  • This paper presents a new algorithm for the countermeasure to alleviate the line overloads due to contingency without shedding loads in a power system. This method for relieving the line overloads by line switching is based on obtaining the kine outage distribution factors-the linear sensitivity factors, which give the amount of change in the power flow of each line due to the removal of a line in a power system. There factors are made up of the elements of sparse bus reactance matrix and brach reactances. In this paper a fast algorithm and program is presented for obtaining only the required bus reactance elements which corresponds to a non-zero elements of bus admittance matrix, and elements of columns which correspond to two terminal buses of the overloaded(monitored) line. The proposed algorithm has been validated in tests on a 6-bus and the 30-bus test system.

  • The Buyeo-Cheongyang area, in the south-western area of Gyeonggi massif, comprises Precambrian and Mesozoic metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. The original rock of metamorphic rocks was studied by geochemical examination and statistical analyses of the trace elements in the gneisses, schists, shale and granitic rocks. Average abundance of Cu,Cr,Pb,Ni,Co,Mn,Li and Zn elements from gneisses have similar to those from shale and schists. However the gneisses have higher Cr,Ni,Co,Mn,Li abundance than those from the granite. Abundance range and frequency distribution of the trace elements in the gneiss show a marked trend sedimentary origin, that is, standard deviation have far the higer than that of igneous origin. Also it is wide dispersion and irregularly distribution. For that reason, this gneiss is regard as sedimentary original rocks with schists.

  • Main aims of this study are to clarify petrochemistry of the granitic gneiss in the Durye-Suncheon area. The origin of the metamorphic rock is evaluated from the abundance of $Na_2O$, the $TiO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ratios, the Harker variation diagram and $Al_2O_3$($Na_2O$ +$K_2O$ + CaO) ratios of the major elements. and the frequency distribution and average abundance of the trace elements . The trace elements of the granitic gneiss in the studied area are compared with those of the granitic rocks with shales in the other areas. The abundance of $Na_2O$ is lower than 3.27% and the $TiO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ ratio is 0.04. Also the Harker's variation diagram indicate this granitic gneiss correspond to sedimentary origin or S-type granite. The average abundance for trace elements of the granitic gneiss is similar to that of the shale, and the frequency distribution shows extensive distribution and irregularly . But xenolith are observed in the field survey, it is evidence of igneous origin , and then origin of the granitic gneiss in studied area is S-type granite.

  • Metallic elements in dustfall have been known as notable air pollutants directly or indirectly influencing human health and wealth. The first aim of this study was to obtain precise spatial distribution patterns of 5 elements (Pb, Zn, K, Cr, and Al) in dustfall around Suwon area. To predict isometric lines of metal fluxes deposited on unsupervised random sites, the study has applied both spatial statistics as a receptor model and a GIS (geographic information system). Total of 31 sampling sites were selected in the study area (roughly 3 by 3 km grid basis) and dustfall samples were then collected monthly basis by the British deposit gauges from Dec., 1995 to Nov., 1996. The metallic elements in the dustfall were then analyzed by an atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS). On the other hand, a base map overlapped by 7 layers was constructed by using the AutoCAD R13 and ARC/INFO 3.4D. Four different spatial interpolation and expolation techniques such as IDW (inverse distance weighted averaging), TIN (triangulated irregular network), polynomial regression, and kriging technique were examined to compare spatial distribution patterns. Each pattern obtained by each technique was substantally different as varing pollutant types, land of use types, and topological conditions, etc. Thus, our study focused intensively on uncertainty analysis based on a concept of the jackknife and the sum of error distance. It was found that a kriging technique was the best applicalbe in this study area.

  • When a large ship is advancing in waves, ship undergoes the hydroelastic response, which has influences on structural stability and the fatigue destruction etc. of the ship. Therefore, to predict accurate hydroelastic response, it is necessary to analyze hydroelastic response including fluid-structure interaction. In this research, a ship is divided into many hull elements to calculate the fluid forces and wave exciting forces on each elements using three-dimensional source distribution method. The calculated fluid forces and wave exciting forces are assigned to nodes of hull elements. The neighbor nodes are connected with elastic beam elements. We analyzed hydroelastic responses, and those are formulated by using finite element method. Particularly, to estimate the influence of forward speed on the hydroelastic responses, we use two different methods : Full Hull Rotation Method(FHRM) and Sectional Hull Rotation Method(SHRM).

  • An obvious of ESACF approach for model identification by Tsay and Tiao(1984) is that the user may be confused by the elements which are in triangular but marginally larger two standard deviation values. To avoid this drawback, the joint limiting distribution of the vector whose elements are in triangular of ESACF arrays is verified and the statistics to test the nulity of the vector suggested. We illustrate this approach with three examples.

  • Mount Tai, with an elevation of 1,532 meters, has a reputation as ''The Most Revered of the Five Sacred Mountains (五嶽獨尊)", despite not being the highest mountain in China. A guidebook is a book or pamphlet that contains an introduction and description of specific activities or facilities, especially detailed and accurate information about scenic spots, which provide superior vistas to than other commercially publicized locations. The study aims to investigate Mount Tai's landscape characteristics by analyzing the landscape types and elements, the Kernel Density, the Mean Center and the Standard Deviational Ellipse of the landscape elements appearing in guidebooks introducing Mount Tai. The research results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the landscape type characteristics of Mount Tai are dominated by natural landscapes, which are different from what was shown highlighted in poems and Big Data as they proposed that the landscape characteristics of Mount Tai is dominated by human activities. Second, from the perspective of subdivided landscape types, the landscape elements that appeared in Mount Tai are topography, structure, architecture, plants, semantics, human beings and image orderly, based on the proportion of landscape elements. Third, from the perspective of landscape elements by times series, "Fengshan (封禅)", "sacrifices (祭祀)" and "legends" mostly appeared in the 1950s and 1980s, and after the 1990s, "climbing" and "overlooking" mostly appeared. Fourth, the landscape elements of Mount Tai are concentrated in Daiding (岱顶) and Dai Temple (岱庙) in all periods in terms of spatial distribution. This will become an important space for Mount Tai scenic spots in the future. Moreover, as a whole, the landscape elements of Mount Tai have changed from the concentrated distribution form in Mount Tai scenic spot to the scattered distribution form including Mount Tai and Tai'an City. This will provide necessary enlightenment for the landscape preservation and the re-production of guidebooks of Mount Tai scenic spot in the future.

  • One of the most important issues in structural systems is evaluation of the margin of safety in low and mid-rise buildings against the progressive collapse mechanism due to the earthquake loads. In this paper, modeling of collapse propagation in structural elements of RC frame buildings is evaluated by tracing down the collapse points in beam and column structural elements, one after another, under earthquake loads and the influence of column removal is investigated on how the collapse expansion in beam and column structural members. For this reason, progressive collapse phenomenon is studied in 3-story and 5-story intermediate moment resisting frame buildings due to the corner and edge column removal in presence of the earthquake loads. In this way, distribution and propagation of the collapse in progressive collapse mechanism is studied, from the first element of the structure to the collapse of a large part of the building with investigating and comparing the results of nonlinear time history analyses (NLTHA) in presence of two-component accelograms proposed by FEMA_P695. Evaluation of the results, including the statistical survey of the number and sequence of the collapsed points in process of the collapse distribution in structural system, show that the progressive collapse distribution are special and similar in low-rise and mid-rise RC buildings due to the simultaneous effects of the column removal and the earthquake loads and various patterns of the progressive collapse distribution are proposed and presented to predict the collapse propagation in structural elements of similar buildings. So, the results of collapse distribution patterns and comparing the values of collapse can be utilized to provide practical methods in codes and guidelines to enhance the structural resistance against the progressive collapse mechanism and eventually, the value of damage can be controlled and minimized in similar buildings.
