  • Viscoelastic materials shows the characteristics of elasticity and viscosity. Unlike metals which show negligible damping value, the damping characteristics of viscoelastic materials like rubber mounts is very important in the analysis of the dynamic system. So there has been a great interest in measuring the damping characteristics of viscoelastic materials. There are two kinds of methods which the damping characteristics can be measured. One is the resonant method where loss factor can be measured only in the resonant frequency. The other is the nonresonant method which is characterized by the impedance method are introduced. The impedance test results, the loss factor by the impedance method are compared to the results of the resonant method and recommendations in the experimental setup are suggested.

  • The Charpy and Izod impact tests are the most prevalent techniques used to characterize the effects of high impulse loads on polymeric materials. An analysis method for rubber toughened PVC is suggested to evaluated critical dynamic strain energy release rates(G$_c$) from the Charpy impact tester was used to extract ancillary information concerning fracture parameters in additional to total fracture energies and maximum critical loads. The dynamic stress intensity factor KID was computed for varying amounts of rubber contents from the obtain maximum critical loads and also toughening effects were investigated as well. The fracture surfaces produced under low velocity impact for PVC/MBS composites were investigated by SEM. The results show that MBS rubber is very effective reinforcement material for toughening PVC.

  • In this paper, We analyzed the current-voltage characteristics with n-type silicon substrates concentration and temperature variations (Room temperature, 50$^{\circ}C$, 75$^{\circ}C$) in platinum silicide and silicon junction. The electrical parameters of measurement are turn-on voltage, saturation current, ideality factor, barrier height, dynamic resistance in forward bias and reverse breakdown voltage according to variations of junction concentration of substrates and measurement temperature variations. As a result, the forward turn-on voltage, reverse breakdown voltage, barrier height and dynamic resistance were decreased but saturation currents and ideality factor were increased by substrates increased concentration variations in platinum silicide and n-silicon junction. In increased measurement temperature (RT, 50$^{\circ}C$, 75$^{\circ}C$), the extracted electrical parameter values of characteristics were rises by increased temperature variations according to the forward and reverse bias.

  • A hypothetical accident in the containment vessel of liquid metal reactor could cause a pressure, temperature rise, and a strong aerosol release. The computer codes relating to the modelization of these accident make it necessary to use various input parameter, among which is the dynamic shape factor of aerosols produced. Combustion experiments of sodium spray fire carried out in a closed vessel, which was vertical cylinder made of 1.2m in diameter and 1.8m hight with a volume of 1.7$m^3$. The results of theoretical analysis presented here was compared to data obtained from experiments. The experimental results were summarized as follows. 1) The aerodynamic diameter and geometric diameter of aerosols are decreasing with increasing of injection pressure and injection temperature of sodium 2) The dynamic shape factor of aerosol is proportional to the aerodynamic diameter for a given particle. 3) The correspondence between the aerodynamic diameter and geometric diameter can be as $D_{ae}=0.70 D_{ge}$. 4) Peak pressure rose with increase in pressure and temperature of injection sodium, being more sensitive to the injection pressure than the injection temperature.

  • The balance shaft housing in the recent engines tends to have the high cycle fatigue crack caused by increased engine power. In this paper, a CAE procedure is introduced to predict the durability of the balance shaft housing. The procedure is performed through two analysis steps. In the first step, the multibody dynamic simulation is used to obtain more accurate loading boundary conditions applied to the finite element model for the following step. Next, the finite element analysis is performed to predict the durability of the balance shaft housing through the calculation of the safety factor. Through this CAE procedure, the revised balance shaft housing was developed to improve the durability. And the durability of the housing was confirmed experimentally.

  • The performance evaluation and deflection of 3 spans concrete simplicity slab bridge analyzed by non-destructive and loading test. Compressive strength of slab and pier appeared in the range of each 353∼366 kgf/$cm^2$ and 152∼215 kgf/$cm^2$ in rebound number test. Also, it appeared that concrete quality of slab was good after performance improvement. The average compressive strength of slab by core picking appeared 229 kg/$cm^2$. In reinforcing bar arrangement test of span and member, it appeared that horizontal and vertical reinforcing bar was arranged to fixed interval. The value of calculation deflection that carried structural analysis with deflection analysis wave in static loading test appeared higher than that of experimental deflection and it appeared that hardness of this bridge was good. Maximum impact factor that estimated from deflection by running speed in dynamic loading test appeared by 0.216 in 10 km/hr running speed.

  • The nonlinear characteristics of a suspension is directly related to the ride quality of a passenger car. In this study, a dynamic experiment for a spring and a damper of a passenger car is performed to analyze the nonlinear characteristics using MTS 1-axial testing machine and a mathematical nonlinear dynamic suspension model based on experimental data is devised to estimate the ride quality using Billings' method. The devised nonlinear model is applied to the ride quality analysis using K factor and the effect of suspension parameters is examined. As a result, the friction between the cylinder and the piston of a damper is the most effective parameter for the ride quality of a passenger car.

  • This paper explores the ramifications of international outsourcing on unemployment, income distribution and welfare, which is an important but yet unresolved issue. Using the well-known Harris-Todaro (1970) model of sector-specific unemployment, it shows that the effects of outsourcing on employment, income-distribution and welfare depend on the sector in which the outsourcing occurs, whereby sectoral factor intensities, unemployment-outsourcing response and the dynamic stability condition play crucial roles. In particular, outsourcing in the manufacturing (primary) sector widens (narrows) income inequality by increasing (decreasing) the sectoral wage gap and raising (not affecting) the rental income of the capital owners in the economy. Moreover, outsourcing in the manufacturing (primary) sector can be welfare-decreasing (is always welfare-increasing) due to its negative (positive) employment effect mitigating (reinforcing) the primary gains from the outsourcing.

  • In this paper, an inverted-pendulum model consisting of a point supported by spring limbs with roller feet is adopted to simulate human walking load. To establish the kinematic motion of first and second single and double support phases, the Lagrangian variation method was used. Given a set of model parameters, desired walking speed and initial states, the Newmark-${\beta}$ method was used to solve the above kinematic motion for studying the effects of roller radius, stiffness, impact angle, walking speed, and step length on the ground reaction force, energy transfer, and height of center of mass transfer. The numerical simulation results show that the inverted-pendulum model for walking is conservative as there is no change in total energy and the duration time of double support phase is 50-70% of total time. Based on the numerical analysis, a dynamic load factor ${\alpha}_{wi}$ is proposed for the traditional walking load model.
