A systematic study of Glechoma L. (Lamiaceae) based on micromorphological characters and nuclear ribosomal ITS sequences (미세구조학적 형질 및 핵 리보솜 DNA의 ITS 염기서열에 의한 긴병꽃풀속(꿀풀과)의 계통분류학적 연구)

  • The petal and sepal micromorphology of five species of Glechoma (Lamiaceae) was investigated to evaluate their taxonomic significance, and a molecular phylogeny using the sequences of internal transcribed spacers (ITS) regions of nuclear ribosomal DNA was carried out to resolve their phylogenetic relationships. Stomatal complexes were mostly found in the inner and outer part of the sepal from all investigated taxa, and the size length of the guard cell was variable among the taxa. Five types of trichomes (uni-cellular non-glandular trichome, multi-cellular non-glandular trichome, short-stalked capitate glandular trichome, long-stalked capitate glandular trichome, and peltate glandular trichome) were variable among the taxa as well as their distribution and density. In molecular phylogenetic studies, the genus Glechoma was composed of three geographically distinct major monophyletic groups (Europe-U.S.A., China-Korea, Japan). G. longituba in Korea and China formed well-supported monophyletic group. G. hederacea in Europe and U.S.A. formed a monophyletic and well-supported clade with G. sardoa, which are endemic species in Italy, with G. hirsuta falling as a sister to this clade. However, G. grandis did not form any phylogenetic relationships with the remaining taxa. The ITS analyses provided taxonomic boundaries of taxa in Glechoma although the petal and sepal micromorphological characters provided weak evidences of the systematic value. As further studies, incorporating more DNA regions to the matrix including other additional morphological analysis will be significant to provide clearer taxonomic structure in Glechoma.

  • We have developed an inversion algorithm for loop-loop electromagnetic (EM) data, based on the localised non-linear or extended Born approximation to the solution of the 2.5D integral equation describing an EM scattering problem. Source and receiver configuration may be horizontal co-planar (HCP) or vertical co-planar (VCP). Both multi-frequency and multi-separation data can be incorporated. Our inversion code runs on a PC platform without heavy computational load. For the sake of stable and high-resolution performance of the inversion, we implemented an algorithm determining an optimum spatially varying Lagrangian multiplier as a function of sensitivity distribution, through parameter resolution matrix and Backus-Gilbert spread function analysis. Considering that the different source-receiver orientation characteristics cause inconsistent sensitivities to the resistivity structure in simultaneous inversion of HCP and VCP data, which affects the stability and resolution of the inversion result, we adapted a weighting scheme based on the variances of misfits between the measured and calculated datasets. The accuracy of the modelling code that we have developed has been proven over the frequency, conductivity, and geometric ranges typically used in a loop-loop EM system through comparison with 2.5D finite-element modelling results. We first applied the inversion to synthetic data, from a model with resistive as well as conductive inhomogeneities embedded in a homogeneous half-space, to validate its performance. Applying the inversion to field data and comparing the result with that of dc resistivity data, we conclude that the newly developed algorithm provides a reasonable image of the subsurface.

SHRIMP U-Pb Ages of Detrital Zircons from Metasedimentary Rocks in the Yeongheung-Seonjae-Daebu Islands, Northwestern Gyeonggi Massif (경기육괴 북서부 영흥도-선재도-대부도에 분포하는 변성퇴적암 내 쇄설성 저어콘의 SHRIMP U-Pb 연대)

  • We investigated the various lithologies and zircon U-Pb ages of metasedimentary rocks from the Yeongheung-Seonjae-Daebu Islands, western Gyeonggi Massif, whose geologic and geochronologic features are poorly constrained in spite of their significance for tectonic interpretation. Major lithology consists of quartzites or meta-sandstones commonly alternating with semi-pelitic schists, together with lesser amounts of calcareous sandstones with matrix-supported quartzite clasts, calcareous schists, and pelitic schists. Pelitic schists uncommonly contain large porphyroblasts of garnet as well as quartz veins with large crystals of muscovite and andalusite or kyanite. SHRIMP U-Pb ages of detrital zircons from two analyzed metasandstones define four age populations: Neoarchean (~2.5 Ga), Paleoproterozoic (~2.0-1.5 Ga), Neoproterozoic (~1.1-0.7 Ga), and Early Paleozoic (~560-400 Ma). The youngest zircon ages are clustered at ~420 Ma. These results suggest that the deposition of meta-sandstones took place after the Silurian, possibly during the Devonian, and are analogous to those of the Taean Formation reported from the western part of the Gyeonggi Massif. Moreover, The age distribution patterns of detrital zircons and the Barrovian-type metamorphic facies of pelitic schists are similar to those reported from the Imjingang belt, suggesting that the Taean Formation likely corresponds to southwestward extension of the Imjingang Belt.

  • 미래 정보와 시대에서 중추적인 역할을 할 광관련 멀티미디어 장비들은 최근 관련 산업계에서 주목을 받기 시작하고 있고 특히 기존 VTR(Video Tape Recorder) 시장을 대체할 차세대 DVDR(Digital Video Disk Recorder)는 기술전쟁이라고 할 정도로 선진 기업의 연구가 치열해지고 있다. DVDR 시스템에서는 필요한 정보들을 레이저빔을 이용한 광학신호로 바꾸어 광디스크에 기록, 재생하는 광픽업이 절대적으로 필요하게 된다. 그런데 광픽업의 위치추종기구인 Actuator는 정확한 위치추종(.+-.1.$\mu$m 오차이내)을 할 수 있는 성능이 요구되며 서보의 특성상 20KHz 이하에서 불필요한 모우드가 가진되지 않는 정밀부품이어야 하므로 Actuator 각 부품의 동적인 특성을 명확히 규명할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 우선 Actuator 각 부품과 가동부 전체의 중량 및 진동해석을 통해 동특성을 조사하였다. 그리고 Actuator의 중요한 기본성능중 하나인 구동감도 확보여부를 검토할 필요가 있기 때문에 유한요소법 프로그램인 ANSYS를 이용하여 자기회로 부분에 대한 해석을 구하였다. 또한 가동부와 자기회로 등 하위부품을 조립하는 과정에서 발생하는 조립오차로 인해 불필요한 공진과 회전형상이 야기될 수 있으므로 동특성 및 문제점 파악을 위한 민감도 분석이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 가동부의 관성 모멘트 값과 강체에 대한 일반식을 이용한 자체 프로그램을 작성하여 조립공차를 구하였다. 이와같은 과정을 통해 구해진 설계값을 바탕으로 실제 제작된 Actuator에 대해서는 비접촉식 측정방법을 통해 동특성값을 측정하였고 이를 해석값과 상호 비교하였다.동강성행렬법(dynamic stiffness matrix method)을 이용하여 해석하고자 한다. 수준임이 입증되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로우리나라 젊고 건강한 남성에게 적합한 무게상수는 작업자군에 대하여 25.05kg, 학생군에 대하여 20.24kg 으로 나타나 이는 미국 NIOSH 안전기준과 대체로 일치함을 발견하였다.ive structures utilized in Client/server architecture for distribution and cooperative processing of application between server and client this study presents two different data management methods under the Client/server environment; one is "Remote Data Management Method" which uses file server or database server and. the other is "Distributed Data Management Method" using distributed database management system.   • 보 및 평판의 진동에 대해서 에너지의 손실은 재료감쇠를 이용한 표면감쇠처리나 지지부에서의 감쇠처리에 의하여 증가될 수 있다. 감쇠재료를 이용한 표면감쇠처리의 예로서 보/평판 표면에 접착되는 감쇠 테이프나 코팅등은 아주 효과적임이 입증되었다. 마찬가지로 지지부 감쇠처리는 점탄성재료의 삽입에 의해서 설명될수 있다[1]. 보/평판의 감쇠에 대한 최근의 많은 연구들은 진동하고 있는 보/평판의 표면에 적용하는 감쇠 테이프 혹은 적층형태의 감쇠 처리방법에 대해서 주로 수행되었다. 일반적으로 표면감쇠처리방법은 진동감소에 아주 효과적이지만 실제 적용상에서 항상 가능한 것은 아니며, 이와 같은 경웨는 지지부 감쇠 처리방법에 의존하게 된다[2]. 감쇠특성을 갖는 점탄성재료를 실제로 적용할 때 보/평판의 유한한 길이가 점탄성재료로 지지되며 점탄성재료의 물성치와 치수에 따라서 계의 모우드 매개변수(고유진동수, 계의 손실계수 그리고 모우드형상)가 크게 달라진다. 그리고 이와 같은 계에 대해서는 지지부의 거동보다는 전체 시스템의 고유진동수와 손실계수 그리고 보 영역에서의 모우드 형상에 더 관심이 있으므로 지지부 영역을 집중매개변수(lumped parameter)로 나타내어 계를 해석할 수 있다. 일반적으로 보와 평판의 경계에서는 병진 및 회전방향의 강성 뿐만 아니라 두 강성사이에 연성효과도 동시에 발생하게 되므로 이 항을 고려하여 계를 모델링해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 우선 점탄성 재료에 의한 지지부영역의 등가 강성계수들을 구하고 경계에 강성행렬을 갖는 보의 등가시스템을 얻는다. 그리고 등가시스템의 주파수방정식으로부터 모우드 매개변수에 대한 지지부의 영향을 살펴본다. 또한 시스템이 비교적 복잡한 사각 평판의 진동에 대해서도 동강성행렬법(dynamic stiffness matrix method)을 이용하여 해석하고자 한다. 수준임이 입증되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로우리나라 젊고 건강한 남성에게 적합한 무게상수는 작업자군에 대하여 25.05kg, 학생군에 대하여 20.24kg 으로 나타나 이는 미국 NIOSH 안전기준과 대체로 일치함을 발견하였다.ive structures utilized in Client/server architecture for distribution and cooperative processing of application between server and client this study presents two different data management methods under the Client/server environment; one is "Remote Data Management Method" which uses file server or database server and. the other is "Distributed Data Management Method" using distributed database management system.   • Much progress has been made in understanding the subcellular events of the human lung injuries after acute exposure to environmental air pollutants. Host of those events represent oxidative damages mediated by reactive oxygen species such as superoxide, hydrogen peroxide, and the hydroxy, free radical. Recently, nitric oxide (NO) was found to be endogenously produced by endothelial cells and cells of the reticulo-endothelial system as endothelialderived relaxation factor (EDRF) which is a vasoactive and neurotransmitter substance. Together with superoxide, NO can form another strong oxidant, peroxonitrite. The relative importance of exogenous sources of $N0/N0_2$ and endogenous production of NO by the EDRF producing enzymes in the oxidative stresses to the heman lung has to be elucidated. The exact events leading to chronic irreversible damage are still yet to be known. From chronic exposure to oxidant gases, progressive epithelial and interstitial damages develop. Type I epithelial cells become thicker and cover a smaller average alveolar surface area while thee II cells proliferate instead. Under acute damages, the extent of loss of the alveolar epithelial cell lining, especially type II cells appears to be a good predictor of the ensuing irreversible damage to alveolar compartment. Interstitial matrix undergo remodeling during chronic exposure with increased collagen fibers and interstitial fibroblasts. However, Inany of these changes can be reversed after cessation of exposure. Among chronic lung injuries, genetic damages and repair responses received particular attention in view of the known increased lung cancer risks from exposure to several air pollutants. Heavy metals from foundry emission, automobile traffics, and total suspended particulate, especially polycystic aromatic hydrocarbons have been positively linked with the development of lung cancer. Asbestos in another air pollutant with known risk of lung cancer and mesothelioma, but asbestos fibers are nonauthentic in most bioassays. Studies using the electron spin resonance spin trapping method show that the presence of iron in asbestos accelerates the production of the hydroxy, radical in vitro. Interactions of these reactive oxygen species with particular cellular components and disruption of cell defense mechanisms still await further studies to elucidate the carcinogenic potential of asbestos fibers of different size and chemical composition. The distribution of inhaled pollutants and the magnitude of their eventual effects on the respiratory tract are determined by pollutant-independent physical factors such as anatomy of the respiratory tract and level and pattern of breathing, as well as by pollutant-specific phyco-chemical factors such as the reactivity, solubility, and diffusivity of the foreign gas in mucus, blood and tissue. Many of these individual factors determining dose can be quantified in vitro. However, mathematical models based on these factors should be validated for its integrity by using data from intact human lungs.

Molecular characterization and expression pattern of a novel Keratin-associated protein 11.1 gene in the Liaoning cashmere goat (Capra hircus)

  • Objective: An experiment was conducted to determine the relationship between the KAP11.1 and the regulation wool fineness. Methods: In previous work, we constructed a skin cDNA library and isolated a full-length cDNA clone termed KAP11.1. On this basis, we conducted a series of bioinformatics analysis. Tissue distribution of KAP11.1 mRNA was performed using semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis. The expression of KAP11.1 mRNA in primary and secondary hair follicles was performed using real-time PCR (real-time polymerase chain reaction) analysis. The expression location of KAP11.1 mRNA in primary and secondary hair follicles was performed using in situ hybridization. Results: Bioinformatics analysis showed that KAP11.1 gene encodes a putative 158 amino acid protein that exhibited a high content of cysteine, serine, threonine, and valine and has a pubertal mammary gland) structural domain. Secondary structure prediction revealed a high proportion of random coils (76.73%). Semi-quantitative RT-PCR showed that KAP11.1 gene was expressed in heart, skin, and liver, but not expressed in spleen, lung and kidney. Real time PCR results showed that the expression of KAP11.1 has a higher expression in catagen than in anagen in the primary hair follicles. However, in the secondary hair follicles, KAP11.1 has a significantly higher expression in anagen than in catagen. Moreover, KAP11.1 gene has a strong expression in inner root sheath, hair matrix, and a lower expression in hair bulb. Conclusion: We conclude that KAP11.1 gene may play an important role in regulating the fiber diameter.

Study on Mineralogical Characteristics and Firing Condition of the 4-6th Century Earthenware Excavated from the Seonggok-ri, Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do (경상북도 청도군 성곡리에서 출토된 4-6세기 토기의 광물학적 특성 연구 및 소성환경 추정)

  • This study is conducted to estimate the firing temperature and condition of the 4-6th Century earthenwares excavated from the ancient tombs in the Seonggok-ri, Cheongdo through mineralogical approaches, and to contrast to the characteristics of the earthenware from the Changnyeong the adjacent area to the Cheongdo. The Cheongdo earthenware was mainly composed of quartz, pores and vitric matrix with minor parts of feldspars, felsic volcanic fragments and opaque minerals, of which quartz crystals frequently show embayed texture and pores was partly filled with amorphous quartz. Mullite, hematite and cristobalite were found by XRD spectrometer additionally, and in the SEM image the Mullite contents are evenly distributed from the central part to the marginal part. As a result, the firing temperature of the Cheongdo earthenware could be 1,100 to $1,200^{\circ}C$, which is higher than that of the Changnyeong. Distribution characteristics of mullite in the Cheongdo and the Changnyeong earthenware indicate that the Cheongdo earthenware was under the longer firing time or more homogeneous thermal condition in the kiln than the Changnyeong.

Effect of Cooling Rate and Annealing Temperature on Corrosion and Microstructure of Zircaloy-4 and Zr-2.5Nb Alloy (Zircaloy-4와 Zr-2.5Nb 합금의 부식과 미세조직에 미치는 냉각속도와 소둔온도의 영향)

  • To investigate the effect of cooling rate and annealing temperature on the corrosion of Zircaloy-4 and Zr-2. 5Nb alloys, autoclave corrosion tests were performed at $500^{\circ}C$ for the specimens prepared by various heat treatments. The specimens were heat-treated at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes and cooled by ice-brine quenching, water quenching, oil quenching, air cooling, and furnace cooling. To investigate the effect of annealing temperature, the specimens were annealed at $\alpha$, ($\alpha$+$\beta$)-, and $\beta$-temperatures. It was observed from the $500^{\circ}C$ corrosion test that nodular corrosion occurred on the Zircaloy-4 alloy but did not occur on the Zr-2.5Nb alloy. The corrosion resistance of Zircaloy-4 increased with increasing the cooling rate. On the other hand, the corrosion resistance of Zr-2.5Nb decreased with increasing the cooling rate and the annealing temperature. It is suggested that corrosion resistance of Zircaloy-4 would be controlled by the distribution of Fe and Cr element in the matrix and precipitates, while that of Zr-2.5Nb alloy the niobium concentration and $\beta_{-Nb}$ phase.

  • In this study, CNT functionalized with pyrrolidine ring via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction with various amino acid and aldehyde was synthesized. Metallocene was subsequently immobilized on the functionalized CNT and CNT/polyethylene composite was prepared via in-situ ethylene polymerization. The polymerization activities of metallocene supported on CNT functionalized with glycine and benzaldehyde (Gly+BA-CNT) were similar to those of metallocene supported on CNT functionalized with N-benzyloxycarbonylglycine and paraformaldehyde (Z-Gly+PFA-CNT) although its Zr content was lower than that of Z-Gly+PFA-CNT. In the case of metallocene supported on Z-Gly+PFA-CNT, the even distribution of active sites hindered the diffusion of ethylene monomer and cocatalyst MAO due to steric hindrance during ethylene polymerization. Compared to polyethylene produced from homogeneous metallocene catalysts, CNT/PE composites had a higher initial degradation temperature ($T_{onset}$) and maximum mass loss temperature ($T_{max}$). It suggests that pyrrolidine functionalized CNT is uniformly dispersed and strongly interacted with the PE matrix, enhancing the thermal stability of PE.
