  • This paper describes a new voltage recorder for the voltage management of a power distribution line by using a new voltage measurement technique. The RMS(Root Mean Square) voltage measurement for the power line under the assumption of a sinusoidal input voltage is taken by the full-wave rectifier, half-adder utilizing operational amplifier(OP) circuit. A/D converter utilizing a dual slope converter converts an analog voltage signal into a serial pulse. The pulse is counted with a single chip micro-controller, converted with the RMS voltage, and saved into a flash memory. In the last, a new voltage recorder with compact size and multifunction is developed. Also, Voltage Management System that can analyze the stored data via RS-232C cable is developed based on Windows 95 and Visual C++.

  • Effect of coulomb friction and backlash on the single loop posit ion control has been studied for the precision position control. We studied and showed the limit cycle on the single loop system which used a ball screw that had the backlash. Also, We made an inner loop with a classical velocity and torque controller which was forcing the $i_d$ current to be zero by using a permanent-magnet synchronous motor and composed the outer loop with linear sensor for sensing a position of the loader. We have been shown a good result by using the dual loop through numerical simulation method.

  • A small engine-oil-deterioration detection sensor was developed and installed at the tip of a dipstick gage. The sensor part was manufactured using printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing technology. A set of sensor covers was installed in order to protect the sensor and realize good signal stability. The small engine-oil-deterioration detection sensor system comprised a dual sensor having etched copper electrodes coated with gold and ceramic, a flexible PCB (FPCB) acting as electric wire, and a dummy PCB with only a lock connector. The sensor can easily be installed by insertion through the guide tube of a dipstick gage. Thus, a driver can easily handle it without further installation equipment. The sensor can determine the level of deterioration in the engine oil by estimating the corresponding dielectric constant of the engine oil.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a brassiere sizing chart for elderly women. 2 control dimensions(under bust girth and cup size) were chosen as 2 axes of brassiere size chart. A loss function was used to determined intervals of under bust girth and cup size of size chart, because the loss function introduces the concept of frequency to size chart for better customer's satisfaction. From the dual distribution table whose intervals had been determined by a loss function. The 15 sizs, which had more than 2% of appearance were suggested for brassiere size chart. The suggested brassiere sizes covered 87.6% of all subjects. Considering that KS brassiere size chart consisting of 32 sizes covers 88.5%, the suggested brassiere size chart would be considered quite feasible. Also it is suggested supply reference measurement chart relevant to brassiere manufacturing for 10 most frequent sizes.

  • This paper presents robustness properties of the Kalman Filter ad the associated LQG/LTR method for linear time-invariant systems having delays in both the state and output. A circle condition relating to the return difference matrix associated with the Kalman filter is derived. Using this circle condition, it is shown that the Kalman filter guarantees(1/2, .inf.) gain margin and .+-.60.deg. phase margin, which are the same as those for nondelay systems. However, it is shown that, even for minimum phase plants, the LQG/LTR method can not recover the target loop transfer function. Instead, an upper bound on the recovery error is obtained using an upper bound of the solution of the Kalman filter Riccati equations. Finally, some dual properties between output-delated system and input-delayed systems are exploited.

  • Progress in the LCD industries has been very rapid. Therefore, their manufacturing lines require larger LCD glass-handling robots and more precise path control of the robots. In this paper, we present two practical advanced algorithms for high-precision path generation of an LCD glass-handling robot. One is high-precision path interpolation for continuous motion, which connects several single motions and is a reliable solution for a short robot cycle time. We demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can reduce path error by approximately 91% compared with existing algorithms without increasing cycle time. The second is real-time static deflection compensation, which can optimally compensate the static deflection of the handling robot without any additional sensors, measurement instruments or mechanical axes. This reduces vertical path error to approximately 60% of the existing system error. All of these algorithms have been commercialized and applied to a seventh-generation LCD glass-handling robot.

  • This paper presents how it is effective to use many features for improving the speed and the accuracy of the visual servo systems. Some rank conditions which relate the image Jacobian and the control performance are derived. It is also proven that the accuracy is improved by increasing the number of features. Effectiveness of the redundant features is evaluated by the smallest singular value of the image Jacobian which is closely related to the accuracy with respect to the world coordinate system. Usefulness of the redundant features is verified by the real time experiments on a Dual-Arm Robot manipulator made in Samsung Electronic Co. Ltd

  • The skin of the Korean bullheads, Pseudobagrus brevicorpus and P. koreanus, is composed of epidermis, dermis and subcutis. The epidermis has three layers, the outermost layer, middle layer and stratum germinativum. The epidermis consists of two types of gland cells, an unicellular mucous cell of sulfomucin and a large club cell having sometimes two nuclei. The epidermis has numerous intraepithelial blood vessels in P. brevicorpus but not at all in P. koreanus. Lymphatic spaces containing lymphocytes are well developed in mainly the stratum germinativum. The dermis lacks scales and consists mostly of bundles of coarse collagen fibers. The collagen bundles are arranged in parallel to each other in the dorsum and lateral region toward the dorsum, but vertically at intervals in the abdomen and lateral region toward the abdomen. Considering this unique skin structure, the two species are likely to exercise cutaneous respiration as a dual respiratory system to overcome hypoxic conditions which frequently occurs in their habitats.

  • In this study, we present a mobile robot for ultrasonic scanning of weldment. magnetic Caterpillar mechanism is selected in order to travel on the inclined surface and vertical wall. A motion control board and motor driver are developed to control four DC-servo motors. A virtual device driver is also developed for the purpose of communicating between the control board and a host PC with Dual 'port ram. To provide the mobile robot with stable and accurate movement, PID control algorithm is applied to the mobile robot control. And a vision system for detecting the weld-line are developed with laser slit beam as a light source. In the experiments, movement of the mobile robot is tested inclined on a surface and a vertical wall.
