Analysis of the Current-Fed DC-DC Converter with Energy-Storage Reactor Feeding the Input (전원에 에너지가 회생되는 전류형 DC-DC 콘버어터의 해석)

  • The current-fed DC-DC converter has only one energy storage reactor in series with the input for any number of outputs and is insensitive to transformer volt-second unbalance. It is considered that these properties of the converter are considerable advantages over other maltiple-output circuits. The steady-state and dynamic characteristic and stability for the current-fed DC-DC con-verter are analyzed in detail. The analysis is carried out by the state-space averaging method for the operation with the duty ratio less than 50% and is confirmed by the experiment. From the evaluation of stability it is identified that the stability of this converter is excellent as compared with that of the conventional buck type converter.

  • A thermopneumatic-actuated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) micropump has been fabricated and their properties are characterized. The diffusers are used as a flow-rectifying element instead of passive check valves. The advantages of the proposed microvalve are of the low cost fabrication process and the transparent optical property using PDMS and indium tin oxide (ITO) glass. We presented the PDMS micropump that is easily integrated with the in-channel PDMS microvalves on the same substrate. The flowrate of the micropump increases linearly as the applied pulse voltage to the ITO heater increases. The fabricated ITO heater resistance is 6.54k$\Omega$. The peak of the flow rate is observed at the duty ratio of 10% for the applied pulse voltage of 55V at 6Hz and the maximum flow rate of 78nl/min is measured.

  • This paper proposed optimal design and microcontroller driver for driving the thin-type ultrasonic motor. To find the optimal size of the stator, motions of the motor were simulated using ATILA by changing length, width and thickness of the ceramics. Two sinusoidal waves which have 90 degree phase difference were needed for driving the thin-type motor. The thin-type ultrasonic motor driver was composed of microcontroller(Atmega128), push-pull inverter, encoder and AD-converter. Microcontroller generates four square waves which have variable frequency and 25[%] duty ratio in $20{\sim}150$[kHz]. The output signals of microcontroller were converted to sine wave and cosine wave by push-pull inverter and were applied to the thin-type ultrasonic motor. The encoder and AD-converter were used for maintaining speed of the thin-type ultrasonic motor. The AD-converter controlled DC voltage of inverter in accordance with output signal of encoder. Using the driver, characteristics of the motor as speed and torque were measured.

  • This paper proposes a new soft switching technique for a phase-shift controlled bi-directional DC-DC converter. The described converter employs a low profile high frequency transformer and two active full-bridge converters for bidirectional power flow capability. A new soft switching technique is proposed, which guarantees soft switching over wide range (no load to full load) without any additional circuit components. In the proposed switching scheme, the switch pairs in the diagonal position of the converter each are turned on/off simultaneously by the switching signals with a variable duty ratio depending on the phase shift amount, and the converter is operated without freewheeling interval.

  • The study on discharge of the flat lamp lighting source has been requested increasingly. To improve the brightness, life time and efficiency of flat lamp, the plasma diagnosis of flat lamp lighting source is very important. When a distance of discharge electrode is 5.5mm and width is 16.5mm, we measured electron temperature and electron density with single Langmuir probe in flat lamp. Pressure conditions to test the plasma discharge from 100 Torr to 300 Torr. The power supply was PDS-4000 with frequency 20kHz and duty ratio $20\%.$ Form these experimental results, electron temperature was decreased according to increase the gas pressure and the voltage while electron density was increased.

  • In this paper, a new scheme of current programmed control for three phase PWM AC-AC converter is presented. Compared to duty-ratio voltage control, current programmed control has several advantages such as reduction of system order, inherent current protection and robust output. By considering only the magnitude components, a similar scheme in the DC-DC converter can be extended to the three phase PWM AC-AC converter. The proposed current programmed control will be well adopted into various converter topologies though three phase PWM AC-AC boost converter is treated as an example. The converter analysis is carried out by applying the vector DQ transformation to obtain physical insight into the converter operation and to establish some important characteristic equations for control purpose. The experiment results show the validity of the proposed scheme.

  • This paper presents the fabrication and test of a micropump consisting of a pair of Al flap valves and a phase-change type actuator. The actuator is composed of a heater, a silicone rubber diaphragm and a working fluid chamber. The diaphragm is actuated by the vaporization and the condensation of the working fluid. The micropump is fabricated by the anisotropic etching, the boron diffusion and the metal evaporation. The forward and the backward flow characteristics of the flap valves illustrate the appropriateness as a check valve. Also, the flow rate of the micropump is measured. When the square wave input voltage of 8 V, 70% duty ratio and 2 Hz is applied to the heater, the maximum flow rate of the micropump is $97\muell/min$ for zero pressure difference.

  • This paper presents a comprehensive study on reducing commutation torque ripples generated in brushless DC motor drives with only a single do-link current sensor provided. In such drives, commutation torque ripple suppression techniques that are practically effective in low speed as well as high speed regions are scarcely found. The commutation compensation technique proposed here is based on a strategy that the current slopes of the incoming and the outgoing phases during the commutation interval can be equalized by a proper duty-ratio control. Being directly linked with deadbeat current control scheme, the proposed control method accomplishes suppression of the spikes and dips superimposed on the current and torque responses during the commutation intervals of the inverter. Effectiveness of the proposed control method is verified through simulations and experiments.

  • This paper presents a design strategy for the control of the Z-source inverter (ZSI). For the Z-network capacitor voltage control, the average current model is derived to describe the dynamics of the voltage control and the controller outputs the average current command for the capacitor. Z-network inductor current reference is derived from the average current model of the Z-network capacitor. The inner current control loop outputs the average voltage command for the Z-network inductor and the shoot-through duty ratio of the ZSI is calculated from the output using the average voltage model of the Z-network inductor. The gain values of the current and voltage controllers are directly obtained by the Z-network parameters and desired bandwidth of each controller without a gain tuning process.

  • 기존 LCD 백라이트 인버터 시스템은 램프 관전류 제어를 위해 인버터 구동 펄스 폭의 크기를 변조하는 PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) 방식이다. 이 경우 시비율의 폭을 가변함에 따라 효율 저감 및 회로 발열 등의 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 인버터를 고정 주파수 및 50% 고정 시비율로 구동하고 램프 관전류 제어를 위해 링크전압을 제어하는 새로운 방식을 제안한다. 이를 통해 효율 증대, EMI 성능의 향상 및 전체 시스템의 원가저감 효과를 획득 할 수 있다.
