Environmental pollution has become a serious worldwide problem the humans has encountered in several decades. On the respect of the preservation of the global environment, world-wide consensus to cope with this problem was represented as 1992's Rio Declation. The purpose of this study is to develope evaluation technique of ecological architecture. The environmental scores of the buildings are evaluated and improved from the building design phase in order to build the best environmental building. Ecological architecture is mainly based on the balance of three element : Nature, Humanity, and Cost saving. Its main goals are energy saving and recycling, resource saving, high contact with circumstances, and health & amenity.

From 1990s to the present, in China, residential communities has developed rapidly in terms of government policies and living environments. With economic development, dwelling commercialization and socialization gradually reshaped the housing distribution system and local government management in Chinese urban area. After this process, dwellings were endowed with commodity attributes, which were planned and designed depending on residents' requirements of life. During the 30 years of social transformation, Chinese citizens' lifestyle also had huge changes. In this period, the forms of residential area improved constantly to keep pace with social development. This study aims to research the features of contemporary communities and survey citizens' lifestyle changes to find the reasons of the evolution of communities. Moreover, in this paper, there is a clear explanation of the reasons why gated communities are popular in Chinese urban area. In addition, comprehensive data analysis is derived from a questionnaire administered in Shanghai, China. In this part, the questionnaire surveys what factors about lifestyle influence the transformation of living environments and residential buildings. The results of survey show that residents have housing preferences dependent on their lifestyles, and their daily needs related with environmental features.

The Japanese style official residence were built by Chosun bank during the Japanese colonial period. The purpose of this study is to find out the architectural meanings of Chosun bank's official residence, its influences on Korean modem dwellings through trace of the original form and actual survey on the residence. We could understand influences of the rationality, also through the process of prototype's transformation and maintenance's change, we can know that the residence's modernizing process don't have the inflow onesidedly but the process of the collision and the assimilation to the differences between the residential sense and one's culture.

The purpose of this study is to improve design method for renovating an environmental friendly residential space where nature and humans could coexist. In the present study, five deteriorated multi-family housing complexes have been selected and one hundred and thirty eight dwellers have been asked about ecological important factors through the questionnaire. This study presents the adaptable solutions, such as are the enlargement of unit space or area, the renovation of facade, the functional change for dwellings on the ground level, the open piping of circulation systems, the expansion of community facilities(include greenarea), the build up of spatial hierarchy and the housing development set reuse planning forth as a premise, for the aspects of dwelling unit, building block and site planning.

This is designed to find out the relations between traditional dwelling and its ecological concepts and factors in the natural environment. This also reveals how to design the dwelling under the full consideration of eco-system and its application possibility. Now, I have a conclusion that Modern architecture application would be possible if we design buildings under full-consideration of ecological environmental elements, inheriting the characteristics of the typical architecture items through more detailed and further advanced studies in traditional architecture methods.

주택부족 문제의 효율적 해결방안의 하나로 보급되기 시작한 아파트는 다양한 문제의 표출에도 불구하고 '좁은 땅에 많은 주택 공급'이라는 한국 현실에 가장 적합한 주거유형으로 정착되고 있다. 본 연구는 아파트를 비롯한 여러 유형의 집합주거가 어떤 계층의 가족에 의해 선호되고, 나아가 이상적인 주거유형 규범으로 인식되고 있는지 규명하기 위한 것이다. 모델에 포함된 변인중 가장의 연령과 학력은 현재 거주하는 주거유형 및 집합주거 선호에 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 현재 집합주거에 거주하는 가정일수록 높은 집합주거 선호를 보였다. 집합주거 규범에 관한 분석에서는 집합주거 선호 변인만 유의적인 영향을 주어, 집합주거를 선호하는 가정일수록 이를 한국 사회의 주거유형규범으로 생각하는 경향이 많은 것으로 해석할 수 있다.

The construction of the elevated railway has led to concerns about the noise from trains, particularly as tracks often pass close to residential dwellings. One specific issue relates to the noise from trains on bridges. The wayside noise for the train was measured to get the basic data that can be used to prepare count measures for solving environmental noise problems. Noise levels were measured simultaneously at three points in various distances from the railroad and at four points classified by floor. In this paper we measure the wayside noise in elevated railway and noise of normal operation compare with operating under train engine idling condition and investigate effect of nearby-building induced by train operation.

Noise map is a presentation of existing data or predicted noise situation in terms of noise indicator. However, it has shortcoming for assessing the number of people exposed, or the number of dwellings affected to any relevant limit values of noise level in certain areas. In this study, so called over-ride value noise mapping is Proposed to make up for the shortcoming by using over-ride function of object-oriented programming and it is to show the guard of the area where it is satisfied the standard of option, or it is not satisfactory. Over-ride value noise map data is combined with topography layer, population and house statistics, and GIS space statistical analysis. The over-ride value noise mapping can also be applied to make the road traffic noise map, the railroad noise map, the aircraft noise map, and the industrial site noise map. This can express noise damage information more exactly.

This paper studied a method for minimizing the noise level emitted from range hoods. Range hoods were used for discharging various hazardous materials generated during household cooking to the outdoors, thus preventing them from being diffused through rooms in the house since they are the main cause of air pollution within dwellings. This study assumed that static pressure was not applied at the discharge outlet of the range hood. As such, the range hood was installed on the wall without the use of a connecting duct or other connectors attached to its discharge outlet. The vibration having the greatest influence on the noise level was determined by measuring the vibration at the front side of the hood where the acoustic omission was at its maximum. A method was then proposed to reduce the noise by simply suppressing the vibration at the vibrating part.

Cohousing is communities balance the traditional advantages of home ownership with the benefits of shared common facilities and ongoing connections with your neighbors. It is characterized by private dwellings with their own kitchen living-dining room etc, but also extensive common facilities. These cooperative neighborhoods are one of the most promising solutions to many of today's most challenging social and environmental concerns. The purpose of this study is suggest planning direction to cohousing as alternative house. It focuses on the planning method through case study. The result of the study are summarized as follow ; Size of cohousing is 20${\sim}$50 family. Location of cohousing is urban. Type of house is detached house+row house. Size per family is 0${\sim}$15m$^2$. Common house makes up kitchen, dining-room living-room, guest room nursery room and so on.
