A comparative study on the simulation of single-stage and multi-stage refrigeration cycle using propane as a refrigerant (프로판 냉매를 활용한 단일 및 다단 냉동 사이클의 전산모사 비교 연구)

  • In this study, comparison works have been performed for single-stage and multi-stage refrigeration cycle using propane as a refrigerant in order to cool down the natural gas stream. A comparative analysis has been performed for a single, two, three and four stage refrigeration cycle using propane as a refrigerant for cooling the natural gas stream. For the simulation, natural gas feedstock properties supplied by KOGAS were utilized and Peng-Robinson equation of state model was used. As the number of compression stages increase, the condenser heat duty is decreased. The refrigeration heat duty for a four-stage refrigeration cycle is decreased by 20.36% compared to that for a single-stage refrigeration cycle. Moreover, the total refrigerant circulation rate for a four-stage refrigeration system is was reduced by 14.53% compared to the single stage refrigeration cycle. The total compression power for a four-stage compression was reduced by 41.61% compared to the single stage compression.

  • Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE) is a representative break-through communication technology for wireless personal area networks on nowaday. In this environment, most of significant performance should be aiming to energy efficiency due to the policy for manufacturing light-weighted communication devices derived from requirement of world IoT market, and many researches have been developed to satisfy this requirement. While Bluetooth LE has been leading the low power communication technology required from the current market by employing duty cycle and frequency hopping approaches, it couldn't address the problem of reliability on broadcast transmissions. The main goal of this paper is aiming to addressing this problem by suggesting a new method. Furthermore analytic evaluations would also be proceeded to find objective results in the view point of broadcast transmission efficiency from Master device.

Domain formation and expansion during periodic poling of congruent $LiNbO_3$ using external field (조화용융조성 $LiNbO_3$의 주기적 분극 반전 동안 도메인 생성 및 이동에 관한 연구)

  • When external field was applied to congruent $LiNbO_3$, it was investgated for domain formation and expansion of $LiNbO_3$. The domain wall velocities of 0.5 mm thickness $LiNbO_3$ were 28.70, 16.02 and $5.75{\mu}m/sec$ under poling field of 23.5, 22.0 and 21.0 kV/mm, respectively. As $1 M{\Omega}$ resistor was used in domain inversion system, harmonic domain inversion was not achieved by rapid domain expansion. And 50% duty cycle periodically poled $LiNbO_3$ have been fabricated by charge control using $10 M{\Omega}$ resistor.

Performance Comparison and Its Verification of Spectrum Sharing Technologies Using Interference Load Concept (간섭부하 개념을 이용한 주파수 공동사용 기술의 성능비교 및 검증)

  • In this paper, we proposed a concept of interference load to analyze the performance of spectrum sharing technologies in unlicensed frequency bands. The interference load can quantitatively compare the technical properties of various spectrum sharing technologies, such as frequency hopping(FH), duty cycle(DC), listen-before-talk(LBT). Therefore, it can help to evaluate whether a local regulation about spectrum sharing is reasonably established or not. In order to verify the suggested concept, we applied it to 2.4 GHz frequency bands. Also, we demonstrated a real-time test-bed. Two bit error rate(BER) curves for FH with 10 random channels and DC of 10 %, show such good agreement that our proposed concept is expected to be widely used to assess various spectrum sharing technologies.

  • In this paper micro-scale solar energy harvesting system with a new MPPT control are proposed. In conventional solar energy harvesting systems, continuous perturbation techniques of the clock frequency or duty cycle of a power converter have been used to implement MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control. In this paper, we propose a new MPPT technique to control the duty cycle of a power switch powering a power converter. The proposed circuit is designed in $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process, and the designed chip area including pads is $770{\mu}m{\times}800{\mu}m$.

Design of Frequency Synthesizer using Novel Architecture Programmable Frequency Divider (새로운 구조의 프로그램어블 주파수 분주기를 사용한 주파수 합성기 설계)

  • In this paper, a novel architecture of programmable divider with fifty percent duty cycle output and programmable dividing number has been proposed. Through HSPICE simulation, a 900MHz frequency synthesizer with proposed frequency divider has designed in a standard 0.25$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology. To verify the operation of proposed frequency divider, a chip had been fabricated using 0.65$\mu\textrm{m}$ 2-poly, 3-metal standard CMOS processing and experimental result shows that the proposed frequency divider works well. The designed voltage controlled oscillator(VCO) has a center frequency of 900MHz, a tuning range of ${\pm}$10%, and a gain of 154MHz/V. The simulated frequency synthesizer performance has a settling time of 1.5${\mu}\textrm{s}$, a frequency range from 820MHz to 1GHz and power consumption of 70mW at 2.5V power supply voltage.

  • The IEEE 802.15.4 low rate wireless personal area network is a protocol suitable for wireless sensor networks. Thus there has been growing interest in the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol in the home automation networks. This paper proposes a scheduling scheme obtaining optimal parameters regarding the IEEE 802.15.4 frame and subframes in the home automation networks. Guaranteed time slots (GTS) are exploited for the delivery of real-time traffic. Given a set of the requirements for bandwidths and periods assigned to nodes in the network, the beacon interval and the active/inactive subframe duration satisfying the requirements are selected considering the low duty cycle by the proposed scheme. Based on these parameters, analytic results provide the way to efficient use of network resources including energy.

Effects of Low Level Laser Treatment Applied to KI 1 on the Gait Behavior in the Rat Model of CFA-Induced Arthritis (흰쥐 관절염 모델에서 용천 저출력 레이저 자극이 보행행동에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : The aim of the study is to investigate the effects of low level laser treatment (LLLT) on the gait behavior in the rat model of arthritis. Methods : Knee arthritis was induced by the injection of $125{\mu}l$ of Complete Freund's Adjuvant(CFA) into the right hind knee joint cavity. Arthritic rats were divided 3 groups; arthritis group was used for control(CON), 10 min of laser treated group(LSR10), and 30 min of laser treated group(LSR30). LLLT was applied to KI 1 for 11 times under gaseous anesthesia. We performed several analyses under catwalk test including stand and swing time, duty cycle of paw steps, intensity and print area of steps, and stride length. Results : Stand and duty cycle of paw steps were increased significantly at 12 days after arthritis induction in LSR30 group. Swing time was decreased significantly at 12 days after arthritis induction in LSR10 group. In the analysis of intensity, print area and stride length, however, results did not show statistical significance during the time point of experiments. Conclusions : The data suggest that LLLT on the rat model of CFA induced arthritis showed beneficial effects by increase of stand time and duty cycle of paw steps and decrease of swing time. Therefore, LLLT could be useful option to improve gait discomfort in arthritis patients.

A Period Adaptive Wakeup Technique based on Receive Prediction for WSN (무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 수신 예측 기반 주기 적응적 웨이크업 기법)

  • For the sensor node or collection node operating with a battery in a wireless sensor network, MAC protocols with improved energy efficiency are important performance factors. In this paper, in order to improve the restrictive capability in accordance with the fixed activity period of the duty cycle technology in the MAC protocol for wireless sensor networks, we propose a periodic adaptive wakeup technique based on receive prediction. The proposed technique is through a performance evaluation using the CC2500 RF transceiver and C8051F330 microcontroller based wireless node, to analyze the minimum active period. As a result, it was confirmed that it is possible to improve energy efficiency by adaptively changing the sleep period in accordance with the change of period.
