  • The survey method was used in this descriptive study. The purpose in this study was to investigate middle school home economics(HE) teachers' stages of concern, levels of use, and perception about career education, based on the Concerns Based Adoption Model(CBAM). Questionnaire was administrated to middle school HE teachers over the whole country except Jeju Island through mail or e-mail by systematic random sampling. 118 data collected from the responses were finally analyzed statistically with mean, standard deviation, frequencies, percentage, and independent-sample t-test by using SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. The results of the study were as follows: First, most-HE teachers were in stages of the personal concern (86.56) and the informational concern(85.42) about HE career education. Second, the highest number of teachers was in level of refinement(33.1%) use. Third, teachers recognized important goal of HE career education as 'understanding of diverse careers and formating of positive values and attitude about work'. Also they had generally conducted HE career education through 'Understanding Teenager' chapter of a first-year middle school. However they had struggled with difficulty such as lack of data, time, and expertise in conducting HE career education. Therefore, it is necessary that support such as development, supplies, and training opportunities of career education should be provided.

  • Objectives : The concurrent use of Korean Medicine (KM) and Western Medicine (WM) for the management of disease are increasing. In this study, the factors determining the choice of concurrent use of KM and WM was investigated based on national survey data for the public. Methods : Survey data from 1239 people with experience treating diseases with KM were utilized for this study. The national survey data were gathered using e-mail and face-to-face interviews between December 2007 and January 2008. Results : Among people who had been treated with KM, 819 (66%) used both KM and WM to the treat same disease. Multivariable analysis revealed that concurrent users of KM and WM were significantly associated with age 40-69 (OR=1.43, 95% CI=1.12-1.82), university education or higher (OR=1.34; 95% CI=1.05-1.71), enhanced health status (OR = 0.47, 95% CI=0.35-0.62) and unsatisfied with WM (OR = 1.71, 95% CI=1.02-2.87). The respondents that reported KM was more effective than WM among concurrent users of KM and WM were significantly associated with being an office worker (OR=1.78, 95% CI=1.25-2.53), age 40-69 (OR = 0.62, 95% CI=0.44-0.86), unsatisfied with WM (OR=2.61, 95% CI=1.51-4.50) and overall satisfied with KM (OR=8.38, 95% CI=5.65-12.44) Conclusions : This study showed that two-thirds of KM user were concurrent user of KM and WM, and some influential factors determined the choice of a concurrent use of KM and WM. Therefore, Korean Medicine Doctors should consider the possibility of concurrent use, need to know the information on the benefits and risks of concurrent use.

  • The New Way of Working (NWOW) is changing the world in which we work today. The principles of NWOW are based on freedom of time and place to work, and steering on output (results) instead of input (presence). As NWOW is a relatively new phenomenon, research on the effect of NWOW on knowledge sharing in organizations is scarce. In this research two multiple-case studies were performed to investigate the effect of the New Way of Working on knowledge. In the first study (A) different knowledge sharing scenarios were used at organizations that were in the process of implementing NWOW. This provided the opportunity to compare the sharing of knowledge between 'NWOW workers' and employees that still worked in the traditional way (non-NWOW workers). In total 216 scenario results were evaluated to determine differences in channel choice between the traditional and new work environment. For the second study (B) a Knowledge Sharing Framework was developed, based on the theories of Nonaka and Alavi & Leidner. This framework was used to determine the type of knowledge shared, e.g. tacit or explicit knowledge, in 84 situations. Additionally, to measure the level of NWOW adoption, a NWOW Analysis Monitor was used. The results show that NWOW workers use more different communication channels than traditional workers. When knowledge workers become more mobile, they will exchange knowledge less explicit (codified) and more tacit (personalized), use less face-to-face communication, but more video calls and e-mail. The adoption of the principles of NWOW seems to have a balancing effect on the knowledge that is shared in a tacit and explicit way, which in the view of Scheepers et al. is an effective knowledge sharing strategy. The research results show organizations need to realize that the New World of Working is affecting the way knowledge is shared. Missing out on this development may result in the loss of important knowledge and impact the operation of organizations.

  • Phishing attacks have been implemented in smarter, more advanced ways with the passage of time. Hackers use intelligent phishing attacks to take over computers and to penetrate internal networks in major organizations. So, in this paper, a model for a prevention of phishing attack spread is conceptual designed in order to protect internal users and sensitive or important information from sophisticated phishing attacks. Internal users simultaneously utilize both external web and organizational mail services. And hackers can take the both side equally as a vector. Thus, packets in each service must be monitored and stored to recognize threatening elements from both sides. The model designed in this paper extends the mail server based security structure used in conventional studies for the protection of Internet mail services accessed by intranet users. This model can build a list of phishing sites as the system checks e-mails compared to that of the method that directly intercepts accesses to phishing sites using a proxy server, so it represents no standby time for request and response processes.

  • The study proposed an electronic journal retrieval model to be used to improve the retrieval efficiency of e-journals. To do this, firstly, we reviewed the literature on users' information behavior and on ERM (Electronic Resource Management) systems. Secondly, we conducted an e-mail survey of 96 participants (professors and graduate students) to find out about their information behavior on how to access, use and evaluate electronic resources as well as scientific information. Thirdly, we administered case studies on two ERMSs, Ex Libris' Verde and Innovative's Millennium. The proposed model will be operated within ERM systems and it enables to the supply of both system- and user-based services by combining taxonomy-based ERM systems with tag folksonomy. The model is unique in that it includes not only the automatic tagging functions that can be performed using log files but also the tag management functions including grouping similar or related tags.
