The instantaneous temperature behaviors on impinging plate in case of ultra high pressure have been measured and analyzed by using the instantaneous temperature probe and ultra high pressure injection equipment. The temperature drop was largest at P1 which is center of impinging spray and decreased with propagation of spray to the radius direction. The temperature drop was bigger in case of higher temperature of impinging plate. The temperature drop decreased with increase of injection pressure. But decreasing rate of temperature drop was slight over 2,500 bars. Therefore, it was predicted that the fuel evaporation versus the increase of injection pressure was maximum at around 2,500 bars.
Even though the Al. form system, which was developed to replace the Euro-form, has been used as the slab lower formwork for almost all concrete structures based on the light weight and high conversion rate, the low-noise Drop method has been developed and used in order to overcome the limitations of the Al. Form system such as noise pollution and safety accidents caused by free fall during the demolding. However, as the low-noise drop method is still insufficient, Safety Full Drop Al. Form method is expected to be in the spotlight in the construction market based on its excellent advantages compared to the developed methods. In addition, we plan to conduct research to further contribute to securing the quality of the overall structure through continuous improvement and supplementation by introducing an automation system to the very construction method.
The drop formation dynamics of a shear thinning, elastic, yield stress ($\tau_o$) fluid (Carbopol 980 (poly(acrylic acid)) dispersions) in silicone oil has been investigated in a flow-focusing microfluidic channel. The rheological character of each solution investigated varied from Netwonian-like through to highly non-Newtonian and was varied by changing the degree of neutralization along the poly (acrylic acid) backbone. We have observed that the drop size of these non-Newtonian fluids (regardless of the degree of neutralisation) showed bimodal behaviour. At first we observed increases in drop size with increasing viscosity ratio (viscosity ratio=viscosity of dispersed phase (DP)/viscosity of continuous phase (CP)) at low flowrates of the continuous phases, and thereafter, decreasing drop sizes as the flow rate of the CP increases past a critical value. Only at the onset of pinching and during the high extensional deformation during pinch-off of a drop are any differences in the non-Newtonian characteristics of these fluids, that is extents of shear thinning, elasticity and yield stress ($\tau_o$), apparent. Changes in these break-off dynamics resulted in the observed differences in the number and size distribution of secondary drops during pinch-off for both fluid classes, Newtonian-like and non-Newtonian fluids. In the case of the Newtonian-like drops, a secondary drop was generated by the onset of necking and breakup at both ends of the filament, akin to end-pinching behavior. This pinch-off behavior was observed to be unaffected by changes in viscosity ratio, over the range explored. Meanwhile, in the case of the non-Newtonian solutions, discrete differences in behaviour were observed, believed to be attributable to each of the non-Newtonian properties of shear thinning, elasticity and yield stress. The presence of a yield stress ($\tau_o$), when coupled with slow flow rates or low viscosities of the CP, reduced the drop size compared to the Newtonian-like Carbopol dispersions of much lower viscosity. The presence of shear thinning resulted in a rapid necking event post onset, a decrease in primary droplet size and, in some cases, an increase in the rate of drop production. The presence of elasticity during the extensional flow imposed by the necking event allowed for the extended maintenance of the filament, as observed previously for dilute solutions of linear polymers during drop break-up.
This study result is obtained by flow analysis according to opening and shutting angle of ball valve. As opening and shutting angle becomes larger, vortex flow becomes smaller and flow rate becomes increased. And the pressure drop is shown to be smaller at the inlet and outlet of ball. As this angle becomes larger, mass flow rate becomes increased. Its rate becomes increased abruptly in case of opening and shutting angle at more than $60^{\circ}$.This analysis result can be applied usefully with no leak at pipe system field by the optimum control of mass flow rate according to opening and shutting of ball valve.
In this study, the microchannel plated heat exchanger were numerically studied for the enhancement of heat transfer in the channel configuration. Unit cold and hot fluid region with the microchannel were modeled and periodic boundary condition at the side wall was applied to continuously repeating geometry. The material of micro-structured plate is STS304 and working fluid is water. Triangular obstacles were placed in micro channel to enhance heat transfer. The performance of microchannel plated heat exchangers were numerically investigated with various obstacle configuration and Reynolds number under the parallel and counter flows. Heat transfer rate has increased about 18% compared with straight channel, but pressure drop also increased about 3.5 times. The main factor of increasing of pressure drop and heat transfer rate is considered that the momentum was lost to collide against obstacles, generation of secondary flow and boundary layer separation, wake and vortex forming phenomena.
Random Early Detection (RED), one of the most well-known Active Queue Management (AQM), has been designed to substitute Tail Drop and is nowadays widely implemented in commercially available routers. RED algorithm provides high throughput and low delay as well as a solution of global synchronization. However RED is sensitive to parameters setting, so the performance of RED, significantly depends on the fixed parameters. To solve this problem, the Adaptive RED (ARED) algorithm is suggested by S. Floyd. But, ARED also uses fixed parameters like target-queue length; it is hard to respond to bursty traffic actively. In this paper, we proposed AQM algorithm based on the variation of current queue length in order to improve adaptability about burst traffic. We measured performance of proposed algorithm through a throughput, marking-drop rate and bias phenomenon. In experimentation, we raised a packet throughput as reduced packet drop rate, and we confirmed to reduce a bias phenomenon about bursty traffic.
An experimental study on the performance evaluation of a brazed plate heat-exchanger with 10RT of normal cooling capacity has been carried out. In the present study, a brazed type plate heat exchanger was tested at a chevron angle $25^{\circ}$ with refrigerant R-22. Mass flux was ranged from $23\;to\;58kg/m^{2}s$ in condensation, and from $22\;to\;53kg/m^{2}s$ in evaporation. The heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop increased with the mass flux increases. The water side pressure drop increased with the cooling water flow rate and chilled water flow rate increases, while mass flux has little affect. It is also shown that the system performance can be improved by enlarging condensation heat transfer area.
Dynamic characteristics of the short circuit mode are investigated using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method. When the initial molten drop volume, contact area and wire feed rate are given, rate change of the molten bridge profiles, pressure and velocity distributions are predicted. The electromagnetic force with proper boundary conditions are included in the formulation to consider the effects of welding current. It is found that the molten metal is transferred to the weld pool mainly due to the pressure difference caused by the curvatures in the initial stage, and electromagnetic force becomes dominant factor in the final stage of short circuit transfer. Necking occurs at the contact position between the molten drop and weld pool, and the initial molten drop volume and welding current have significant effects on break-up time.
Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) application study on enhancing the flexibility of AC power system has continued to make progress. A thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC) is a useful FACTS device that can control the power flow by adjusting line impedances and minimize the loss of power flow and voltage drop in a transmission system by adjusting line impedances. Reduced power flow loss leads to increased loadability, low system loss, and improved stability of the power system. This study proposes the optimal location and compensation rate method for TCSCs, by considering both the power system loss and voltage drop of transmission systems. The proposed method applies a multi-objective function consisting of a minimizing function for power flow loss and voltage drop. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated using IEEE 14- and a 30-bus system.
Electro-rheological(ER) fluids are suspensions which show an abrupt increase in rheological properties under electric fields. The rheological response is very rapid and reversible when the electric field is imposed and/or removed. Therefore, there are many practical applications using the ER fluids. The purpose of the present study is to examine the flow characteristics of electro-rheological fluids. The field-dependent yield stress are obtained from experimental investigation on the Bingham property of the ER fluid. Then the steady relationshup between pressure drop and flow rate of the ERF was two fixed parallel-plates was measured under application of an electric fields. The electrical and rheological properties of zeolite based electro-rheological fluids were reported.
