This paper focuses on to improving object detection performance using the camera and LiDAR on autonomous vehicle platforms by fusing detected objects from individual sensors through a late fusion approach. In the case of object detection using camera sensor, YOLOv3 model was employed as a one-stage detection process. Furthermore, the distance estimation of the detected objects is based on the formulations of Perspective matrix. On the other hand, the object detection using LiDAR is based on K-means clustering method. The camera and LiDAR calibration was carried out by PnP-Ransac in order to calculate the rotation and translation matrix between two sensors. For Sensor fusion, intersection over union(IoU) on the image plane with respective to the distance and angle on world coordinate were estimated. Additionally, all the three attributes i.e; IoU, distance and angle were fused using logistic regression. The performance evaluation in the sensor fusion scenario has shown an effective 5% improvement in object detection performance compared to the usage of single sensor.
Recently, there have been a lot of researches on the whole face replacement system, but it is not easy to obtain stable results due to various attitudes, angles and facial diversity. To produce a natural synthesis result when replacing the face shown in the video image, technologies such as face area detection, feature extraction, face alignment, face area segmentation, 3D attitude adjustment and facial transposition should all operate at a precise level. And each technology must be able to be interdependently combined. The results of our analysis show that the difficulty of implementing the technology and contribution to the system in facial replacement technology has increased in facial feature point extraction and facial alignment technology. On the other hand, the difficulty of the facial transposition technique and the three-dimensional posture adjustment technique were low, but showed the need for development. In this paper, we propose four facial replacement models such as 2-D Faceswap, OpenPose, Deekfake, and Cycle GAN, which are suitable for the Cox platform. These models have the following features; i.e. these models include a suitable model for front face pose image conversion, face pose image with active body movement, and face movement with right and left side by 15 degrees, Generative Adversarial Network.
In this study, using the tasks related trigonometric functions, the degree of high school students' understanding of the function concept was examined through the level of Hitt(1998). First, the degree of the students' understanding was classified by level, then the concept understanding was reclassified by the process or the object. As a result, high school students' concept understanding showed incompleteness in three stages. It was possible to know that the process in the interpretation of the graph is the main perspective, and the operation of algebraic representation is regarded as important. Based on these results, it seems necessary to study the teaching-learning method which can understand trigonometric functions from various perspectives. It seems necessary to study a lesson model that can reach function concept's understanding level 5 that maintains consistency between problem solving and representation system.
Along with the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, fostering young talents with convergent mind is getting important. Moreover pre-service teachers' ability to design proper convergent classes can be a meaningful issue for high quality future education. This study proposes the role of professors' exquisite feedback is so significant for developing their competence in STEAM education, It analyzed how various theories regarding feedback support them to enhance convergent knowledge with e-learning. They participated in the 5 step group and individual activities for creating STEAM lesson plan and received suitable feedback. Lastly a survey was performed. The researchers did modeling how integrative feedback was applied to the procedure step by step according to the 'Ladder of Inference' theory. This strategic model contributed to elevating the participants' convergent knowledge, competence, achievement and satisfaction.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Diet planning in childcare centers is difficult because of the required knowledge of nutrition and development as well as the high design complexity associated with large numbers of food items. Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to provide diet-planning solutions via automatic and effective application of professional knowledge, addressing the complexity of optimal diet design. This study presents the results of the evaluation of the utility of AI-generated diets for children and provides related implications. MATERIALS/METHODS: We developed 2 AI solutions for children aged 3-5 yrs using a generative adversarial network (GAN) model and a reinforcement learning (RL) framework. After training these solutions to produce daily diet plans, experts evaluated the human- and AI-generated diets in 2 steps. RESULTS: In the evaluation of adequacy of nutrition, where experts were provided only with nutrient information and no food names, the proportion of strong positive responses to RL-generated diets was higher than that of the human- and GAN-generated diets (P < 0.001). In contrast, in terms of diet composition, the experts' responses to human-designed diets were more positive when experts were provided with food name information (i.e., composition information). CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to demonstrate the development and evaluation of AI to support dietary planning for children. This study demonstrates the possibility of developing AI-assisted diet planning methods for children and highlights the importance of composition compliance in diet planning. Further integrative cooperation in the fields of nutrition, engineering, and medicine is needed to improve the suitability of our proposed AI solutions and benefit children's well-being by providing high-quality diet planning in terms of both compositional and nutritional criteria.

Ocean surface currents have an essential role in the Earth's climate system and significantly impact the marine ecosystem, weather patterns, and human activities. However, predicting ocean surface currents remains challenging due to the complexity and variability of the oceanic processes involved. This review article provides an overview of the current research status, challenges, and opportunities in the prediction of ocean surface currents. We discuss the various observational and modelling approaches used to study ocean surface currents, including satellite remote sensing, in situ measurements, and numerical models. We also highlight the major challenges facing the prediction of ocean surface currents, such as data assimilation, model-observation integration, and the representation of sub-grid scale processes. In this article, we suggest that future research should focus on developing advanced modeling techniques, such as machine learning, and the integration of multiple observational platforms to improve the accuracy and skill of ocean surface current predictions. We also emphasize the need to address the limitations of observing instruments, such as delays in receiving data, versioning errors, missing data, and undocumented data processing techniques. Improving data availability and quality will be essential for enhancing the accuracy of predictions. The future research should focus on developing methods for effective bias correction, a series of data preprocessing procedures, and utilizing combined models and xAI models to incorporate data from various sources. Advancements in predicting ocean surface currents will benefit various applications such as maritime operations, climate studies, and ecosystem management.
Recently we frequently analyze multivariate data with quite large number of variables. In such data sets, virtually duplicated variables may exist simultaneously even though they are conceptually distinguishable. Duplicate variables may cause problems such as the distortion of principal axes in principal component analysis and factor analysis and the distortion of the distances between observations, i.e. the input for cluster analysis. Also in supervised learning or regression analysis, duplicated explanatory variables often cause the instability of fitted models. Since real data analyses are aimed often at multiple purposes, it is necessary to reduce the number of variables to a parsimonious level. The aim of this paper is to propose a practical algorithm for selection of a subset of variables from a given set of p input variables, by the criterion of minimum trace of partial variances of unselected variables unexplained by selected variables. The usefulness of proposed method is demonstrated in visualizing the relationship between selected and unselected variables, in building a predictive model with very large number of independent variables, and in reducing the number of variables and purging/merging categories in categorical data.

In South Korea, the results of R&D in science and technology are submitted to the National Science and Technology Information Service (NTIS) in reports that have Korea national science and technology standard classification codes (K-NSCC). However, considering there are more than 2000 sub-categories, it is non-trivial to choose correct classification codes without a clear understanding of the K-NSCC. In addition, there are few cases of automatic document classification research based on the K-NSCC, and there are no training data in the public domain. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first attempt to build a highly performing K-NSCC classification system based on NTIS report meta-information from the last five years (2013-2017). To this end, about 210 mid-level categories were selected, and we conducted preprocessing considering the characteristics of research report metadata. More specifically, we propose a convolutional neural network (CNN) technique using only task names and keywords, which are the most influential fields. The proposed model is compared with several machine learning methods (e.g., the linear support vector classifier, CNN, gated recurrent unit, etc.) that show good performance in text classification, and that have a performance advantage of 1% to 7% based on a top-three F1 score.

The stock market is affected by unexpected factors, such as politics, society, and natural disasters, as well as by corporate performance and economic conditions. In recent days, artificial intelligence has become popular, and many researchers have tried to conduct experiments with that. Our study proposes an experiment using not only stock-related data but also other various economic data. We acquired a year's worth of data on stock prices, the percentage of foreigners, interest rates, and exchange rates, and combined them in various ways. Thus, our input data became diversified, and we put the combined input data into a nonlinear autoregressive network with exogenous inputs (NARX) model. With the input data in the NARX model, we analyze and compare them to the original data. As a result, the model exhibits a root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.08 as being the most accurate when we set 10 neurons and two delays with a combination of stock prices and exchange rates from the U.S., China, Europe, and Japan. This study is meaningful in that the exchange rate has the greatest influence on stock prices, lowering the error from RMSE 0.589 when only closing data are used.
In Web environment, a flood of spam causes serious social problems such as personal information leak, monetary loss from fishing and distribution of harmful contents. Moreover, types and techniques of spam distribution which must be controlled are varying as days go by. The learning based spam classification method using Bag-of-Words model is the most widely used method until now. However, this method is vulnerable to anti-spam avoidance techniques, which recent spams commonly have, because it classifies spam documents utilizing only keyword occurrence information from classification model training process. In this paper, we propose a spam document detection method using a characteristic of repeating words occurring in spam documents as a solution of anti-spam avoidance techniques. Recently, most spam documents have a trend of repeating key phrases that are designed to spread, and this trend can be used as a measure in classifying spam documents. In this paper, we define six variables, which represent a characteristic of word repetition, and use those variables as a feature set for constructing a classification model. The effectiveness of proposed method is evaluated by an experiment with blog posts and E-mail data. The result of experiment shows that the proposed method outperforms other approaches.
