  • Learning Diagnosis & Prescription Service(LDPS) in Cyber Home Learning System is a educational service which provides customized learning contents based on student's academic level and individualized counseling and comments after diagnosing learner's study habits beyond the past e-Learning systems which offer the same contents to different students. For a national point of view, it is a crucial project in public education to achieve the goals of the next-generation e-Learning service by making a lot efforts both in time and money. However, those efforts has been made, not in terms of providing a better quality of service and a better user experience in a effective and enjoyable way, but in terms of developing the technology-driven system. Therefore, in this study, two types of usability evaluations has been conducted in order to enhance a user experience on the LDPS. One is the expert reviews by utilizing the usability evaluation tools (heuristics) which was focused on educational contexts developed by Suh Young-suhk(2007). The other is the user testing with students who have done think-aloud during the evaluation, remembering their retrospective experience with LDPS, and the interview with teachers & service operators were conducted. As the implications on the research, this is an effort to provide an user-friendly educational system for the students nationwide.

Improving Human Activity Recognition Model with Limited Labeled Data using Multitask Semi-Supervised Learning (제한된 라벨 데이터 상에서 다중-태스크 반 지도학습을 사용한 동작 인지 모델의 성능 향상)

  • A key to a well-performing human activity recognition (HAR) system through machine learning technique is the availability of a substantial amount of labeled data. Collecting sufficient labeled data is an expensive and time-consuming task. To build a HAR system in a new environment (i.e., the target domain) with very limited labeled data, it is unfavorable to naively exploit the data or trained classifier model from the existing environment (i.e., the source domain) as it is due to the domain difference. While traditional machine learning approaches are unable to address such distribution mismatch, transfer learning approach leverages the utilization of knowledge from existing well-established source domains that help to build an accurate classifier in the target domain. In this work, we propose a transfer learning approach to create an accurate HAR classifier with very limited data through the multitask neural network. The classifier loss function minimization for source and target domain are treated as two different tasks. The knowledge transfer is performed by simultaneously minimizing the loss function of both tasks using a single neural network model. Furthermore, we utilize the unlabeled data in an unsupervised manner to help the model training. The experiment result shows that the proposed work consistently outperforms existing approaches.

  • This study is a theoretical research to explore ways to effectively learn AI in the age of intelligent information driven by artificial intelligence (hereinafter referred to as AI). The emphasis is on presenting a teaching method to make AI education accessible not only to students majoring in mathematics, statistics, or computer science, but also to other majors such as humanities and social sciences and the general public. Given the need for 'Explainable AI(XAI: eXplainable AI)' and 'the importance of storytelling for a sensible and intelligent machine(AI)' by Patrick Winston at the MIT AI Institute [33], we can find the significance of research on AI storytelling learning model. To this end, we discuss the possibility through a pilot study targeting general students of an university in Daegu. First, we introduce the AI storytelling(AI+ST) learning method[30], and review the educational goals, the system of contents, the learning methodology and the use of new AI tools in the method. Then, the results of the learners are compared and analyzed, focusing on research questions: 1) Can the AI+ST learning method complement algorithm-driven or developer-centered learning methods? 2) Whether the AI+ST learning method is effective for students and thus help them to develop their AI comprehension, interest and application skills.

  • 본 연구에서는 온라인 다중 사용자 환경의 eBook annotation 시스템 개발에서 데이터를 의미 기반으로 관리하고, 데이터에 대하여 상호 공통적인 이해를 표현하며, 그리고 데이터에 대한 무결성 검사 등을 지원하기 위해서 eBook annotation 온톨로지를 설계하였다. eBook annotation 데이터에 대한 상호 공통적이 이해를 표현을 위해서 한국 전자책 문서 표준인 EBKS(Electronic Book of korra Standard)를 기반으로 설계하였으며 설계된 온톨로지는 Conceptual Graph(CG)를 사용하여 표현하였다. 의미 기반의 처리를 위해서 본 온톨로지에서는 동의어(Synonym) 관계와 다국어(Interlingua) 관계를 고려하였으며 또한 annotation 데이터 생성시 오류 방지와 중요도를 표현하기 위해서 integrity, important axiom을 고려했다. 제안된 온톨로지는 annotation 데이터의 재사용성을 높일 수 있고 의미 정보를 활용함으로써 eLearning, cyberclass과 같은 다중 사용자 환경에서 효과적인 협업을 가능하게 한다.

  • 급변하는 사회 환경과 기술 변화에 적응하기 위해 평생 교육에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있으며 이러한 욕구를 충족시키기 위한 새로운 개념의 e-러닝 기술에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행중이다. 또한 기존의 단순한 정보 전달 수준을 뛰어 넘어 학습자가 직접 참여하고 체험할 수 있는 고품질의 인터랙티브 e-러닝 콘텐츠에 대한 요구가 증대되고 있다. 본 고에서는 최근 이슈가 되고 있는 증강 현실 학습 기술, 가상현실 학습 기술, 시뮬레이션 학습 기술, 맞춤형 학습 기술 등 e-러닝 요소 기술 개발 현황에 대해 살펴보고 관련 기술 동향을 분석한다. 또한 e-러닝 기술 관련 표준화 동향에 대해서도 살펴본다.

  • 정부 각 부처의 적극적인 지원 정책에 힘입어 국내 e러닝 산업은 국내 디지털 콘텐츠 산업 시장에서 두번째로 큰 시장으로 성장하였고, 연평균 28% 이상의 빠른 성장세를 보이고 있다. 이러한 e러닝 산업에서 중요한 기본 요소 중 하나인 e러닝 콘텐츠를 효율적으로 개발하기 위한 프로세스의 마련은 중요한 과제라 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 일반적으로 활용되고 있는 교수 설계 모형인 ADDIE 모형을 분석하고, 이를 근간으로 하여 분석, 설계, 개발, 운영, 평가, 이상 5항목으로 구분하여 웹기반 e러닝 콘텐츠의 개발 프로세스 각각의 수행 내용을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 프로세스는 교육 콘텐츠의 목적이나 교수 학습 모형, 교수 학습 형태 등에 따라 적절히 변형하여 웹기반이 아닌 멀티미디어 학습 시스템이나 전통적인 학습 시스템의 경우에도 충분히 적용될 수 있다.

  • 이제 e-러닝은 전 세계적으로 21세기형 교육 패러다임으로 부상하였고 단순히 정보통신매체 기반의 학습개념을 넘어서 국가 인적자원 개발을 통한 경쟁력 강화의 핵심 동력이 되었다. 하지만 이러한 국가 차원의 지원과 급속한 확산 속도에 비해서 실제적으로 e-러닝을 이용하고 있는 이용자들에 대한 구체적인 이용현황 조사는 미미한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 e-러닝 경험이 있는 대학생들을 중심으로 이용현황을 직접 조사하여, 그 결과 나타난 여러 가지 문제점과 현실적인 대안을 제시하고 실제적인 e-러닝 활성화에 기여하고자 한다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 E-NIE 수업을 진행하는데 있어 기존 연구의 문제점과 개선점을 조사하고 수업자료선택, 수업진행, 발전방향에 관한 설문조사 결과를 토대로 멀티미디어 자료 검색 방법과 온라인에서 신문활용학습이 효율적으로 이루어질 수 있는 E-NIE 이러닝 시스템 발전 방안을 모색하기 위한 것이다. E-NIE에 뉴스 표준인 NewsML과 교육정보 표준인 KEM 그리고 학사관리운영플랫폼 LMS를 접목해 멀티미디어 자료와 교과 및 단원을 구조화해 표준화된 교육용 멀티미디어 아카이브를 구축하고 온라인으로 진단 형성 수행 평가, 토론학습, 협동학습 등이 가능하고 학생들의 성적과 진도는 물론 교수학습의 전반적인 과정을 통합적으로 운영 관리할 수 있는 E-NIE 이러닝 시스템을 제안한다.

E-resources usage among Polytechnic students in Southwest Nigeria: evidence from Federal Polytechnic, Ede and The Polytechnic, Ibadan Nigeria

  • This study examined e-resources usage among polytechnic students in Southwest Nigeria. A descriptive research design was adopted for this study and the population consisted of polytechnic students from The Polytechnic, Ibadan and Federal Polytechnic, Ede. There were 9671 students from both polytechnics. A multi-stage sampling technique was employed with a sample fraction of 5% was drawn from the total number of students in each faculty amounting to 381. A structured questionnaire was the major instrument used for data collection and the questionnaire was pre-tested using Cronbach-alpha to determine the reliability co-efficient. Data obtained was analyzed using SPSS. The study found that the students from both polytechnics are aware of the e-resources and that the e-resources were mainly used for research, class assignment and to update knowledge. The problem such as epileptic power supply, poor internet connection and so on was identified. The study concluded that polytechnic students could benefit immensely from the enormous usage of e-resources particularly for teaching, learning and research. Based on the findings, recommendations were made.

Toward Self-Directed Math Learning in College Math Classes (대학수학에서, 자기주도 수학학습)

  • The major goals of this study are to find the factors that enhance self-directed math learning in college math classes and to provide the students with the opportunities to check and develop their self-directed math learning attitude. For these research goals, we prepared the questionnaires that asked about their learning motivations, basic learning ability, self-discipline strategies, and self-directed learning strategies. Another purpose of the questionnaires was to give them the chances to check and improve their attitude toward those learning strategies, motivation and ability. From the research results, we find that the important factors for self-directed learning are internal & external motivations, concentration ability, and the goal-setting and plan-making abilities. In addition, concentration ability, good habit, stress-control, recognition of math value, and self-directing ability are found to be necessary for the desirable learning environment. On the other hand, we find that the ability to perform note-taking, class preparation and review, time-control, and test-control is required for the selection and practice of self-fitting learning strategies. Finally, we provided our own self-directed math learning model. Our model, containing the necessary factors for self-directed math learning, is the revised and modified one of Knowles(1975)'s 5 stage self-directed learning model that comprises diagnosis of learning desire, setting learning goals, grasping human&material resources, selection and practice of proper learning strategies, and evaluation of learning results.
