We found dramatic changes of the properties of LCs by dispersing ferroelectric nanoparticles. Specifically, ferroparticles greatly increase the nematic-isotropic transition temperature, birefringence and dielectric anisotropy of the LC. Ferroelectric nanoparticles/LCs colloids offer a simple and effective means to precisely control the physical properties of LC materials and optimize them for display applications.

In late of the 1980's, dramatic increase in water use caused over-exploitation of groundwater and deterioration of water quality in urban areas. To monitor quantity of groundwater resources and their qualities, local groundwater monitoring networks were established. Groundwater resources in urban areas are affected by various human activities including underground building construction (subway), pumping for water use, and pavements. Detailed analysis of the monitored groundwater data would provide some good implications for optimal and efficient management for groundwater resources in the urban area.

This study investigated differences in play types of preschool children with disabilities both in mainstreamed and segregated classrooms. The play behaviors of 50 preschool children with disabilities were observed and videotaped during free play time. Differences were found in children's dramatic and group play. Conclusions were that mainstreamed preschool program emphasizing a play-based curriculum could be an effective model for children with disabilities by providing for a variety of play types. Implications for mainstreaming education and for teacher education were discussed.

CFD simulation was peformed for 2D and 3D flying and rotating frisbees. Multiple reference method(MRF) was utilized to consider the rotation of 3D model. Geometry change of 2D model shows dramatic increase of lift, but 3D simulation results for geometry change show decrease of lift and drag. Ground effect increases the lift of the frisbee being close to ground.

The effects of rearing temperature on the sex determination of zebrafish were examined to address the questions, "Is it possible to control phenotypic sex artificially; and what genes may be involved in that process\ulcorner". At higher temperature(${32-34}^{\circ}C vs 28.5^{\circ}$C), a dramatic shift of the sex ratio(female 1 : male 9) was found. with DD-PCR cloning, several candidate genes were cloned and analyzed. Further analysis should help to understand sex-determining mechanisms involved in the artificial induction.induction.

This article introduces fundamentals of self-diagnosis and predictive (or preventive) maintenance technologies for dry vacuum pumps. The state variables of dry pumps are addressed, such as the pump and motor body temperatures, consumption currents of main and booster pumps, mechanical vibration, and exhaust pressure, etc. The adaptive parametric models of the state variables of the dry pump are exploited to provide dramatic reduction of data size and computation time for self-diagnosis. Two indicators, the Hotelling's $T^2$ and the sum of squares residuals (Q), are illustrated to be quite effective and successful in diagnosing dry pumps used in the semiconductor processes.

A mutant tryptophan synthase $\alpha$-subunit, where Pro28 was replaced with Leu, tends to be expressed in recombinant E. coli. CD and fluorescence spectra of this protein indicate some changes in secondary and tertiary structure. Wild type protein was more or less affected by {TEX}$Ca^{2+}${/TEX} ion in regards of the fluorescent properties of its native, unfolded and intermediate forms, but the mutant protein was not at all. The dramatic structural changes may be related to the aggregation of this mutant protein.

Developmental aspects of chicken embryos showed dramatic difference compared with those of mammals and consequently, such difference in various developmental events leads to different feasibility in both clinical and industrial application. We have concentrated on the studies for using of chicken bone marrow cells and currently we found number of unique cellular properties. Through this article, we reviewed characteristics and cell signaling of osteogenic cells during endochondral ossification in chicken long bone.

A basic assessment is presented of the technical, economic and strategic challenges expected for manufacturing displays in a roll-to-roll format. Two general pathways are considered; one that results in dramatic cost reductions but results in sacrificing product performance, and another which is an extension of the conventional FPD cost-reduction from increased substrate size. While Roll-to-Roll fabrication is fundamentally possible, feasibility experiments will be required to address the most significant technical challenge: achieving and managing acceptable yield. In all respects, the efforts to achieve RTR manufacturing will be assisted by overlapping interests in other application areas such as flex circuit, photovoltaics and large area lighting.

Cervical subcutaneous emphysema usually occurs as a result of surgery or trauma. However, when it occurs spontaneously, the patient may Present with clinically impressive and dramatic features. Spontaneous subcutaneous cervical emphysema is very rare. A 20-month-old boy diagnosed bronchial asthma had been admitted and all symptoms has improved On 5th hospital admission day, sudden subcutaneous crepitation of cervical, chest and axillary area had developed, and roentgenograms of chest and neck revealed subcutaneous cervical emphysema. He was treated needle aspiration. and recovered rapidly.
