  • In Condebelt press drying system, the temperature difference between top and bottom plate of Condebelt transfers water to bottom side, Fine fibers, stickies , ink , and various inorganic materials are also migrated to the fine wire located at the bottom plate by highly pressurized moisture flow. As a result, the fine wire contaminated by plugging of these fine and sticky materials can cause many problems such as blistering or partial crushing of paper. The contaimination of fine wire leads to a deterioroated strength together with uneven physical properties of paper. In this paper, froth-flotatiion method, which is commonly used in the field of ONP recycling process, were adopted to separate the contaminants in KOCC as a new fiber fractionation method. Standard deviation of paper strength and brighteness decreased of Condebelt fine wire were measured to investigate the effect of contaminants removal . The standard deviations of paper strength obtained from the flotated accept were not dependent on the number of condebelt press drying . However, in the case of untreated KOCC, the standard deviations were increased as press drying repeated. This indicates that the contaminant gives uneven physical properties to the paper by wire plugging . Optical and SEM images clearly illustrate the effect of contaminants on the wire condition.

Characteristics of the 3rd day of 5th instar silkworm powder: effect of preparation method

  • Silkworm powder was prepared from 3rd day of 5th instar silkworm through various drying technology including freeze drying, hot wind drying, infrared drying, and microwave drying. The shape of silkworm dried was different with the drying methods. Freeze drying and microwave drying silkworm looked its original form, but hot wind drying and infrared drying silkworm looked shriveled and crumpled. The color of silkworm powder freeze-dried changed from yellowish green to hazel with lowering freezing temperature. Heavy metals including Pb, Cd, As, and Hg were lower the food criteria. The results of 1-deoxynojirimycin analysis was shown that BaekOkJam and GoldenSilk silkworm powder was satisfied the criteria of functional food, but YeonNokJam silkworm powder was lower than the criteria. The amino acid composition of silkworm was similar regardless of the frozen temperature in freeze drying process.

복분자의 포제방법에 따른 추출물 특성 (Extraction Characteristics of Rubi Fructus in Relation to Drying Methods and Extraction Solutions)

  • 복분자의 포제에 있어 건조방법이 추출특성에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위하여 생복분자 딸기를 5분간 증자하고, 자연 양건, 적외선 건조 또는 동결건조한 다음 20 mesh 크기로 분쇄하고, 열수나 40% 에탄올(80$^circC$)로 3시간 추출한 후 추출액의 이화학적 특성 및 항산화성을 조사하였다. 가용성 고형분과 총당의 추출수율은 동결건조품에서 가장 높았고 다음으로 적외선 건조품, 양건품 순이었으며, 건조법에 무관하게 에탄올보다는 물 추출액에서 높게 나타났다. 유기산의 추출수율과 추출액의 pH는 물 추출에서는 건조방법별 차이가 없었으나 에탄올 추출에서는 동결건조품에서 다소 높고 낮은 경향을 보였다. 총페놀의 추출수율과 추출액의 유리기 소거능은 동결 건조품, 적외선 건조품, 양건품 순이었으며, 물보다 에탄올 추출에서 높게 나타났다. 동결건조품에서 L값은 가장 높았고 a와 b값은 가장 낮았으며, 물보다 에탄올 추출에서 L과 b값은 높았으나 a값은 낮게 나타났다. 이로써 복분자 포제에 있어 전통적 자연 양건보다는 적외선 및 동결건조 특히, 동결건조의 적용에 의해 품질향상이 가능하며, 또한 총가용성 성분의 추출에는 물 추출이, 항산화성 성분의 추출에는 에탄올 추출이 유리한 것으로 확인되었다.

  • Post harvest processes for rice include drying, storage and processing. Drying has a great effect on the quality of the grain. The existing rice centers are with the ill equipped, especially with drying and storage facilities. The rice harvesting has bully mechanized, a large volume of rice with high moisture content are taken to the rice processing complex(RPC). Three, the need for drying and storage facilities becomes more urgent. At present the daily drying capacity of RPC can't exceed over 40~50 M/T. Therefore new technology and facilities for a high quality and main efficient drying should be introduced one such technology is the continuous flow drying system. This research, aims to test performance efficiency the mixed continuous flow grain dryer was whose daily drying capacity is 100 M/T. The results of the performance tests of the dryer are shown as follows; (1) The temperature distribution of the drying modules were measured by a temperature recorder. The fifth module showed the highest value, followed by the seventh and the third. (2) When the intake air temperature was $55^{circ}C$, the drying rates were 1.7 and 2.6%, wb/pass in the exhaust temperatures of 20 and $22^{circ}C$. And when the intake air temperature was $60^{circ}C$, the drying rates were 1.7 and 2.3%, wb/pass in the exhaust temperatures of 22 and $25^{circ}C$. (3) The average increased rate of cracked grains after the drying process was 0.7% which is below the tolerance limit (2.0%) of the continuous grain dryer.

전처리 방법에 따른 채소류의 열풍건조특성 (Effect of Pretreatments on the Drying Characteristics of Dried Vegetables)

  • 건조채소류의 제조시 품질손상을 줄이고자 삼투건조와 steam 및 boiling water, microwave를 이용하여 전처리를 행한 후 열풍건조하여 적절한 전처리 방법을 알아보고자 건조와 재수화 공정을 행하여 각 공정의 물리적인 특성을 조사하였으며, 기존의 건조 모델을 적용하여 수분이동 메카니즘을 설명하고, 건조당근의 관능적 특성을 조사하였다. 전처리는 처리시간이 길수록 수분과 carotene 함량이 낮아졌으나 물리적인 특성을 고려하여 최적 처리 시간을 STEAM과 WATER 는 각 10분, MICRO는 1분으로 결정하였다. 최적 조건에서 전처리를 행한 후 $69^{\circ}C$, 상대습도 33%의 열풍건조 조건에서 건조를 행한 후 열탕에서 10분간 재수화 하여 carotene 및 수분함량, 색도와 복원율 등을 알아본 결과, 건조 효율은 타처리구가 삼투처리보다 우수하였으나 carotene 함량은 삼투건조가 높은 값을 보였고 그 효과는 재수화 후에도 지속하였다. 전처리를 각기 달리한 당근의 품질에 대하여 관능검사를 실시한 결과, 외관과 색도 그리고 종합적인 기호면에서 건조 후의 품질은 삼투처리한 열풍건조의 경우가 전처리 하지 않은 동결건조 처리구 보다 건조 및 재수화 후 높은 점수를 나타내었다. 건조공정을 기존의 건조모델로 표현하고자 적합성 여부를 조사해 본 결과 전처리방법에 관계없이 quadratic 모델이 가장 높은 적합도를 보여 수분의 이동을 시간의 함수로 나타낼 수 있었다. 재수화 공정에의 적용성은 기존의 건조 및 흡습모델로 표현하기는 미흡한 것으로 나타났다.

  • A field experiment was carried out to determine the effects of conditioning methods and tedding frequency on the drying rate and quality of Italian ryegrass hay. Italian ryegrass was cut with three types of mower conditioners (un conditioned, impeller, roller) and tedded with rake-tedder once or twice daily during field curing. The field drying rate of Italian ryegrass hay was the highest in roller conditioner. Conditioning treatment shorten the date from 1 to 1.5 compare with unconditioned. Drying rate of Italian ryegrass plant had been affected by tedding frequency within 3 days after it was cut, but it was ineffective after 3 days. There is no effect on acid detergent fiber (ADF) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) but effect crude protein (CP) and relative feed value (RFV) by conditioning treatment in nutritive value of Italian ryegrass hay.

  • This study was performed to obtain the basic data of the effect of antimicrobic finishing on chrome-tanned leather for apparel. This study was to examine the effect of conditions of antimicrobic finishing on content of antimicrobic agents in the specimen by analysis and on the antimicrobic activity of specimens by means of shake flask test. The optimum conditions of antimicrobic finishing were found to be ; the concentration of Si-QAC-0.5%(o.w.f.), treating time-30minute, and drying method-air drying.

종이의 구조 특성에 미치는 미세섬유의 영향 (The Influence of Pulp Fines on Paper Structural Characteristics)

  • Paper has fibers and fines network structure and it is strongly affected by interface bond-ing between fibers. Paper structural properties can be determined depending on the inter-fiber bonding. Fines play an important role in Campbell and consolidation effect through wet pressing and drying operations. The fines are essential for the formation of bonds between fibers and for the improvement of strength properties of papers. Since the fines are components of the pulp, there are always two factors to be considered: the quality and quantity of the fines. The quality of fines might be a potential variable to give a more accurate picture of the papermaking potential of the pulp. The object of this study is to investigate the effect of different types of pulp fines on the properties of paper and to access the potential of fines for controlling the bulk of paper. Refined Sw-BKP, Hw-BKP and BCTMP fines were used to investigate the fines effect. Wet-web strength, breaking length, scattering coefficient, and hydrodynamic specific volume, and drying shrinkage were measured. According to the results, chemical and morphological compositions of fines do not strongly affect to wet-web forming by their similar Campbell effect, but strongly affect to drying operation which forms hydrogen bonding among fiber-fines-fiber matrixes. Paper bulk should be controlled by the extent of hydrogen bonding between fibers during drying operation.

농축 및 건조방법에 따른 생강 추출액 분말의 품질변화 (Quality of Ginger Powder as Affected by Concentration and Dehydration Methods of Ginger Extracts)

  • 생강 추출액의 저장안정성을 제공하기 위하여 적정농축 및 건조방법을 선정코자 감압증류 및 RO(역삼투압)에 의한 농축과 냉동 및 분무건조방법별로 분말화한 다음 관능특성을 비롯한 이화학적인 품질특성을 비교하여 보았다. 농축 및 건조방법별 분말제품을 제조한 결과 갈변도는 감압증류법이 RO보다. 분무건조가 냉동건조보다 갈변이 덜 진행된 상태인 반면에 당 함량이나 유리아미노산은 농축방법의 영향을 인식할 수 없었으나 건조방법에 있어서는 냉동건조시 대체로 이들 성분의 손실율을 적게할 수 있었다. 효소적 액화추출액 분말은 생강 추출액 분말보다 단백질과 조회분함량이 낮은 반면 조지방 함량은 약간 높게 나타났으며, 농축 및 건조 중 갈변도와 유리 아미노산의 변화율을 생강 추출액 분말보다 억제하면서 용해도를 증가시킬 수 있는 효과가 있었다. 또한 생강분말에 대한 기호도 검사결과, 농축방법에서는 생강 추출액 및 효소적 액화추출액에서 RO농축한 제품이 우수한 결과를 보였으며 건조방법에서는 냉동건조가 우수한 결과를 나타내었다. 특히 효소적 액화 추출액의 경우에는 RO농축한 후 냉동건조하면 종합 기호도에 있어서 생강추출액 분말에 대한 기호도 특성과 거의 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

Hydrogen Bonding Effect on γ-Ray Irradiated Poly(vinyl alcohol) Hydrogels in Different Drying Conditions

  • Three-dimensional network hydrogels were prepared by ${\gamma}$-irradiation of aqueous solutions of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and glycerol (Gly). Oven-drying was used to measure the gel fraction (G), hydration (H) or swelling behavior (S) of the prepared hydrogels. This study made a hypothesis that hydrogen bonds due to addition of glycerol and change of dry states such as freeze-drying (FD), room-drying (RD) and oven-drying (OD) acts on the G, H, and S. Interesting results on the hydrogen bonding effect in the prepared hydrogels are monitored at different drying conditions. The FD samples have a higher G values with increase in glycerol content as compared with the OD and RD samples. The formation of strong hydrogen bonding network among Gly molecules and hydrogel matrix was considered as the main driving force, resulting in the changes in the G, H, and S of the hydrogels under different drying conditions.
