  • A robust motion control method is proposed fur the point-to-point position control of a XY positioning system which consists of a base cart, elastic ben and moving mass. The horizontal motion controller consists of the feedforward controller to suppress the single mode vibration of the elastic beam and the feedback controller to get the high-accuracy positioning performance of the base cart. Input preshaping vibration suppression method based on system modeling with analytic frequency equation is proposed and integrated into the robust internal-loop compensator(RIC) to increase the robustness of the whole closed-loop system The vertical motion controller is proposed based on the dual RIC structure. Through experiments, it is shown that the proposed method can stabilize the system and suppress the vibration in the presence of uncertainties and disturbances.

  • This paper describes design and performance test of dual-mode horn antenna for HAPS (High Altitude Platform Station) in 47.2 - 47.5 GHz and 47.9 - 48.2 GHz bands. To obtain the optimal geometry parameters of it. the conical section is represented by a stepped transition composed of a set of cylindrical waveguide sections. For each step. the corresponding generalized scattering matrix is calculated. The elements of the matrices at the open end of the horn, are calculated by the rigorous formulas of the factorization method. To verify the theoretical results, a horn breadboard was manufactured for the medium frequency of 47.7 GHz and its radiation beam patterns were measured. The calculated and theoretical results are in good agreement.

  • This paper presents the design method of EMC(Electromagnetic Coupling) microstrip array antenna for CS(Communication Satellite) system. Microstrip dipole antennas are attractive elements owing to the desirable properties such as simplicity, small size and linear polarization. From the optimum simulation results by the FDTD method[1], design parameters such as EMC dipole length, width, height and offset are discussed at 12CHz. The array characteristics of 5-elements and 10-elements array are also presented. By adjusting geometry of model antenna, we can design dual polarization EMC microstrip dipole antenna for CS system. Direction of nam beam is easily tilted by the control of distance between dipole elements.

  • In this paper we analyze the performance of a DS/CDMA system in LEO mobile satellite channels. The channel uses the Extended Suzuki model which is the product of a Rician distribution having a LOS component and a lognormal distribution due to shadowing. We assume that the signal transmitted from the satellite to the mobile undergoes the same fading for the whole coverage of signal's beam. The average bit error probabilities of double coverage system is calculated in this paper. The interference resulting from the reference satellite is calculated for mobile located in the middle of the double coverage region whereas the additive interference from next-satellite is included for mobile located in the edge of the double coverage region. The performance of the mobile's receiving signal is dependent on shadowing and the interference of the next-satellite. We can obtain an obtain an improved average bit error probability by using dual diversity over the conventional correlated receiver for similar shadowing conditions in the coverage area of the satellite channel.

  • The evolution of X-ray computed tomography (CT) has been based on the discovery of X-rays, the inception of the Radon transform, and the development of X-ray digital data acquisition systems and computer technology. Unlike conventional X-ray imaging (general radiography), CT reconstructs cross-sectional anatomical images of the internal structures according to X-ray attenuation coefficients (approximate tissue density) for almost every region in the body. This article reviews the essential physical principles and technical aspects of the CT scanner, including several notable evolutions in CT technology that resulted in the emergence of helical, multidetector, cone beam, portable, dual-energy, and phase-contrast CT, in integrated imaging modalities, such as positron-emission-tomography-CT and single-photon-emission-computed-tomography-CT, and in clinical applications, including image acquisition parameters, CT angiography, image adjustment, versatile image visualizations, volumetric/surface rendering on a computer workstation, radiation treatment planning, and target localization in radiotherapy. The understanding of CT characteristics will provide more effective and accurate patient care in the fields of diagnostics and radiotherapy, and can lead to the improvement of image quality and the optimization of exposure doses.

  • This building is a forty-eight story, 170 meters high multiple dwelling house with Dual Frame System (DFS), a coupled vibration system connecting two independent structures with hydraulic dampers. Generation of large deformation between two structures during earthquakes contributes to make the hydraulic dampers effective. To improve the aseismic performance more, this building adopts DFS hybrid system that consists of DFS and base isolation system. About typical floors, columns and beams are constructed with LRV precast concrete method that shorten the construction period greatly by integrating column-beam joints in column members.

  • We have made the single side hand filter for the dual channel receiver which is a heterodyne receiver to observe the cosmic radio waves with 100GHz band ranged from 85GHz to 115GHz and 150GHz band ranged from 125GHz to 175GHz simultaneously. We have introduced the filter theory using the principle of the Martion-Puplett interferometer, which has the characteristics of rotated polarization. To reduce the loss of the transmission and beam coupling which are caused from the path difference associated with the intermediate frequency the design and the implementation have been intensely considered. The receiver needs two filters with different characteristics each other. Because each of them has the optimum positions as a function frequency at which the signal frequency is fed to mixer and the image frequency is rejected to the image termination load. The intermediate frequency and its band width have been also evaluated. We have measured the property of two filters using the vector network analyser and the beam measurement system which is made by us. The responses of the filter as a function of the position and the frequency are compared with the theory. It is shown that not only the measured values are very close to the theoretical values, but also the image rejection ratios are better than 22dB for both filters. Through successful observation using a dual channel receiver with two manufactured filters, the performance of the filters has finally verified.

  • We present our activities linking to planning of possible forms of large program to study on circumstellar H2O and SiO maser sources with KaVA. A great advantage of KaVA for the stellar maser observations is the combination of the unique capability of the multi-frequency phase referencing technique of KVN and the dual-beam astrometry of VERA with the KaVA's relative dense antenna configuration. We have demonstrated this advantage through the test observations conducted by the KaVA Evolved Stars Sub-working Group since 2012 March. Snapshot KaVA imaging is confirmed to be possible in integration time of 0.5 hour at the 22 GHz band and 1.0 hour at the 43 GHz band in typical cases. This implies that large snapshot imaging surveys towards many H2O and SiO stellar masers are possible within a reasonable machine time (e.g., scans on ~100 maser sources within 200 hours). This possibility enables us to select the maser sources, which are suitable for future long-term (10 years) intensive (biweekly-monthly) monitoring observations, from 1000 potential target candidates selected from dual-frequency band (K/Q-bands) KVN single-dish observations. The output of the survey programs will be used for statistical analysis of the structures of individual stellar maser clumps and the spatio-kinematical structures of circumstellar envelopes with accelerating outflows. The combination of astrometry in milliarcsecond(mas) level and the multi-phase referencing technique yields not only trigonometric parallax distances to the masers but also precise position reference for registration of different maser lines. The accuracy of the map registration affects interpretation of the excitation mechanism of the SiO maser lines and the origin of the variety of the maser actions, which are expected to reflect periodic behaviors of the circumstellar envelope with stellar pulsation. Currently we are checking the technical feasibility of KaVA operations for this combination. After this feasibility test, the long-term monitoring campaign program will run as one of KaVA's legacy projects.

  • A linear analysis method using reduced secant stiffness was developed for inelastic earthquake design of reinforced concrete structures. In the proposed method, the beam-column element and plane element, which are the same as used in conventional elastic analysis, are used for structural modeling. Based on the structural plastic mechanism intended by engineer, the distribution of inelastic members is determined. The secant stiffness of the inelastic members is determined based on the target ductility of the structure. Inelastic strengths of the members are calculated by using linear analysis on the structure modeled with secant stiffness. Plastic rotations in the inelastic members are calculated with the nodal rotations resulting from the secant stiffness analysis. For verification, the proposed method was applied to the inelastic earthquake designs of a moment-resisting frame and a dual system of two dimensions, and also a dual system of three dimensions.
