A Simple and Reliable Molecular Detection Method for Tomato yellow leaf curl virus in Solanum lycopersicum without DNA Extraction

  • In the present work, a pair of primers specific to Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) was designed to allow specific amplification of DNA fragments from any TYLCV isolates using an extensive alignment of the complete genome sequences of TYLCV isolates deposited in the GenBank database. A pair of primers which allows the specific amplification of tomato ${\beta}$-tubulin gene was also analyzed as an internal PCR control. A duplex PCR method with the developed primer sets showed that TYLCV could be directly detected from the leaf crude sap of infected tomato plants. In addition, our developed duplex PCR method could determine PCR errors for TYLCV diagnosis, suggesting that this duplex PCR method with the primer sets is a good tool for specific and sensitive TYLCV diagnosis. The developed duplex PCR method was further verified from tomato samples collected from some farms in Korea, suggesting that this developed PCR method is a simple and reliable tool for rapid and large-scale TYLCV detections in tomato plants.

Effects of Rare Earth Metals Addition and Aging Treatment on the Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Properties of Super Duplex Stainless Steels

  • Effects of rare earth metals addition and aging treatment on corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of super duplex stainless steels were investigated using optical/SEM/TEM metallographic examination, an X-ray diffraction test, a potentiodynamic anodic polarization test and a tensile test. The performance of the experimental alloy with 0.32% REM addition was compared with commercial super duplex stainless steel such as SAF 2507 when they were exposed to solution annealing heat treatment and aging treatment. The corrosion resistance in CF environments and mechanical properties of the experimental alloy were found superior to those of the commercial duplex stainless steel. The REM with larger atomic radii than those of Cr, Mo and W may fill vacancies inside the matrix and around the grain boundaries, retarding formation of harmful intermetallic σ and χ phases. In addition, fine REM oxides/oxy-sulfides (1-3㎛) seemed to enhance the retardation effects. With REM additions, strength and ductility increased due to the phase and grain refinement caused by fine REM oxides and oxy-sulfides.

  • Duplex stainless steel finds increasing use as an alternative to austenitic stainless steel, particularly where chloride or sulphide stress corrosion cracking is of primary concern, due to the excellent combination of strength and corrosion resistance. During welding, duplex stainless steel does not create the same magnitude or distribution of weld-induced residual stresses as those in welded austenitic stainless steel due to the different physical and mechanical properties between them. In this work, an experimental study on the residual stresses in butt-welded duplex stainless steel is performed utilizing the layering technique to investigate the characteristics of residual stresses in the weldment.

  • The key concept of NOMA among 5G network technologies is to set the power allocation coefficient for each node. In this study, we implemented the algorithm that calculates the uplink/downlink power allocation coefficients which is the key concept of NOMA technology through analysis of minimum SNR required for successful decoding at the receiver, based on Full Duplex NOMA relay system. The performance comparison between the proposed algorithm and the existing power allocation methods is performed and the performance is confirmed in terms of ergodic sum capacity and outage probability.

  • The effects of nitrogen on the deformation behavior of duplex stainless steel have been studied The variation of strength was correlated with the characteristic microstructures. Analysis based on Hall-Petch relation confirmed that nitrogen enhances phase-boundary strengthening effect. The evolution of dislocation structure, slip traces, and misorientation distribution during deformation were also characterized to elucidate the effect of nitrogen on inelastic deformation mechanism.

  • This study is to investigate the characteristics of fatigue crack propagation in rolled super duplex stainless steel that was changed austenite-ferrite volume fraction by heat treatment. It was used two kinds of specimen the rolling and the transverse directions δ-phase fraction affected sound velocity hardness and Young's modulus. Characteristics of fatigue crack propagation was affected by anisotropy and (δ+γ) phase volume fractions.

  • 본고에서는 5세대 이동통신 핵심기술 중 하나인 전이중 (full-duplex) 전송기술의 이득을 성취할 수 있는 새로운 접근 방법인 가상 전이중 (virtual full-duplex) 중계전송 기법에 대해서 알아본다. 이는 아직 실제적인 제약들을 해결해야 하는 전이중 중계전송 기술의 대안으로 반이중 (half-duplex) 중계기 2개를 하나의 가상 중계기로 고려함으로써 네트워크 차원에서는 송신과 수신이 동시에 이루어지도록 하여 전이중 중계전송의 효과를 얻는 기술이다. 본고에서는 먼저, 중계기에서 메모리를 고려하지 않고, 2개의 중계기를 번갈아 가면서 사용하는 2경로 (two-path) 교차 (alternating) 중계전송 기법을 살펴보고, 다음으로 중계기에 버퍼를 장착한 다수 중계기 네트워크에서 가상 전이중 중계전송 기법에 대해서 알아본다.

Formation of Niobium Oxide Film with Duplex Layers by Galvanostatic Anodization

  • Studies on niobium anodization in the mixture of 1 M $H_3PO_4$ and 1 wt % HF at galvanostatic anodization are described here in detail. Interestingly, duplex niobium oxide consisting of thick barrier oxide and correspondingly thick porous oxide was prepared at a constant current density of higher than 0.3 $mAcm^{-2}$, whereas simple porous type oxide was formed at a current density of lower than 0.3 $mAcm^{-2}$. In addition, simple barrier or porous type oxide was obtained by galvanostatic anodization at a single electrolyte of either 1 M $H_3PO_4$ or 1 wt % HF, respectively. The formation mechanism of duplex type structures was ascribed to different forming voltages required for moving anions.

Influence of the Cooling Rate on the Phase Precipitation of Super Duplex Stainless Steel (슈퍼 듀플렉스 스테인리스강의 응고·냉각 시 상석출에 미치는 냉각속도의 영향)

  • This work presents the effect of the cooling rate on the precipitation of super duplex stainless steel. Specimens of super duplex stainless steel with a specific composition were cooled at various cooling rates after being melted at $1550^{\circ}C$ in a directional solidification furnace. Ferrite (${\delta}$), Austenite (${\gamma}$), Sigma (${\sigma}$), and Chi (${\chi}$) phases were precipitated when the cooling rate was lower than 0.22 K/s. When the cooling rate was 0.22 K/s or faster, ${\sigma}$ and ${\chi}$ phases were not precipitated.
