한발기에 있어서 용수관리 방법이 수도생육과 그 수량에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Research on the Effect of the Control Methods of Irrigation Water on the Growth and Yield of Paddy Rice.)

  • 본 시험은 한발시기를 이앙적기연한발구와 적기이앙직후한발구 그리고 유수형성기한발구별로 처리하고 한천일수를 10일, 20일, 30일간 단수했을 때의 벼 생육과 수량에 미치는 영향을 구명하였다. 가. 기상상항은 평년에 비해 일반적으로 성화에 비가 많았고 일조시간은 적었으며 온도는 비슷한 편으로 벼 작항에는 별차이가 없었다. 나. 관개수질은 중성으로 양호하였다. 다. 본 시험포의 토질은 비옥토가 양호한 편으로 일반 답토양과 비슷한 성질의 것이었다. 라. 분얼기의 생육상항은 하발 유형별로 보면 이앙적기지연한발구가 다른 처리구에 비해 초장은 가장 부량하였으나 분얼수는 가장 많았고 이앙직후한발구에서 분얼수가 가장 적었다. 한천일수별에 있어서는 일반적으로 한천일수가 길수록 초장 분얼수가 현저히 부량하였다. 마. 출수상항은 이앙지연한발구가 다른 처리구에 비해 $1{\sim}2$일정도 늦은 경향이었다. 하천일수별에 있어서는 일정한 경향이 없었다. 바. 성숙기의 생육 및 수량상항에서 한발시기별을 보면 이앙직후 한발구가 다른 처리구에 비해 양호하였고 유수형성기한발구가 가장 부량하였다. 한천일수별에 있어서는 한천일수가 길수록 생육 및 수량이 현저히 감소되었다.

기상학적 가뭄이 하천 BOD 수질에 미치는 영향의 확률론적 모니터링 (Probabilistic Monitoring of Effect of Meteorological Drought on Stream BOD Water Quality)

  • Drought is a natural disaster that can have serious social impacts. Drought's impact ranges from water supply for humans to ecosystems, but the impact of drought on river water quality requires careful investigation. In general, drought occurs meteorologically and is classified as agricultural drought, hydrological drought, and environmental drought. In this study, the BOD environmental drought is defined using the bivariate copula joint probability distribution model between the meteorological drought index and the river BOD, and based on this, the environmental drought condition index (EDCI-BOD) was proposed. The results of examining the proposed index using past precipitation and BOD observation data showed that EDCI-BOD expressed environmental drought well in terms of river BOD water quality. In addition, by classifying the calculated EDCI-BOD into four levels, namely, 'attention', 'caution', 'alert', and 'seriousness', a practical monitoring stage for environmental drought of BOD was constructed. We further estimated the sensitivity of the stream BOD to meteorological drought, and through this, we could identify the stream section in which the stream BOD responded relatively more sensitively to the occurrence of meteorological drought. The results of this study are expected to provide information necessary for river BOD management in the event of meteorological droughts.

3-D Dynamic groundwater-river interaction modeling incorporating climate variability and future water demand

  • The regional-scale transient groundwater-river interaction model is developed to gain a better understanding of the regional-scale relationships and interactions between groundwater and river system and quantify the residual river flow after groundwater abstraction from the aquifers with climate variability in the Waimea Plains, New Zealand. The effect of groundwater abstraction and climate variability on river flows is evaluated by calculating river flows at the downstream area for three different drought years (a 1 in 10 drought year, 1 in 20 drought year, and 1 in 24 drought year) and an average year with metered water abstraction data. The effect of future water demand (50 year projection) on river flows is also evaluated. A significant increase in the occurrence of zero flow, or very low flow of 100 L/sec at the downstream area is predicted due to large groundwater abstraction increase with climate variability. Modeling results shows the necessity of establishing dynamic cutback scenarios of water usage to users over the period of drought conditions considering different climate variability from current allocation limit to reduce the occurrence of low flow conditions at the downstream area.

지하수위 자료를 이용한 제주도 지하수계의 가뭄 영향 평가 (Evaluation of Drought Effect on Groundwater System using Groundwater Level Data in Jeju Island)

  • Quantitative assessment of groundwater level change under extreme event is important since groundwater system is directly affected by drought. Substantially, groundwater level fluctuation reveals to be delayed from several hours to few months after raining according to the aquifer characteristics. Groundwater system in Jeju Island would be also affected by drought and almost all regions were suffered from a severe drought during summer season (July to September) in 2013. To estimate the effect of precipitation to groundwater system, monthly mean groundwater levels in 2013 compared to those in the past from 48 monitoring wells belong to be largely affected by rainfall(Dr) over Jeju Island were analyzed. Mean groundwater levels during summer season recorded 100 mm lowered of precipitation compared to the past 30 years became decreased to range from 2.63 m to 5.42 m in southern region compared to the past and continued to December. These decreasing trends are also found in western(from -1.21 m to -4.06 m), eastern(-0.91 m to -3.24 m), and northern region(from 0.58 m to -4.02 m), respectively. Moreover, the response of groundwater level from drought turned out to be -3.80 m in August after delaying about one month. Therefore, severe drought in 2013 played an important role on groundwater system in Jeju Island and the effect of drought for groundwater level fluctuation was higher in southern region than other ones according to the regional difference of precipitation decrease.

Tail dependence of Bivariate Copulas for Drought Severity and Duration

  • Drought is a natural hazard with different properties that are usually dependent to each other. Therefore, a multivariate model is often used for drought frequency analysis. The Copula based bivariate drought severity and duration frequency analysis is applied in the current study in order to show the effect of tail behavior of drought severity and duration on the selection of a copula function for drought bivariate frequency analysis. Four copula functions, namely Clayton, Gumbel, Frank and Gaussian, were fitted to drought data of four stations in Iran and Canada in different climate regions. The drought data are calculated based on standardized precipitation index time series. The performance of different copula functions is evaluated by estimating drought bivariate return periods in two cases, [$D{\geq}d$ and $S{\geq}s$] and [$D{\geq}d$ or $S{\geq}s$]. The bivariate return period analysis indicates the behavior of the tail of the copula functions on the selection of the best bivariate model for drought analysis.

Evaluating the impacts of extreme agricultural droughts under climate change in Hung-up watershed, South Korea

  • Climate change indicators, mainly frequent drought which has happened since the drought of 1994, 1995, and 2012 causing the devastating effect to the agricultural sector, and could be more disruptive given the context of climate change indicators by increasing the temperature and more variable and extreme precipitation. Changes in frequency, duration, and severity of droughts will have enormous impacts on agriculture production and water management. Since both the possibility of drought manifestation and substantial yield losses, we are propositioning an integrated method for evaluating past and future agriculture drought hazards that depend on models' simulations in the Hung-up watershed. to discuss the question of how climate change might influence the impact of extreme agriculture drought by assessing the potential changes in temporal trends of agriculture drought. we will calculate the temporal trends of future drought through drought indices Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index, Standardized Precipitation Index, and Palmer drought severity index by using observed data of (1991-2020) from Wonju meteorological station and projected climate change scenarios (2021-2100) of the Representative Concentration Pathways models (RCPs). expected results confirmed the frequency of extreme agricultural drought in the future projected to increase under all studied RCPs. at present 100 years drought is anticipated to happen since the result showing under RCP2.6 will occur every 24 years, RCP4.5 every 17 years, and RCPs8.5 every 7 years, and it would be double in the largest warming scenarios. On another side, the result shows unsupportable water management, could cause devastating consequences in both food production and water supply in extreme events. Because significant increases in the drought magnitude and severity like to be initiate at different time scales for each drought indicator. Based on the expected result that the evaluating the impacts of extreme agricultural droughts and recession could be used for the development of proactive drought risk management, policies for future water balance, prioritize sustainable strengthening and mitigation strategies.

Alleviating Effect of Salicylic Acid Pre-treatment on Soil Moisture Stress of Waxy Corn

  • Soil moisture shortage can reduce yield of waxy corn because maize is one of the sensitive crops to the drought stress. Farmers cannot irrigate due to limited water resource and irrigating facilities although applying water is the most effective practice to solve the drought problem. The study was conducted to investigate the pre-treatment effect of salicylic acid on reducing drought damage of waxy corn (Zea mays L.). Salicylic acid at concentration of 0.2 mM was applied at seven-leaf stage or ten-leaf stage three times. Drought stress was imposed by withholding irrigation from 11 days before anthesis to 10 days after anthesis. Application of salicylic acid significantly increased ear length by 11.0~12.3% and yield by 8.8~11.3% compared with non-treated control, indicating that the drought injuries of waxy corn can be alleviated through pre-treatment of salicylic acid at the vegetative stage.

우리나라의 주요가뭄해석을 위한 각종 가뭄지수의 적용 (An Application of Various Drought Indices for Major Drought Analysis in Korea)

  • 가뭄을 미리 발견하고 감시하는 것은 어려우나, 가뭄지수를 이용하면 가뭄의 파악이 용이하다. PDSI는 통상적으로 가장 널리 이용되나 운영상 제한성을 가지고 있다. 최근 들어 가뭄을 인지하고 감시하는 능력이 향상된 SPI가 개발되었으며, 이는 기존의 지수들에 비해 모든 시간간격에 적용이 가능하고 간단하게 이용이 가능하다. KBDI는 상부토양층의 누적수분부족량을 산출함에 있어서 증발산과 강수량의 순영향을 나타내는 지수로 정의하였다. 본 연구에서는 PDSI, SPI, KBDI를 이용하여 산정된 가뭄지수의 상호비교 연구를 통하여 표준 가뭄지수를 제안하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 우리나라 8개 수계의 30년 이상의 기상자료를 보유한 기상청 강우관측소 자료를 이용하였다. 그 결과 PDSI는 누적되는 강우의 부족으로 가뭄심도를 나타내는 데 유리하고, SPI와 KBDI는 단기간 강우부족을 나타내는데 유리한 것으로 나타났다.

𝛽-glucan 토양혼합에 따른 고구마의 가뭄피해 저감 효과 (The Effect of Soil Amended with β-glucan under Drought Stress in Ipomoea batatas L.)

  • 𝛽-glucan은 바이오폴리머 (biopolymer)의 한 종류로 식품 및 의약품 산업에 이용되고 있으며, 최근 친환경신소재로서 제방강화에 이용되거나 토양에 배합하여 식생을 보호하는 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 바이오폴리머 중 𝛽-glucan의 토양혼합 유무와 가뭄처리에 따른 괴근작물 고구마 (Ipomoea batatas L., 품종명 소담미)의 표현형, 생장, 그리고 주요 단백질의 발현 및 활성 변화를 분석하였다. 가뭄 스트레스 하에서 𝛽-glucan 토양혼합에 따른 고구마의 엽장 및 엽폭의 생장, 그리고 전해질유출도에서 큰 차이가 나타나지 않았으나. 상대수분함량은 통계적으로 유의성을 보여주었다. 가뭄스트레스 내성에 관여된 주요 원형질막 (plasma membrane, PM) 단백질의 발현과 활성을 분석하였을 때, 1차 능동수송체 PM H+-ATPase은 𝛽-glucan 토양혼합 조건과 가뭄스트레스에 하에서 상대적으로 높은 발현과 활성을 유지하였으나, 수분수송단백질 아쿠아포린 plasma membrane intrinsic protein 2 (PIP2)은 𝛽-glucan 토양혼합 조건과 가뭄스트레스에 의해 원형질막에서의 분포가 감소하였다. 이 결과는 𝛽-glucan의 토양혼합이 가뭄스트레스 하에서 토양수분 보유력을 향상시켜 고구마의 가뭄 스트레스와 관련된 원형질막 단백질들이 내성에 유리하게 발현됨을 보여준다. 결론적으로 이 연구는 바이오폴리머를 활용한 토양생태를 조절하는 기술로써 가뭄에 따른 식생의 생장 및 피해를 판단하는데 유효할 것이라 판단된다.

가상가뭄 훈련의 국내외 사례 연구 (Domestic and Foreign Case Studies of Virtual Drought Exercise)

  • 최근 기후변화의 영향으로 가뭄 현상이 반복적으로 나타나고 있다. 정부에서는 가뭄 피해를 줄이기 위해 대응 방안을 마련하고, 가뭄 훈련을 실시하고 있다. 그러나 가뭄 훈련에 필요한 명확한 기준 및 관련 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 미국, 호주, 우리나라의 가뭄 관련 문헌 및 훈련사례를 분석하였다. 분석결과를 바탕으로 훈련사례가 많은 워크숍, 도상훈련, 기능훈련에 대한 훈련유형 선정시 고려사항을 제시하였으며, 가뭄 훈련을 위한 절차 및 단계별 고려사항을 제시하였다. 본 연구결과는 가상가뭄 훈련을 준비하는데 효과적으로 사용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
