absorption ability toward metallic ions.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze research trends and make suggestions regarding the future of information technology (IT) in the fashion industry. In this study, 437 papers written regarding IT fashion from five major journals published between 2000 and 2011 were examined. The research areas were then organized by subject and keyword, and divided into 16 high-context categories. Two IT fashion maps were constructed, one from a fashion consumer's perspective, and the other based on the fashion industry's supply chain. This study identified important trends in IT fashion such as: 3D scanners, 3D digital renderings of the human form, 3D digital garments, smart garments, mass customization, production automation, online shopping, home shopping, online communities, e-commerce, digital media, virtual reality, e-tail, the digital generation, E-CRM, and education. Data from body scans was collected and applied to production, and research on smart textiles was also carried out. As for IT fashion's service areas, the majority of the research focused on online shopping or online communication. Additionally, research done on avatars and cyber space, and studies on social networking services are shown. The results of this study indicated that a new field of research has opened and that current research has been developing. Also, this study showed what is needed to expand and strengthen IT fashion.

  • Fashion industry constantly produces and consumes, which leads to huge waste piles of perfectly usable textiles in landfills, as well as other negative effects of an exploitative and excessively rapid fashion process. Pollution created by making and dyeing clothes has pitted fashion industry and environmentalists against each other. In this context, upcycling is seen as an optimal way to solve the growing problem of waste in fashion industry. The first purpose of the study was to analyze the relationships between upcycling fashion products' perceived value, pro-environmental beliefs, attitudes, electronic word of mouth (eWOM) intention, and purchase intention. The second purpose is to verify the difference of perceived consumption value among the consumers' awareness level and purchase experience. A total of 258 valid responses obtained from a group of 20-30-year-old participants were collected through an online survey. SPSS 23.0 and Amos 18.0 programs were used for data analysis. The results of the present study suggest that there are significant effects of upcycling fashion products' perceived value on pro-environmental belief; furthermore, pro-environmental belief was found to positively influence attitude, eWOM intention, and purchase intention. In addition, there are differences of perceived consumption value among the consumers' awareness level and purchase experience. Taken together, the results of this study provide researchers and practitioners with a deeper understanding of consumers' values, beliefs, attitudes, and behavioral intentions towards upcycling fashion products.

  • The convenience and flexibility due to the spread of Internet allowed consumers to easily participate in marketing activity. Consumers want to participate in designing, manufacturing, delivering of products and service by expressing their opinions to the companies because they want to buy customized goods where their requirements are incorporated. We can expect that, through this interactive process of customization between consumers and companies, strong relationship quality may be built as a result of the interaction. The main purpose of this study is to examine the influence of consumer perception of customization on relationship quality in the e-business context. To accomplish this purpose, I reviewed the concept of customization, identified the perceptive factors of customization in e-business context (i.e., perception of participation level, assessment of flexibility), and examined the type of customization. Whether customization type generates varying degrees of perception of customization and relationship quality is revealed. As a result, collaborative product/service customization generated the highest relationship quality. Assembled product customization that was built based only on predicted consumer needs without any interaction between consumer and company showed a low level of relationship quality. And this type had no significant difference from standardized products. In short, there is a strong need for e-business companies to interact with consumers to improve relationship quality.
