  • As there are needs to search the Web information via wire or wireless telephones, VoiceXML forum was established to develop and promote the Voice eXtensible Markup Language (VoiceXML). VoiceXML simplifies the creation of personalized interactive voice response services on the Web, and allows voice and phone access to information on Web sites, call center databases. Also, it can utilize the Web-based technologies, such as CGI(Common Gateway Interface) scripts. In this paper, we have developed the voice portal service platform based on VoiceXML called TeleGateway. It enables integration of voice services with data services using the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Text-To-Speech (TTS) engines. Also, we have showed the various services on voice portal services.

  • Recommendation system is one way of implementing personalized service. The collaborative filtering is one of the major techniques that have been employed for recommendation systems. It has proven its effectiveness in the recommendation systems for such domain as motion picture or music. However, it has some limitations, i.e., sparsity and scalability. In this research, as one way of overcoming such limitations, we proposed the stepwise collaborative filtering method. To show the practicality of our proposed method, we designed and implemented a movie recommendation system which we shall call Step_CF, and its performance was evaluated using MovieLens data. The performance of Step_CF was better than that of Basic_CF that was implemented using the original collaborative filtering method.

  • Future wireless network aims to integrate different radio access networks (RANs) to provide a seamless access and service continuity. In this paper, a new resource denotation method is proposed in the WLAN and LTE heterogeneous networks based on a concept of spectral bandwidth mapping. This method simplifies the denotation of system resources and makes it possible to calculate system residual capacity, upon which an economic model-based network selection algorithm is designed in both under-loaded and over-loaded scenarios in the heterogeneous networks. The simulation results show that this algorithm achieves better performance than the utility function-based access selection (UFAS) method proposed in [12] in increasing system capacity and system revenue, achieving load balancing and reducing the new call blocking probability in the heterogeneous networks.

  • Delay has influenced customer satisfaction while using a telephone. It has been ranked second after transmission impairments in annoyance to customers. Therefore, it is important to analyze its behavior not only to increase the quality of service for the customers, but to provide its information to network planners and administrators and to designers of equipment and systems. In this paper, we consider a log-normal model as a candidate for describing the statistical behavior of the post dialling delay, i.e., the time to connect a call to the telephone network after dialling. Based on the real data, the log-normalness of the post dialling delays are convinced for the long distance calls, but not supported for the local calls. Uses of graphical plotting paper and statistical test of fit art discussed.

  • Those studies in the field of Management Information Systems and the Success Model of the DeLone and McLean's Information Systems suggest that some factors related to information systems should be developed and operated to affect the performance of the user's personal and companies through the introduction and use of corporate information systems. The purpose of this study is put on searching for some factors which impact on user satisfaction about the customer information management systems of call center. We did conduct on a survey of 539 people who are working as a call center counseling employees as setting up a structural equation model which reflects previous research on working environment and job satisfaction, and modified DeLone and McLean's information system success model. The results of this study are as follows. First, seven of the eleven hypotheses that three quality of the information systems might be affecting working environment, job satisfaction, user satisfaction were adopted Second, we confirmed that the working environment works as a the partial mediation and the quality of services works as a fully mediation between system/information quality and users' satisfaction. The implications of this study are that it is necessary not only to make a good working environment but also to keep improving it in order to boost the operational performance of information systems in the future.

Shared Resource Management Scheme in Advance and Immediate Reservations for Effective Resource Allocation (효율적인 자원 할당을 위한 사전 예약과 즉석 예약 간 공유 자원 관리)

  • Real-time multimedia applications that require large amount of bandwidth need resource reservation before starting service for providing the QoS(i.e., Quality of Service). To reserve resources in advance, each reservation request has to notify its expectation on the required amount of resources and service duration. Using this information, a resource manager can schedule advance reservations. However, most existing resource management systems are adopting straightforward call admission control process (i.e., only immediate reservation) by checking currently available resources without considering the service duration. Hence, the resource management system that supports advance reservation has to manage confliction caused by indefinite service duration of immediate reservation. Even though the separation of resource pool according to type of reservation can prevent the confliction, it causes low resource utilization. In this paper, we propose an effective resource management scheme that supports both immediate and advance reservations by sharing resources dynamically. Using network cost function, the proposed scheme determines and adaptively adjusts resource boundary according to the confliction rate by varying weight parameters. And also, we define user utility function to quantify user satisfaction based on how well the reserved resource is guaranteed during service time. Simulation results using NS-2 network simulator show that the proposed scheme can achieve better resource utilization with preferable QoS than other schemes like static resource partitioning.

Vulnerability Analysis on the Mobile Core Network using OpenAirInterface (OpenAirInterface를 통한 모바일 코어네트워크 보안위협 분석)

  • Mobile network is used by many users worldwide for diverse services, including phone-call, messaging and data transfer over the Internet. However, this network may experience massive damage if it is exposed to cyber-attacks or denial-of-service attacks via wireless communication interference. Because the mobile network is also used as an emergency network in cases of disaster, evaluation or verification for security and safety is necessary as an important nation-wide asset. However, it is not easy to analyze the mobile core network because it's built and serviced by private service providers, exclusively operated, and there is even no separate network for testing. Thus, in this paper, a virtual mobile network is built using OpenAirInterface, which is implemented based on 3GPP standards and provided as an open source software, and the structure and protocols of the core network are analyzed. In particular, the S1AP protocol messages captured on S1-MME, the interface between the base station eNodeB and the mobility manager MME, are analyzed to identify potential security threats by evaluating the effect of the messages sent from the user terminal UE to the mobile core network.

  • In this paper, we investigate a problem with an e-learning system for e-business environments and introduce the solving method of the problem. To be more accurate, existing Web-hosted and ASP (Application Service Provider)-oriented service model is difficult to cooperate and integrate among the different kinds of systems. So we have produced sharable and reusable learning object, they have extracted a principle from pedagogical designs for units of reuse. We call LIO (Learning Item Object). This modeling makes use of a constructing for XML Web Services. So to speak, units of reuse from pedagogical designs are test tutorial, resource, case example, simulation, problem, test, discovery and discussion and then map introduction, fact, try, quiz, test, link-more, tell-more LIO learning object. These typed LIOs are stored in metadata along with the information for a content location. Each one of LIOs is designed with components and exposed in an interface for XML Web services. These services are module applications, which are used a standard SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) and locate any computer over Internet and publish, find and bind to services. This guarantees the interoperation and integration of the different kinds of systems. As a result, the problem of e-learning systems for e-business environments was resolved and then the power of understanding about learning objects based on pedagogical design was increased for learner and instruction designers. And organizations of education hope for particular decreased costs in constructing e-learning systems.
