  • This paper describes an adjustable switching angle control method of Switched Reluctance Motor to improve the drive efficiency when variable loads applied. The control method to build-up optimal current shape is intended to improve the efficiency of SRM over the wide range of output power without requiring additional power devices, which gives more economic benefits compared with any other control methods.

전구 자동화 생산기계용 바렐 캠의 형상설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Design of Barrel Cam for Automatic Bulb Production Machine)

  • A barrel cam is used as a very important part of an index drive unit. The index drive unit must have an intermittent-rotational motion. The barrel typed cam and roller gear mechanism has the advantages of high reliability to perform a prescribed motion of a follower. This paper proposes a new method for the shape design of the barrel cam and also a CAD program is developed by using the proposed method. As defined in this paper, the relative velocity method for the shape design calculates the relative velocity of the follower versus cam at a center of roller, and then detemines a contact point by using the geometric relationships and the kinematic constraints, where the direction of the relative velocity must be parallel to a common tangential line at the contact point of two independent bodies, i.e. the cam and the follower. Then, the shape of the cam is defined by the coordinate transformation of the trace of the contact points. This paper presents shape design of the barrel cam in order to prove the accuracy of the proposed methods

  • This paper proposes a robust control design method for improving the cornering stability of a personal electric vehicle equipped with in-wheel motors. In general, vehicles undergo severe parameter variations and unpredictable disturbances with respect to a wide range of driving conditions (e.g., road surface conditions and vehicle velocity conditions). For this reason, robust control design techniques are required to guarantee consistent driving performances and robustness against various driving conditions. In this paper, an adaptive sliding mode control method is employed to enhance cornering stability by controlling the direct-drive in-wheel motors independently. Additionally, in order to confirm the effectiveness of a proposed control method, real driving tests with an experimental personal electric vehicle are performed.

  • An induction machine can be operated in the constant power region over an extended high speed range by means of field weakening. A conventional field weakening method is to set the flux reference inversely proportional to the rotor speed. With this method, however, the machines can't yield the maximum torque over the entire high speed range. In this paper, a new field weakening method for the field oriented induction machine drive by the voltage control strategy is presented. The proposed scheme ensures not only producting the maximum torque over the entire field weakening region but also the robust control independent on machine parameters. Also the smooth transition into the field weakening operation and fast dynamic response during transient operation can be obtained. Simulation and experimental results from a 3hp laboratory induction motor drive system are done to confirm the proposed control algorithm.

  • High speed drive method for a fuel injector cleaner with current control is presented in this paper. The fuel injector cleaner is used for cleaning the fuel injectors in vehicles when it is clogged with deposit and rust. The fuel injector cleaner cleans the fuel injector by turning on and off the fuel injector rapidly. When the fuel injectors are cleaned, the switching speed is very important. However, when the fuel injector is turned off, the residual current in the fuel injector coil slows down the return action of the plunger in the fuel injector deteriorating performance and speed of the fuel injector cleaner. In this paper, fast turn off operation method of fuel injectors is developed for more effective cleaning. The simulation and experiment results show the validity of the proposed method.

  • This paper compared with field weakening operation methods for the spindle motor of machine tool in which high speed drive is required. The maximum torque field weakening algorithm ensures the full utilization of the output torque capability of the machine over 1/Wr method. From simulation, the validity of the Max_Te method is confirmed. It is verified that the Max-Te algorithm provided the improved torque capability over 1/Wr method. So, It is applicable to provide high performance control involving fast acceleration and precise speed control for the adjustable speed drive system of spindle.

  • This paper deals with an automatic tuning method of the notch filter to suppress oscillations in a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) drive. First, it saves automatically the reference torque-component current when oscillations are detected. Then the oscillation frequency of the saved data is calculated by using the fast Fourier transform(FFT) algorithm. And also the Hanning function is used to reduce the leakage components due to the aperiodic measurement data. Finally, the proposed method tunes the notch filter to suppress oscillations. Experimental results on the test rig show the validity of the proposed method.

  • A method of establishing the tooth modification for gear transmission of vehicles to reduce gear whine noise, caused by tooth impact phenomenon of mating gear, is introduced. The major causes of tooth impact are due to the deflections of gear teeth and shafts of transmission with the loaded condition including various kinds of manufacturing errors. The theoretical shape of tooth surface to avoid tooth impact is derived by the amount of elastic deformation of gear teeth and shaft and overall manufacturing error of machine tool. The surface function is converted with respect to the conventional commercial data usually communicated to the gear inspection system. The proposed method is applied to the gearbox of four wheel drive vehicle and shows the gear whine noise decreased to the 8 dB in the sound level.

  • This paper is derived a solutions for an analytical model of an induction motor and the formula of regenerative power, based on spiral vector. The torque is controlled linearity through variations of the slip angular velocity, based on the field acceleration method (FAM). And also PWM inverter fed induction motor drives is schemed to be easily a regenerative power. The experimental tests verify the performance of the FAM, proving that good behavior of the drive is achieved in the transient and steady state operating condition. and are discussed to shave the power that regenerative power is measured at the operating acceleration or deceleration of servo system.

  • This paper proposes a detection method for mechanically stuck control rod drive mechanism (CRDM) faults. During the normal operation of a CRDM, disturbance voltage is induced due to the change of the airgap flux between the stator and the armature of a CRDM. This disturbance voltage is estimated by using $H_\infty$ filtering method, and generalized plant is used in linear fractional transform (LFT) framework. $H_\infty$ filtering is described and solved in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Simulation results are shown.
