  • As the number of offshore structure is glowing in deep waters, there have been increased damages of it. These floating structures in offshore locations exposed to harsh environmental conditions. In recent years, there has been a slowing attention around damages on bow and deck on FPSO caused by waves in steep storm condition. This paper describes a study of the water on deck due to the dynamic behavior of a FPSO with turret mooring system. The nonlinear motions of the FPSO are simulated under external forces due to wave, current, wind, and mooring forces in the time domain. The direct integration method is employed to estimate low frequency drift wave forces. The current forces are calculated by using slow motion maneuvering equations in the horizontal plane. The coefficients of a model for wind forces are calculated from Isherwood's experimental data and the variation of wind speed is estimated by wind spectrum according to the guidelines of API-RP2A.

  • We propose a simple technique to stabilize the optical output intensity of a fiber ring resonator. The electronic feedback circuit system, which consists of two voltage control oscillators, a phase comparator, and a low pass filter, is applied to the fiber ring resonator in order to compensate the optical phase shift in the ring loop. The reference electrical signal determines the operating condition of the fiber ring resonator for the desired optical output signal. The experimental results within the operating range agree well with the analytical results. The simulated performance of the proposed model is also compared with that of other existing models and shows significant improvement over them.

  • The wavelengt lockin gsystem of the optical fabry-perot filter theoretially derived and experimentally realized by using the ithering method in order to compensate the laser wavelength drift increasing the BER of the WDM system. The deviation between the laser wavelength and the optical filter center wavelength is compensated by applying a suitable voltage to the PZT. Accordingly, the laser wavelength selected by the fabry-perot filter always maintains the condition of maximum transmission powr. A wavelength locking system has been demonstrated using a fiber fabry-perot filter with a free spectral range of 80nm and an FWH of 1nm. The voltages of the sine wave generated for dithering was 20mV and 10mV, the frequency was 2kHz and center wavelength of the tunable laser was 1550nm. In this paper, the locking system have 20ms of locking time and 2nm of locking range.

  • From the development of residential flat plate system, continuously bended shear reinforcements were applied in the joint performance test. The testing parameters are shear reinforcement types, which are no reinforcement, studrail reinforcement, and rebar type reinforcement. To verify the lateral resisting capacity, cyclic load is applied in the constant vertical load condition. From the test results, the resisting capacity of developed shear reinforcement system has a good performance behavior in the story drift ratio.

  • In this paper, describes a rotor speed identification method of induction motor based on the theory of counter EMF MRAS. This method eliminated the pure integrator and we can be expected to rapid responsibility of the speed identification. Therefore, we may improve the initial condition of the integrator and drift problem. The stability of speed estimator is proved on the basis of hyperstability theory. In order to confirm the performance of the proposed system, simulation and experiment is performed.

  • A two-level displacement-based design procedure is developed. To obtain the displacement demands, elastic spectra for occasional earthquakes and inelastic spectra for rare earthquakes are used. Minimum global stiffness and strength to be supplied to the structure are based on specified maximum permissible drift limits and on the condition that the structure responds within the elastic range for occasional earthquakes. The performance of the structure may be assessed by an inelastic push-over analysis to the required displacement and the evaluation of damage indices. The approach is applied to the design of a five-story reinforced concrete coupled wall structure located in the most hazardous seismic region of Argentina. The inelastic dynamic response of the structure subjected to real and artificially generated acceleration time histories is also analyzed. Finally, advantages and limitations of the proposed procedure from the conceptual point of view and practical application are discussed.

  • To detect islanding mode when the grid is being tripped is a major safety issue in the Utility Interactive Distributed Generation (UIDG) system. In this paper, analytical design method is suggested for AFD & RPV method under IEEE929-2000 recommended islanding test condition. We have discussed that there is a same point. we injected reactive component of the current by AFD & RPV methods, but the current reference generated is other waveform. Possible if amount of reactive components in this methods are same each method, there is happened same rates frequency variation. To verify the validity of the analytical comparison, this paper presents simulation and experimental results from single phase, 3[kW] inverter for the transformerless UIDG system.

  • A local-analytic-based Navier-Stokes solver has been employed in conjunction with a compound ocean structure motion analysis program for time-domain simulation of passing ship effects induced by multiple post-Panamax class ships in the exact condition of a real waterway. The exact seabed bathymetry was reproduced to the utmost precision attainable using the NOAA geophysical database for Virginia Beach, NOAA nautical charts for Hampton Roads and Norfolk harbor, and echo sounding data for the navigation channel and waterfront facilities. A parametric study consists of 112 simulation cases with various combinations of ship lanes, ship speeds, ship heading (inbound or outbound), channel depths, drift angles, and passing ship coupling (in head-on or overtaking encounters) were carried out for two waterfront facilities at NAVSTA Norfolk and Craney Island Fuel Terminal. The present paper provides detailed parametric study results at both locations to investigate the site-specific passing ship effects on the motion responses of ships moored at nearby piers.
