  • The primary goal of this paper is to facilitate the rate-distortion control in compressed domain, without introducing a full decoding and re-encoding system in pixel domain. For this aim, the error propagation behavior over several frame-sequences due to DCT coefficients-drop is investigated on the basis of statistical and empirical properties. Then, such properties are used to develop a simple estimation model for the CD distortion accounting for the characteristics of the underlying coded-frame. Experimental results show that the proposed model allows us to effectively control rate-distortions into coded-frames over different kinds of video sequences.

  • In this paper, we present the wavelet neural network (WNN) controller as an active queue management(AQM) in end-to-end TCP network. AQM is important to regulate the queue length and short round trip time by passing or dropping the packets at the intermediate routers. As the role of AQM, the WNN controller adaptively controls the dropping probability of the TCP network and is trained by gradient-descent algorithm. We illustrate our result that WNN controller is superior to PI controller via simulations.

  • This paper proposes a medium access control protocol for integrated voice and data services in slotted CDMA systems. The proposed protocol, which is named as RCSSMA (Reservation Code and Status Sensing Multiple Access), adopts a code reservation and status sensing schemes. RCSSMA protocol gives higher access priority to the voice traffic than data traffic for reducing the packet dropping probability. The voice terminal reserves an available spreading code to transmit voice packets during a talkspurt, whereas the data terminal transmits a packet over one of the available spreading codes that are not reserved by the voice terminals. In this protocol, the voice packets never contend with the data packets. Packet dropping probability and average data packet transmission delay are analyzed using a Markov chain model.

  • In this study was modify the PRMA for supporting various types of traffic classes such as CBR, VBR, ABR and UBR. For uplink, we use reservation slots and so the performance will not degrade in case of over load conditions. For downlink broadcasting slots for informing the status of slot reservations are used so the high priority priority terminal can preempt. And we use almost same size buffer as the frame size. So we can dynamically deal with, the traffic changes of VBR terminals. It makes easy for the terminals to reserve supplementary slots. Each terminal is reallocated by the priority of traffic classes and so we can easily select the dropping packets in case of overload conditions. As a result, using our scheme, we can get high channel efficiency and get low packet dropping ratio and delay.

  • We propose priority-based reservation code multiple access (P-RCMA) which can enhance voice traffic quality of the previous RCMA. The proposed protocol maintains two power levels and consider traffic characteristics in contending shared available codes to transmit packets. P-RCMA gives priority to the voice request packets rather than data packets by capture effect at the receiver part of base station. We show numerical results from EPA (equilibrium point analysis) analysis and simulation study in terms of voice packet dropping probability and average data packet transmission delay.

  • Ag-coated Cu particles were prepared by dropping method of coating agent and were evaluated by scanning electron microscope and color difference meter. The shape of Cu particles having obvious crystal plan and edge was changed spherically according to the increase of Ag coating amount. When the Ag coating amount was 50 wt% to Cu particles, the whiteness of Ag-coated Cu particles was almost similar to that of pure Ag particles. Adding $NH_4$OH in reductant solution could increase effectively the whiteness of the Ag-coated particles. The Ag-coated particles having the highest whiteness was obtained when the content of hydrazine in reductant solution was 0.48 M.

  • We propose a wavelet neural network (WNN) control method for active queue management (AQM) in an end-to-end TCP network, which is trained by adaptive learning rates (ALRs). In the TCP network, AQM is important to regulate the queue length by passing or dropping the packets at the intermediate routers. RED, PI, and PID algorithms have been used for AQM. But these algorithms show weaknesses in the detection and control of congestion under dynamically changing network situations. In our method, the WNN controller using ALRs is designed to overcome these problems. It adaptively controls the dropping probability of the packets and is trained by gradient-descent algorithm. We apply Lyapunov theorem to verify the stability of the WNN controller using ALRs. Simulations are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Sufficient bandwidth that can support multimedia service has to be provided in the next generation wireless communication system. In this paper, the effective handoff scheme considering the position of mobile terminal is proposed. In addition, the dynamic channel allocation scheme is proposed. The shared channel in this algorithm can reduce more the blocking probability and the dropping probability. The proposed algorithms are simulated by SMPL library in C language. The simulation results show that the blocking probability and the dropping probability of the call can be reduced up to $60\%\;and\;10\%$ using the proposed algorithms, respectively.

특히, FD(Frame Dropping)/CD(Coefficient Dropping) 트랜스코딩기법은 계산량을 줄이고, 손쉽게 구현할 수 있다는 측면에서 주목을 받고 있다.
