  • An automation process of filter unit is presented for the application of the assembling procedure and dry furnace work. By that automation procedure, it is expected to enhance working environment such as reducing laboring load, harmful gas, and burning scald. Furthermore, this automation process also minimizes via standardization of manufacturing process so that it may increase productivity and reliability. An automation process of filter unit is presented for the application of the assembling procedure and dry furnace work. Filter automation process also gives a good quality and productivity by simplifying to only one line from the complicated process such as filter cutting$\rightarrow$ adhering$\rightarrow$fabricating in a very small space. It is found that a new conceptual design of dry furnace shows the better quality like uniform heat distribution compared to the conventional design. It is also found that the present design gives a better working environment by adding cooling system.

  • Background: Aging trials are conducted to determine characteristics associated with dry- and wet-aging processes of beef from delivered cows grown in Okinawa, i.e., dams that have finished giving birth (Okinawan delivered cow beef). Changes in free amino acids, hardness, and other factors were analyzed in round of Okinawan delivered cow beef during dry- and wet-aging processes along with a comparison with characteristics of beef imported from Australia. Results: Functional amino acids did not increase during both dry- and wet-aging processes. However, proteinogenic amino acids increased significantly (P < 0.05) and hardness tended to decrease during both dry- and wet-aging processes. On comparison between dry- and wet-aging processes by analysis of variance, drip and cooking losses were significantly lower during the dry-aging process than during the wet-aging process. However, there was no significant difference in free amino acids or hardness in this comparison. Conclusion: There was no significant difference between dry- and wet-aging methods for all studied variables related to free amino acids or hardness in this study.

  • We investigated the impact of NF3 / H2O remote plasma dry cleaning conditions on the SiO2 etching rate at different preparation states during the fabrication of ultra-large-scale integration (ULSI) devices. This included consideration of factors like Si crystal orientation prior to oxidation and three-dimensional structures. The dry cleaning process were carried out varying the parameters of pressure, NF3 flow rate, and H2O flow rate. We found that the pressure had an effective role in controlling anisotropic etching when a thin SiO2 layer was situated between Si3N4 and Si layers in a multilayer trench structure. Based on these observations, we would like to provide further guidelines for implementing the dry cleaning process in the fabrication of semiconductor devices having 3D structures.

  • As the shortage of natural & good quality aggregate for concrete, it is needed development of alternative aggregate. At the present time, the crushed sand is widely used among the alternation aggregate, and the usage of crushed sand will be increased more and more. Generally, crushed sud is produced with wet process in domestic, but some manufacturing companies which are handicapped with local restrict are produced by dry process. In this study, analyzing the facilities of dry crushed sand, the quality properties of dry crushed sand was done by Korean Industrial Standards. Based on the quality results of dry crushed sand, the experiment of concrete with the dry crushed sand which is substitute for sea sand was done. As the results of basic qualities, the amount of 0.08 mm sieve passing ratio was over KS criteria, and the fineness modulus was higher than sea sand, and the other physical properties of dry crushed sand was similar to sea sand. The results of concrete experiment, according to the substitutive ratio of dry crushed sand is increased, the slump and air content of concrete was decreased by increase of fine particles of dry crushed sand, and the unit weight content, compressive & tensile strength of concrete were increased on the contrary. The physical properties of concrete used dry crushed sand were showed same tendency without relation to W/B. Consequently, if the fine particle contents of dry crushed sand was lower, it is judged that dry crushed sand is no problem to use for concrete aggregate and the amount of usage will be increased.

  • For the purpose of developing a safe & hygienic manufacturing method to acquire low levels of benzo(a)pyrene in black and red ginseng products, this study investigated the effects of steam- and dry-processing temperatures on benzo(a)pyrene production in ginseng. By the red ginseng with a fix dry-process temperature of $50^{\circ}C$ and setting the steam-process temperature between $80{\sim}120^{\circ}C$, an extremely small amount(0.1 ppb) of benzo(a)pyrene was produced, indicating there was no relationship between the steam-temperature and benzo(a)pyrene production. On the other hand, when the red and black ginseng were steamed at the fixed temperature of $100^{\circ}C$ and dried at various temperatures between $50{\sim}120^{\circ}C$, the amount of benzo(a)pyrene produced was closely connected with the dry-temperature, and increased with higher drying temperatures. Upon repeating the steam and dry process nine times, in which the steam-temperature was set at $100^{\circ}C$ and the dry-temperature at $50^{\circ}C$, higher amount of benzo(a)pyrene were produced in red and black ginseng, respectively, with increasing steam- and dry-processing time. However, the level of benzo(a)pyrene still remained extremely small(below 0.12 ppb), showing a maximum amount in the black ginseng that was steamed and dried nine times. This suggests that the fine root of ginseng may be carbonized by increasing the number of times it is steam- and dry-processed. From the above results, this study determined that the optimum temperatures for manufacturing red and black ginseng products with safe levels of benzo(a)pyrene would be a temperature between 80 and $120^{\circ}C$ for steaming and a temperature less than $50^{\circ}C$ for drying.

  • We verified the charged static electricity on LCD glass influences upon the etching uniformity of dry etching process by plasma. In the TFT-LCD manufacturing process, we mainly paid attention to eliminate the static electricity for TFT reliability. The static electricity caused the serious ununiformity of etching surface profile and etching rate in the dry etch process. Through our experiment on the made static electricity from -200V to -1000V, it was confirmed that the static electricity on LCD glass caused the etching rate variation of $1.5%{\sim}15%$. We recommend the etching process equipment for LCD manufacturing have to establish the soft X-ray exposure module system for eliminating the static electricity inside the loading and unloading chamber.

  • In this paper, removal of diesel hydrocarbons (C$_{10}$-C$_{22}$) for dry and moist soil was investigated so that microwave-enhanced soil vapor extraction(SVE) reduced soil treatment time and raised remediation efficiency. Kinetic constants of diesel hydrocarbons with microwave energy were 7 times on dry soil and 1580 times on moist soil as much as those of SVE process without microwave energy. The diesel removals were 67.7~78.4% for $C_{10}$ and $C_{12}$, and 0~18.5% for $C_{14}$~C$_{22}$ for dry and moist soil with SVE process only. On the other hand, dry soil with microwave-enhanced SVE process showed 89.3~99.4% removal for $C_{10}$ and $C_{12}$ and 35.6~67.0% for hydrocarbons over $C_{14}$. All hydrocarbons(C$_{10}$~C$_{22}$) studied were significantly removed (93.6~99.8%) for moist soil with microwave-enhanced SVE process. Almost all diesel hydrocarbons were usually considered as semi-volatile compounds(SVOCs). Microwave-enhanced SVE process might have a great potential for remediation of soils contaminated with SVOCs.OCs.

  • A reproducible selective dry etch process of GaAs/AlGaAs Heterostructures for High Electron Mobility Transistor(HEMT) Device fabrication is developed. Using RIE mode with $CCl_{2}F_{2}$ as the basic process gas, the observed etch selectivity of GaAs layer with respect to GaAs/$Al_{0.3}Ga_{0.7}$As is about 610:1. Severe polymer deposition problem, parialy generated from the use of $CCl_{2}F_{2}$ gas only, has been significantly reduced by adding a small amount of He gas or by $O_{2}$ plasma ashing after etch process. In order to obtain an optimized etch process for HEMT device fabrication, we com pared the properties of the wet etched Schottky contact with those of the dry etched one, and set dry etch condition to approach the characteristics of Schottky diode on wet etched surface. By applying the optimized etch process, the fabricated HEMT devices have the maximum transconductance $g_{mext}$ of 224 mS/mm, and have relatively uniform distribution across the 2inch wafer in the value of 200$\pm$20mS/mm.

  • An alternative to the multilayered preforming is to use structures reinforced through-the-thickness in order to manufacture thicker and more complex pieces. Stitching technology is developed to bind dry reinforcements together or to strengthen composites in thickness performance by inserting structural yarns. Tufting process represents the simplest one-sided sewing technology and it is specifically designed for dry preform/liquid composite molding process route. Currently, the tufting technology is getting more and more interest due to its simplest and efficient process where it involves the insertion of binder threads via a single needle through the fabric. This technique of reinforcement through-the-thickness requires only one access to the preform which makes it suitable for three-dimensional structures and complex shaped textile composites. This paper aims to improve the understanding of the mechanical performance of tufted structures. An experimental study was developed, which included tensile and bending behaviours of tufted and un-tufted preforms, in order to evaluate the effect of tufting on the mechanical performance of dry preforms. The influence of the process parameters (tufting density, loop length, tufting yarns${\ldots}$) on the mechanical performance ofthe final structure is also highlighted.
