  • With distribution industrial control system, the use of low cost to achieve a highly reliable and safe system in real time distributed embedded application is proposed. This developed intelligent node is based on two microcontrollers, one for the execution of the application code, also as master controller for ensuring the real time control & the logic operation with PLD and other for communication task and the easy control execution, i.e., I/O digital input, digital output and interrupting. This paper also presents where the case NCS (Networked control system) with LonTalk protocol is applied for the filtration process control system of a small water treatment plant.

  • This paper present a distributed RC lines (URCs) oscillator with sinusoidal output. The frequency of oscillator can be controlled and adjustable by varying an one pole amplifier. The circuit incorporated an gain controller loop for amplitude stabilization with low distortion. The realization of simulation and experimental results are in reasonably good agreement with the theoretical , and very low harmonic distortion. In this circuit can be suitable for LSI process fabrication and the circuit application in electronic communications system.

  • This paper describes a PC-based distributed multi-rate realtime control system using USB protocol, which is developed as a general motion controller. The control system consists of two control programs: one running at 1 kHz sampling rate on a PC with Linux and another running at 10 kHz sampling rate on a remotely located motion control card called RASID (remote axis serial interface device). Two programs communicates through USB at every 1 msec. A USB communication driver is developed to ensured the 1 msec desired communication time. The main program running on the PC generates reference trajectory at 1 kHz and send it to the RASID through USB and RASIDs located near the motors gather the sensor information and execute the low-level control at 10 kHz. The USB-based connectivity reduces the wiring harness and eventually the manufacturing cost of the machine. The multi-rate nature of the developed system improves the control capability. The effect of sampling rate is analyzed and simulated.

  • We develop a neural network control algorithm for the ACS (Advanced Control System). The ACS is an extended version of the DCS (Distributed Control System) to which functions of fault detection and diagnosis and advanced control algorithms are added such as neural networks, fuzzy logics, and so on. In spite of its usefulness proven by computer simulations, the neural network control algorithm, as far as we know, has no tool which makes it applicable to process control. It is necessary that the neural network controller should be turned into the function code for its application to the ACS. So we develop a general method to implement the neural network control systems for the ACS. By simulations using the simulator for the boiler of 'Seoul fire power plant unit 4', the methodology proposed in this paper is validated to have the applicability to process control.

  • The heat of reaction has been estimated from heat balance relationships around the reactor. The heat balance equations were formulated with the assumptions that the reactor temperature is uniformly distributed and the jacket temperatures are axially distributed. We have obtained the temperature distribution of jacket contents by FDM. And then, we have rearranged the heat balance equations so that the heat of reaction can be estimated from the finite number of temperature measurements, i.e., temperatures of the reactor contents, at the jacket inlet and outlet, respectively. The proposed method for reaction heat estimation on were applied to industrial batch reactors ; one is ABS polymerization reactor and the other is SAN polymerization reactor. We have also examined the variation of overall heat transfer coefficients for the reactors during reaction.

  • In this paper, we discuss a design method of iterative learning control systems for parabolic linear distributed parameter systems(DPSs). First, we discuss some aspects of boundary control of the DPS, and then propose to employ the Karhunen-Loeve procedure to reduce the infinite dimensional problem to a low-order finite dimensional problem. An iterative learning control(ILC) for non-square transfer function matrix is introduced finally for the reduced order system.

  • Robotic manipulators have become increasingly important in the field of flexible automation. High speed and high-precision trajectory tracking are indispensable capabilities for their versatile application. The need to meet demanding control requirement in increasingly complex dynamical control systems under significant uncertainties, leads toward design of intelligent manipulation robots. This paper presents a new approach to the design of neural control system using digital signal processors in order to improve the precision and robustness. The TMS32OC31 is used in implementing real time neural control to provide an enhanced motion control for robotic manipulators. In this control scheme, the networks introduced are neural nets with dynamic neurons, whose dynamics are distributed over all the, network nodes. The nets are trained by the distributed dynamic back propagation algorithm. The proposed neural network control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for implementation of real-time, control. Performance of the neural controller is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for a SCARA robot.

  • One of problems in industries is an installation for an automation system device such sensor, transducer, controller, and so on those are located in different areas. Such problem makes a difficulty for maintenance and installation. The aim of this research attempts to design a high performance controller with remote devices. One attractive is to group near devices in near place together to centralizes control. This paper presents network device groups distributed through digital and analog Remote Terminal Unit (RTUs). Such devices are centralized by computer or PLC control and communicated with similar protocol through serial bus. Our scheme, there are many advantages such as, saving both time and cost, convenience compared to other ways.

  • Evolutionary algorithm has been receiving a remarkable attention due to the model-free and population-based parallel search attributes and much successful results are coming out. However, there are some problems in most of the evolutionary algorithms. The critical one is that it takes much time or large generations to search the global optimum in case of the objective function with multimodality. Another problem is that it usually cannot search all the local optima because it pays great attention to the search of the global optimum. In addition, if the objective function has several global optima, it may be very difficult to search all the global optima due to the global characteristics of the selection methods. To cope with these problems, at first we propose a preprocessing process, grid-filtering algorithm(GFA), and propose a new distributed evolutionary ...

  • Traditional control systems that consist of sensors, actuators and a controller centralized and connected with point-to-point links, have become distributed because of their performance limits and maintenance problems. Sensors and actuators are changed to smart devices having a processor and these devices and controllers are connected with fieldbuses such as Profibus, FIP, CAN, LonWorks and so on. Because they are distributed, it takes any delay to transmit data from sensor to controller and data from controller to actuator according to network characteristic. Also, the execution times of tasks in a node are not regular and depend on the node characteristic and the number of tasks and so on...
