Dynamic characteristics of the short circuit mode are investigated using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method. When the initial molten drop volume, contact area and wire feed rate are given, rate change of the molten bridge profiles, pressure and velocity distributions are predicted. The electromagnetic force with proper boundary conditions are included in the formulation to consider the effects of welding current. It is found that the molten metal is transferred to the weld pool mainly due to the pressure difference caused by the curvatures in the initial stage, and electromagnetic force becomes dominant factor in the final stage of short circuit transfer. Necking occurs at the contact position between the molten drop and weld pool, and the initial molten drop volume and welding current have significant effects on break-up time.

Tapping mode atomic force microscopy (TM-AFM) utilizes the dynamic response of a resonating probe tip as it approaches and retracts from a sample to measure the topography and material properties of a nanostructure. We present recent results based on numerical techniques that yield new perspectives and insight into AFM. It is compared that the dynamic models including van der Waals and Derjaguin-Muller-Toporov(DMT) or Johnson-Kendall-Roberts(JKR) contact forces demonstrates that periodic solutions can be represented with respect to the approach distance and excitation frequency.

A flexible tactile sensor away with 8 H 8 tactile elements is designed and fabricated. The material of the sensor is PVDF(polyvinylidene fluoride) film and flexible circuitry is used in the fabrication fur the flexibility of the sensor The experimental results on static and dynamic properties of the sensor are obtained and examined. The signals of a contact pressure to the sensor are sensed and processed in the DSP system in which the signals are digitalized and filtered. The processed signals of the sensor outputs are visualized in a personal computer for illustrating the shape and force distribution of a contact object. The reasonable performance for the detection of contact state is verified through sensing examples.
In this study, we developed the simulation program of an overhead catenary-pantograph system, The overhead catenary is modeled with point mass and the pantograph is replaced with 3 d. o. f. model which is composed of mass, spring and damper. Using the developed program, we analyzed the static structure of the overhead catenary and the dynamic characteristics of an overhead catenary-pantograph system such as uplift displacement of contact wire and contact force. we compared the analysis results with the results of GASENDO software developed at RTRI in Japan. The behaviors of uplift displacement of contact wire and contact force were similar with the results of GASENDO software.
In this study, to describe vehicle-track-bridge dynamic interaction phenomena with 1/4 vehicle model, nonlinear Hertzian contact spring and nonlinear contact damper are introduced. In this approach external loads acting on 1/4 vehicle model are self weight of vehicle and geometry information of running surface. The constraint equation on contact surface is implemented by Penalty method. Also, to improve the numerical stability and to maintain accuracy of solution, the artificial damper and the reaction from constraint violation are introduced. A nonlinear time integration method, in this study, Newmark method is adopted for both equations of vehicles and structure. And to reduce the error caused by inadequate time step size, adaptive time-stepping technique is partially introduced. As the nonlinear Hertzian contact spring has no resistance to tensile force, the bouncing phenomena of wheelset can be described. Thus, it is expected that more versatile dynamic interaction phenomena can be described by this approach and it can be applied to various railway dynamic problems.
In this research, we describe the sorting conditions modeling by friction force. As in any mechanism which is required to provide good dynamic performance and high accuracy, performance evaluation of optimal control. To understand friction it is necessary to investigate the topography of the sliding surfaces in contact. Any surfaces, even apparently smooth surfaces, are microscopically rough. When two surfaces come into contact, the true contact takes place only at point where asperities come together. The sorting conditions of sorting mechanism with friction force is sorting force must be equal with force can sorting one highest veneer among loaded veneer. This is just a thing being sorted veneer have friction with under veneer and this friction disturb sorting at the same time. Hence, the sorting conditions evaluation is important to sorting one veneer must get under control friction with veneer.
This paper deals with the low velocity impact response and dynamic stresses of composite sandwich truncated conical shells (STCS) with compressible or incompressible core. Impacts are assumed to occur normally over the top face-sheet and the interaction between the impactor and the structure is simulated using a new equivalent three-degree-of-freedom (TDOF) spring-mass-damper (SMD) model. The displacement fields of core and face sheets are considered by higher order and first order shear deformation theory (FSDT), respectively. Considering continuity boundary conditions between the layers, the motion equations are derived based on Hamilton's principal incorporating the curvature, in-plane stress of the core and the structural damping effects based on Kelvin-Voigt model. In order to obtain the contact force, the displacement histories and the dynamic stresses, the differential quadrature method (DQM) is used. The effects of different parameters such as number of the layers of the face sheets, boundary conditions, semi vertex angle of the cone, impact velocity of impactor, trapezoidal shape and in-plane stresses of the core are examined on the low velocity impact response of STCS. Comparison of the present results with those reported by other researchers, confirms the accuracy of the present method. Numerical results show that increasing the impact velocity of the impactor yields to increases in the maximum contact force and deflection, while the contact duration is decreased. In addition, the normal stresses induced in top layer are higher than bottom layer since the top layer is subjected to impact load. Furthermore, with considering structural damping, the contact force and dynamic deflection decrees.

This study was aimed to verify the acceptable contact force between power collector and 3rd rail type conductor rail for the Korean standardized rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle. The power collector was designed and manufactured to satisfy the Korean standardized Specifications of the rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle. Based on the dynamic behavior, contact force variation and interruption in the worst installation tolerance of the conductor rail, its initial contact force was set up. With rotary disk type equivalent test apparatus with circular conductor rail, the interruptions were measured. As the results, acceptable contact force was proposed to ensure power collection stability.
The dynamic behavior of an Euler beam with multiple point constraints traversed by a moving concentrated mass, a "moving-force moving-mass" problem, is analyzed and compared with the corresponding simplified "moving-force" problem. The equation of motion in matrix form is formulated using Lagrangian approach and the assumed mode method. The effects of the presence of intermediate point constraints in reducing the fluctuation of the contact force between the mass and the beam and the possible separation of the mass from the beam are investigated. The equation of motion and the numerical results are expressed in dimensionless form. The numerical results presented are therefore applicable for a large combination of system parameters.

To the optimization design of molded case circuit breakers(MCCBs), it is necessary and important to calculate the electro-dynamic repulsion force acting on the movable conductor. With 3-D finite element nonlinear analysis, according to the equations among current-magnetic field-repulsion force and taking into account the ferromagnet, contact bridge model is introduced to simulate the current constriction between contacts, so Lorentz and Holm force acting on the movable conductor and contact, respectively, can be integrated to calculate. Coupled with circuit equations, the opening time of movable contact also can be obtained using iteration with the restriction of contact force. Simulation and experiment for repulsion forte and opening time of five different configuration models have been investigated. The results indicate that the proposed method is effective and capable of evaluating new design of contact systems in MCCBs.
