  • As online shopping malls continue to grow in popularity, various chances of consumption are provided to customers. Customers decide the purchase by exploiting information provided by shopping malls such as the reviews of actual purchasing users, the detailed information of items, and so on. It is required to provide objective and reliable information because customers have to decide on their own whether the massive information is credible. In this paper, we propose a personalized recommendation method considering an item confidence to recommend reliable items. The proposed method determines user preferences based on various behaviors for personalized recommendation. We also propose an user preference measurement that considers time weights to apply the latest propensity to consume. Finally, we predict the preference score of items that have not been used or purchased before, and we recommend items that have highest scores in terms of both the predicted preference score and the item confidence score.

Data were obtained from 243 consumers who had bought fashion products through online shopping. Data were analyzed by using factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, and path analysis using LISREL 8.53 program. The results of this study suggest that the consumer innovativeness, such as Internet-innovativeness and Fashion-innovativeness affect shopping mall attributes including Loading, Visual, Information, Variety, and Price/Fashion. These attributes and the shopping mall satisfaction partially mediated the impact of consumer innovativeness on e-loyalty of shopping malls through the Internet. Especially, consumer satisfaction was the most important determinant to build up e-loyalty for the online shopping of fashion products. The findings provide implications for e-retailers to develop strategies related to consumer innovativeness, shopping mall attributes, and the e-loyalty of shopping malls for fashion products.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the site characteristics and the customer characteristics of Internet shopping malls on perceived risk and purchase intention. In order to fulfill this objective, we employ the survey methodology to gain data and analyze them using a structural equation model. The results of this study show that both the site characteristics and the customer characteristics of Internet shopping malls did not have a direct effect on purchase intention. Instead, perceived risk has effects on purchase intention. This implies that perceived risk is playing an important role in e-commerce.

The study proposed a model to investigate the relationship among quality of sites, satisfaction, attitude, and loyalty. The hypotheses were examined by analyzing a structural equation model. 280 US samples were used for the final analysis. The results show that this model demonstrates good fit for the samples. The ease of use was found to be a significant variable in their satisfaction, while it did not have the direct effect on attitude toward the sites. The information quality was found to be a crucial variable in consumers' satisfaction and attitude toward the site. Satisfaction directly affected attitude as well as loyalty, and attitude also directly affected loyalty. Thus, the structural relationship among the variables of customers' loyalty was verified. This research provides practical insights into US consumer behaviors that would be beneficial to marketers when they make decisions for the US e-commerce market.

  • In Korea, The Consumer Protection Law in Electronic Commerce, which came into effect in July 2002, forced internet shopping malls to provide a minimum of 7 forms of business information, including the name of the business, the name of the representative, geographical address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, and business license number, so that consumers could easily identify them. To investigate the shopping malls which do not provide their business information, can lead to confidence in the electronic commerce environment. To investigate the completeness of the business information with the internet shopping malls, this paper proposes the methods of gathering URLs of internet shopping malls, of extracting business information attributes, and an architecture of the agent system. Information extraction in our research is based on synonyms and indicator words of the attributes. With the experiment we showed that the accuracy of our agent system to find out the right business information is 89.3%.
