The components of the seismic behavior factor of RC frames are expected to change as structural redundancy increases. Most researches indicate that increasing redundancy is desirable in response to stochastic events such as earthquake loading. The present paper investigated the effect of redundancy on a fixed plan for seismic behavior factor components and the nonlinear behavior of RC frames. The 3D RC moment resistant frames with equal lateral resistance were designed to examine the role of redundancy in earthquake-resistant design and to distinguish it from total overstrength capacity. The seismic behavior factor and dynamic behavior of structures under natural strong ground motions were numerically evaluated as the judging criteria for structural seismic behavior. The results indicate that increasing redundancy alone in a fixed plan cannot be defined as a criterion for improving the structural seismic behavior.
An approximate analysis is presented for multi-story setback buildings subjected to ground motions. Setback buildings with mass and stiffness discontinuities are common in modern architecture and quite often they are asymmetric in plan. The proposed analysis provides basic dynamic data (frequencies and peak values of base resultant forces) and furthermore an overview of the building response during a ground excitation. The method is based on the concept of the equivalent single story system, which has been introduced by the author in earlier papers for assessing the response of uniform in height buildings. As basic quantities of the dynamic response of elastic setback buildings can be derived by analyzing simple systems, a structural layout of minimum elastic rotational response can be easily constructed. The behavior of such structural configurations, which is basically translational into the elastic phase, is also examined into the post elastic phase when the strength assignment of the various bents is based on a planar static analysis under a set of lateral forces simulating an equivalent 'seismic loading'. It is demonstrated that the almost concurrent yielding of all resisting elements preserves the translational response, attained at the end of the elastic phase, to the post elastic one.

Recently, lots of damages have been lost because large magnitude earthquakes were occurred in the world. It has been increased the number of earthquakes in Korea. It needs improvement required for the repair of deteriorated reservoirs, reinforcement and raised reservoir coping with climate change and earthquake. This study aims to investigate the seismic behavior of deterioration reservoir levee using dynamic centrifugal model test. Therefore, two case tests in centrifugal field of 60 g, the result has provided the influence on the acceleration response, displacement, settlement and the pore water pressure of the reservoir with earthquakes. From the results larger displacement and acceleration response at the front side of reservoir embankment with poor-fabricated core in seismic condition may degrade overall stability. Reasonable reinforcement method of the raised reservoir embankment is required for ensuring long-term stability on earthquake.

The seismic behaviors of the arch structure vary according to the rise-span ratio of the arch structure. In this study, the rise-span ratio (H/L) of the example arch structure was set to 1/4, 1/6, and 1/8. And the installation angle of the seismic isolator was set to 15°, 30°, 45°, 60° and 90°. The installation angles of the seismic isolator were set by analyzing the horizontal and vertical reaction forces according to the rise-span ratio of the arch structure. Due to the geometrical and dynamic characteristics of the arch structure, the lower the rise-span ratio, the greater the horizontal reaction force of the static load, but the smaller the horizontal reaction force of the dynamic load. And if the seismic isolator is installed in the direction of the resultant force of the reaction forces caused by the seismic load, the horizontal seismic response becomes small. Also, as the installation angle of the seismic isolator increases, the hysteresis behavior of the seismic isolator shows a plastic behavior, and residual deformation appears even after the seismic load is removed. In the design of seismic isolators for seismic response control of large space structures such as arch structures, horizontal and vertical reaction forces should be considered.
Multi-span steel-concrete composite (SCC) bridges are very sensitive to earthquake loading. Extensive damage may occur not only in the substructures (piers), which are expected to yield, but also in the other components (e.g., deck, abutments) involved in carrying the seismic loads. Current seismic codes allow the design of regular bridges by means of linear elastic analysis based on inelastic design spectra. In bridges with superstructure transverse motion restrained at the abutments, a dual load path behavior is observed. The sequential yielding of the piers can lead to a substantial change in the stiffness distribution. Thus, force distributions and displacement demand can significantly differ from linear elastic analysis predictions. The objectives of this study are assessing the influence of piers-deck stiffness ratio and of soil-structure interaction effects on the seismic behavior of continuous SCC bridges with dual load path, and evaluating the suitability of linear elastic analysis in predicting the actual seismic behavior of these bridges. Parametric analysis results are presented and discussed for a common bridge typology. The response dependence on the parameters is studied by nonlinear multi-record incremental dynamic analysis (IDA). Comparisons are made with linear time history analysis results. The results presented suggest that simplified linear elastic analysis based on inelastic design spectra could produce very inaccurate estimates of the structural behavior of SCC bridges with dual load path.

The behavior characteristics of underground structures are reported as they are not affected by their dynamic characteristics such as surface structures, but by dynamic characteristics of soil and rock surrounding the underground structures. Therefore, dynamic behavior of surrounding soil and rock dominates the dynamic behavior of the underground structure. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the dynamic response (longitudinal deformation and ovaling deformation) of the underground structure under earthquake loading. The dynamic responses of the underground structures were evaluated with varying earthquake conditions, soil conditions, and structural conditions using conventional closed-form solution of seismic behavior of underground structure. In addition, shaking table tests were conducted to simulate the earthquake loading and the dynamic behavior of the model was analyzed.
The major objective of this study is to investigate the fatigue behavior evaluation of immovability crossing for railway turnout by the field test. In railway engineering, an appliance is necessary to allow a vehicle to move from one track to another. This appliance came to be known technically as turnout. So, turnout is required very complex railway technologies such as rolling stock, track. Due to the plan under the application of high speed train, turnout are needed more stable for fatigue behaviors. It analyzed the mechanical behaviors of turnout crossing with propose its advanced technical type on the field test and fatigue evaluation for the dynamic fatigue characteristics. As a result, the advanced type crossing are obviously effective for the fatigue damage ratio and dynamic response which is non-modified type. The analytical and experimental study are carried out to investigate the passing path of contact surface and fatigue damage trend decrease dynamic stresses and deflections on advanced crossing type. And the advanced type reduce dynamic fatigue damage ratio and increase fatigue life(about each 38%)more than non-modified type. From the field test results of the servicing turnout crossing, it is evaluated that the modification of contact angle, weight, material and sectional properties is very effective for ensure against fatigue risks.
This paper presents analysis, design and simulation for the indirect field orientation control (IFOC) of induction machine drive system. The dynamic performance of the IFOC under nominal and detuned parameters of the induction machine is established. A conventional proportional plus integral-derivative (PI-D) two-degree-of-freedom controller (2DOFC) is designed and analysed for an ideal IFOC induction machine drive at nominal parameters with the desired dynamic response. Varying the induction machine parameters causes a degredation in the dynamic response for disturbance rejection and tracking performance with PI-D 2DOF speed controller. Therefore, conventional controllers can nut meet a wide range of speed tracking performance under parameter variations. To achieve high- dynamic performance, a proposed robust fuzzy logic controllers (RFLC) for d-axis rotor flux, d-q axis stator currents and rotor speed have been designed and analysed. These controllers provide robust tracking and disturbance rejection performance when detuning occurres and improve the dynamic behavior. The proposed REL controllers provide a fast and accurate dynamic response in tracking and disturbance rejection characteristics under parameter variations. Computer simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed REL controllers and a robust performance is obtained fur IFOC induction machine drive system.
In this research, a series of dynamic numerical analysis were carried out for deep underground building structures under the various earthquake conditions. Dynamic numerical analysis model was developed based on the PLAXIS2D and calibrated with centrifuge test data from Kim et al. (2016). The hardening soil model with small strain stiffness (HSSMALL) was adopted for soil constitutive model, and interface elements was employed at the interface between plate and soil elements to simulate dynamic interaction effect. In addition, parametric study was performed for fixed condition and embedded depth. Finally, the dynamic behavior of underground building structure was thoroughly analyzed and evaluated.

In this study, we describe a method to analysis dynamic behavior of an offshore wind turbine in the frequency domain and expected effects of the method. An offshore wind turbine, which is composed of platform, tower, nacelle, hubs, and blades, can be considered as multibody systems. In general, the dynamic analysis of multibody systems are carried out in the time domain, because the equations of motion derived based on the multibody dynamics are generally nonlinear differential equations. However, analyzing the dynamic behavior in time domain takes longer than in frequency domain. In this study, therefore, we describe how to analysis the system multibody systems in the frequency domain. For the frequency domain analysis, the non-linear differential equations are linearized using total derivative and Taylor series expansions, and then the linearized equations are solved in time domain. This method was applied to analysis of double pendulum system for the verification of its effectiveness, and the equations of motion for the offshore wind turbine was derived with assuming that the wind turbine is rigid multibody systems. Using this method, the dynamic behavior analysis of the offshore wind turbine can be expected to take less time.
