Closed-Loop Timing Controller Design for Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) Control System in Pressurized Water Reactor

  • The method that the operating condition of Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) can be monitored without mounting sensors within CRDM housing was developed, and by using this developed method the closed-loop controller for the CRDM was designed which can optimize the performance and maximize the reliability of CRDM operation. Neural network is utilized as pattern recognition engine in detecting CRDM actuation. In this paper, most problems in previous open loop system are resolved. The control algorithms for closed-loop system ore developed and implemented within the hardware of timing controller based on microprocessor. All functions in the timing controller ore verified by means of real time CRDM simulator. The results show that the timing controller performs its intended functions properly.

  • This paper deals with the vector control that control of torque and speed of the induction motor using field-oriented control method. Rotor flux is estimated using the indirect sensing method based on the rotor circuit equation in the synchronously rotation reference frame, and slip angle and rotor position are caculated from rotor angular velocity and stator current. Through modeling and digital simulation with a voltage source inverter, it is shown that the proposed scheme gives good static and dynamic performance to the induction motor drive.

  • Fuzzy logic control(FLC) has been studied extensively and has been applied in various applications. The most popular control strategy takes the Fuzzy Proportional-Integral(FPI) form while systematic methods have been developed to derive the fuzzy rules and membership functions the choice of the scaling factors remains an open problem, In this paper an analytical FPI scaling factor determining method is derived based on the functional equivalence of the PI and FPI controllers. Simulation have been carried out with a brushless DC motor drive system as test-bed the obtained results drive system as test-bed the obtained results have verified that the derived method is applicable to both the initial choice and further tuning of the FPI scaling factors.

  • This paper presents the development of a system with a reverse matrix converter (RMC) for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive and its effective control method. The voltage transfer ratio of the general matrix converter is restricted to a maximum value of 0.866, which is not suitable for applications whose source voltages are lower than the load voltages. The proposed RMC topology can step up the voltage without any additional components in the conventional circuit. Its control method is different from traditional matrix converter’s one, thus this paper proposes control schemes of RMC by means of controlling both the generator and motor side currents with properly designed control loop. The converter can have sinusoidal input/output current waveforms in steady state condition as well as a boosted voltage.   • High frequency common mode voltage produced by power inverters are a major cause of conducted EMI, creating motor ground currents, bearing currents and other harmful by products. This paper focuses on a new SVPWM method with random PWM injection to reduce conducted EMI noise. A New PWM technique associated with the common mode voltage can be significantly reducing and contributes to mitigate. The common mode voltage to $50\%$ in comparison with that for conventional SVPWM technique. Validation of the theory and reduction methods are then performed experiment ally based on an induction motor drive.

  • Switched reluctance machine has much attention because of high efficiency, high power and DC series torque characteristics with a traction drive. But the motor has to have a regenerative mode when it is adopted in an electric vehicle. A current divergence during the regeneration makes difficulties in the control of SRM. This paper proposes a reference current limitation strategy for a stable regeneration based on simulations and experimental tests. The motor is operated with conventional current limit and switching angle control method in motoring mode. Simulations and experiments are executed to verify proposed method.

  • 브러시리스 직류 전동기는 역기전압이 사다리꼴로서 구형파 상전류를 순차적으로 인가해야 한다. 센서리스 드라이브와 같이 전류 제어 기능 없이 전압원 인버터로 브러시리스 직류 전동기를 구동하는 경우 상전류가 전환되면서 토크 리플이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 전환에 의한 토크 리플에 관하여 분석하고, 이의 저감 대책을 제안하며, 센서리스 드라이브에 적용하여 토크 리플에 의한 진동과 소음을 개선함으로서 그 효과를 입증한다.

  • In this paper, we proposed a novel control method which uses the internal impedance angles as a control parameter to drive traveling wave type ultrasonic motor. An impedance characteristic of the ultrasonic motor is obtained by analysis of the equivalent circuits including the external inductor used to generate the coupled resonance. The phase angle of internal impedance to achieve optimal control performance is derived. For the tracking of impedance angle, an information of phase difference is obtained from the applied voltage and current. The high speed phase difference detector is designed to monitor the phases of ultrasonic motor. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is clarified by experiments.

  • This paper proposes a new track-following control method using disturbance observer with the freedom of gain and frequency adaptation in optical disk drive system. Recent ODDs use smaller track pits, higher rotation speed and broader rotational speed variations to increase the data capacity and data transfer rate. This cause the degradation of track-following performance by increasing the disturbance of the rotary system. In this paper, we discussed on a DOB structure that efficiently attenuate the disturbance without effecting the overall feedback loop characteristics on CLV type ODD which uses a higher and broader range of rotational speed. DOB structure uses two band pass filter. We analyzed the track-following performance sensitivity on rotational frequency variance and gain changes. This analysis is done on a computer simulation environment and actual ODD product.

  • In this paper, an improved direct torque control (DTC) method for sensorless matrix converter drives is proposed which enables to minimize torque ripple, to obtain unity input power factor, and to achieve good sensorless speed-control performance in the low speed operation, while maintaining constant switching frequency and fast torque dynamics. It is possible to combine the advantages of matrix converters with the advantages of the DTC strategy using space vector modulation and a flux deadbeat controller. To overcome the phase current distortion by the non-linearity of a matrix converter drive, the simple non-linearity compensation method using PQR power theory are presented in the proposed scheme. Experimental results are shown to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed strategy.
