High Step-Up Converter with Hybrid Structure Based on One Switch

  • A novel high step-up converter is presented herein, which combines the conventional buck-boost converter, the charge pump capacitor and the coupling inductor. By doing so, a quite high voltage conversion ratio due to not only the turns ratio but also the duty cycle, so as to increase design feasibility. It is noted that the denominator of the voltage conversion ratio is the square of one minus duty cycle. Above all, there is no voltage spike across the switch due to the leakage inductance and hence no passive or active snubber is needed, and furthermore, the used switch is driven without isolation and hence the gate driving circuit is relatively simple, thereby upgrading the industrial application capability of this converter. In this paper, the basic operating principles and the associated mathematical deductions are firstly described in detail, and finally some experimental results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed high step-up converter.

  • Research on the development of CNG dedicated engine that has important meaning both as a clean fuel and an alterna- tive energy to reduce the exhaust emission from diesel engine are actively going on these days. In this study, in order to present the direction and application of CNG engine, we tested the CNG engine performance experimented by changing the parameters such as ignition timing, equivalent ratio. The engine performance experimented by changing the parameters such as ignition timing, equivalent ratio. The engine performance and exhaust emission were measured by engine performance model at maximum load condition with increasing the rpm in the range of 1,000∼2,200rpm. Also, the testing engine was heavy-duty CNG dedicated engine with displacement of 11,050cc.

  • This paper presents a novel prototype of soft-switching PWM Full-bridge converter which incorporates active power switches in series with each rectifier diode in transformer secondary side. Switching and conduction losses of all the switches and devices are reduced as well as commutating current and circulating current flowing through transformer as compared with conventional converter. And duty ratio of primary switches is constant for maximum voltage conversion ratio. But this converter can be varied output by duty ratio of secondary switches. Operation principles basically the same as that of the PWM Full-bridge converter published previously. The operating characteristics of this converter are illustrate and discussed including the simulated analysis.

고정주파수 LCL타입 절연형 양방향 컨버터 해석 및 제어 (Analysis and Control of A Fixed Frequency LCL-type Isolated Bidirectional Converter)

  • This paper discussed the LCL-type & Isolated bidirectional dc-dc converter(BDC) with dual full bridge inverter. In order to verify the analysis of the BDC, Experimental prototype has been designed and implemented to supply constant voltage regardless of loads and proposed a method to select switching frequency that depended on two inductors' inductance ratio and transformer parameters. The proposed converter has been composed of LCL resonant network with unit inductance ratio ($L_r/L_f$=1) and then operated with fixed duty, 50% duty ratio and fixed frequency. There are some characteristics that input voltage and output voltage of the BDC is nearly identical and zero voltage turn-on switching is possible in forward and reverse mode. Finally, it has been showed that BDC is possible to commutate operating mode normally and provide constant output voltage in selected switching frequency.

  • The intake swirl motion, as one of dominant effects for an engine combustion. is very effective for turbulence enhancement during the compression process in the cylinder of 2-valve engine. Because the combustion flame speed is determined by the turbulence that is mainly generated from the mean flow of the charge air motion in intake port system. This paper describes the experimental results of swirl flow and combustion characteristics by using the oil spot method and back-scattering Laser Doppler velocimeter (LDV) in 2-valve single cylinder transparent LPG engine using the liquid phase LPG injection. For this. various intake port configurations were developed by using the flow box system and swirl ratios for different intake port configurations were determined by impulse swirl meter in a steady flow rig test. And the effects of intake swirl ratio on combustion characteristics in an LPG engine were analyzed with some analysis parameters that is swirl ratio. mean flow coefficient, swirl mean velocity fuel conversion efficiency. combustion duration and cyclic variations of indicated mean effective pressure(IMEP). As these research results, we found that the intake port configuration with swirl ratio of 2.0 that has a reasonable lean combustion stability is very suitable to an $11{\ell}$ heavy-duty LPG engine with liquid phase fuel injection system. It also has a better mean flow coefficient of 0.34 to develope a stable flame kernel and to produce high performance. This research expects to clarify major factor that effects on the design of intake port efficiently with the optimized swirl ratio for the heavy duty LPG engine.

대형 수소-천연가스 기관의 수소첨가율에 따른 노크발생 한계압축비 (The Limit Compression Ratio of Knock Occurring by $R_{dH2}$ in the Heavy Duty Hydrogen-CNG Fueled Engine)

  • A heavy duty hydrogen-natural gas fueled engine can obtain stable operation at ultra lean conditions and reduce emissions extremely. Reduction of $CO_2$ in its engine is one of the most benefit. In this study, rate of hydrogen addition($R_{dH2}$) and compression ratio($\varepsilon$) were investigated including performance of this engine. As results, it was found that phenomenon of pressure oscillation when increasing $R_{dH2}$ and $\varepsilon$, it means occurring knock. It consider that pressure oscillation was increased due to fast burning speed of hydrogen. Even if same compression ratio, pressure oscillation was remarkable increased according to increasing $R_{dH2}$. Therefore, limit compression ratio of knock occurring was reduced by increasing $R_{dH2}$.

에너지 생산이 가능한 무선 센서 네트워크에서 잔여 에너지 인지 듀티-사이클 스케줄링 기법 (Residual Energy-Aware Duty-Cycle Scheduling Scheme in Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • 네트워크 수명을 연장시키기 위해 무선 센서 네트워크에서는 idle listening에 소비되는 에너지를 줄일 수 있는 듀티-사이클 MAC 프로토콜들이 제안되었다. 일반적인 듀티-사이클 MAC 프로토콜에서 각 센서 노드는 잔여 에너지양을 기반으로 듀티-사이클 주기를 계산한다. 그러나 에너지 수집이 가능한 센서 네트워크에서 기존 듀티-사이클 주기는 에너지 수집률이 높은 센서 노드에 불필요한 sleep 지연을 발생시킨다. 따라서 우리는 이전 연구에서 잔여 에너지양과 에너지 수집률을 함께 고려하여 듀티 사이클-주기를 조절하는 듀티-사이클 스케줄링 기법을 제안하였다. 그러나 이러한 듀티-사이클 MAC 프로토콜들은 듀티 사이클-주기 변화에 따른 성능 차이를 고려하지 않고 듀티-사이클 주기를 항상 선형적으로 조절하므로, 응용의 요구사항에 맞는 최적의 듀티 사이클 주기를 얻지 못한다. 본 논문에서는 듀티-사이클 주기를 계산하는 세 가지 기법들을 제안하고 그 결과에 대해 분석한다. 실험을 통해 제안된 기법들이 기존 듀티-사이클 스케줄링 기법에 비해 네트워크 수명, 단대단 패킷 전송 시간과 패킷 전송률을 각각 최대 23%, 44%, 31% 증가시킴을 확인하였다.

  • IEEE 802.15.4 LR-WPAN에서 대부분의 디바이스는 배터리에 의존해 동작하기 때문에 효율적인 에너지 소비기능을 갖추도록 설계되어야 한다. 본 논문은 LR-WPAN에서 에너지 절약을 위한 두 개의 알고리즘, DDC(Dynamic Duty Cycle)와 DBT(: Dynamic Beacon Tracking)를 제안한다. DDC 알고리즘은 채널 상태에 따라 듀티 사이클을 동적으로 조정한다. DBT 알고리즘은 트래픽 조건에 따라 비콘 트래킹 모드를 적응적으로 제어한다. 또한, DDC와 DBT 알고리즘을 결합함으로써 프레임 전달률과 평균 지연 시간을 만족할 만한 수준으로 유지하면서 광범위한 입력 부하에 대해 효과적으로 에너지를 절약할 수 있다.

중형 디젤을 기초한 LPG엔진에서 배기가스온도 저감 연구 (A Study on Reduction of Exhaust Gas Temperature in Retrofitted LPG Fueled Engine Based Medium-Duty Diesel Engine)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate reduction of exhaust gas temperature in LPG conversion engine from diesel. A conventional diesel engine was modified to a LPG(Liquified Petroleum Gas) engine that diesel fuel injection pump was replaced by the LPG fuel system. The research was peformed with measurement of exhaust gas temperature by varying spark ignition timing, air-fuel ratio, compression ratio, EGR ratio and different compositions of butane and propane. The major conclusion of this work were followed. (i) Exhaust gas temperature was decreased and power was increased with the advanced spark ignition timing. (ii) Exhaust gas temperature was decreased with lean and rich air-fuel ratio. (iii)Exhaust gas temperature was decreased and power was increased with the higher compression ratio. (iv) Engine power and exhaust temperature were not influenced by varied butane/propane fuel compositions. (v) Finally, one of the important parameters in reduction of exhaust gas temperature is spark ignition timing among the parameters in this study.

  • Influence of frequency and duty ratio on electro-optical characteristics are experimentally investigated in surface AC plasma display panels(AC-PDPs) by using the VDS(Versitile Driving Simulator)., in which electrode gap and width are 100 ${\mu}m$ and 260 ${\mu}m$, respectively. The filling gas is Ne-Xe gas mixture, and total pressure 400 Torr. It is found that the response time gets to be fast from 450 ns to 150 ns as pulse-off time of the sustain pulse decreases from 2 ${\mu}s$ to 0.2 ${\mu}s$. Also it is found that the IR(Infra Red) intensity and the luminous decreases as pulse-off time of the sustain pulse increases from 0.2 ${\mu}s$ to 2 ${\mu}s$.
