Federated learning (FL) is a ground breaking machine learning paradigm that allow smultiple participants to collaboratively train models in a cloud environment, all while maintaining the privacy of their raw data. This approach is in valuable in applications involving sensitive or geographically distributed data. However, one of the challenges in FL is dealing with heterogeneous and non-independent and identically distributed (non-IID) data across participants, which can result in suboptimal model performance compared to traditionalmachine learning methods. To tackle this, we introduce FedGCD, a novel FL algorithm that employs Graph Neural Network (GNN)-based community detection to enhance model convergence in federated settings. In our experiments, FedGCD consistently outperformed existing FL algorithms in various scenarios: for instance, in a non-IID environment, it achieved an accuracy of 0.9113, a precision of 0.8798,and an F1-Score of 0.8972. In a semi-IID setting, it demonstrated the highest accuracy at 0.9315 and an impressive F1-Score of 0.9312. We also introduce a new metric, nonIIDness, to quantitatively measure the degree of data heterogeneity. Our results indicate that FedGCD not only addresses the challenges of data heterogeneity and non-IIDness but also sets new benchmarks for FL algorithms. The community detection approach adopted in FedGCD has broader implications, suggesting that it could be adapted for other distributed machine learning scenarios, thereby improving model performance and convergence across a range of applications.

In this paper, we introduce a Naive Bayes learning algorithm for learning and reasoning in Map-Reduce model based environment. For this purpose, we use Apache Mahout to execute Distributed Naive Bayes on University of California, Irvine (UCI) benchmark data sets. From the experimental results, we see that Apache Mahout' s Distributed Naive Bayes algorithm is comparable to WEKA' s Naive Bayes algorithm in terms of performance. These results indicates that in the future Big Data environment, Map-Reduce model based systems such as Apache Mahout can be promising for machine learning usage.

Recently, most cloud services use Docker container environment to provide their services. However, there are no researches to evaluate the performance of communication libraries for multi-GPU based distributed deep learning in a Docker container environment. In this paper, we propose an efficient communication architecture for multi-GPU based deep learning in a Docker container environment by evaluating the performances of various communication libraries. We compare the performances of the parameter server architecture and the All-reduce architecture, which are typical distributed deep learning architectures. Further, we analyze the performances of two separate multi-GPU resource allocation policies - allocating a single GPU to each Docker container and allocating multiple GPUs to each Docker container. We also experiment with the scalability of collective communication by increasing the number of GPUs from one to four. Through experiments, we compare OpenMPI and MPICH, which are representative open source MPI libraries, and NCCL, which is NVIDIA's collective communication library for the multi-GPU setting. In the parameter server architecture, we show that using CUDA-aware OpenMPI with multi-GPU per Docker container environment reduces communication latency by up to 75%. Also, we show that using NCCL in All-reduce architecture reduces communication latency by up to 93% compared to other libraries.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to design a framework for generating one-class classification algorithm based on Hyper-Rectangle(H-RTGL) in a distributed environment connected by network. Methods: At first, we devised one-class classifier based on H-RTGL which can be performed by distributed computing nodes considering model and data parallelism. Then, we also designed facilitating components for execution of distributed processing. In the end, we validate both effectiveness and efficiency of the classifier obtained from the proposed framework by a numerical experiment using data set obtained from UCI machine learning repository. Results: We designed distributed processing framework capable of one-class classification based on H-RTGL in distributed environment consisting of physically separated computing nodes. It includes components for implementation of model and data parallelism, which enables distributed generation of classifier. From a numerical experiment, we could observe that there was no significant change of classification performance assessed by statistical test and elapsed time was reduced due to application of distributed processing in dataset with considerable size. Conclusion: Based on such result, we can conclude that application of distributed processing for generating classifier can preserve classification performance and it can improve the efficiency of classification algorithms. In addition, we suggested an idea for future research directions of this paper as well as limitation of our work.

One of the many tools used for distributed deep learning training is Kubeflow, which runs on Kubernetes, a container orchestration tool. TensorFlow jobs can be managed using the existing operator provided by Kubeflow. However, when considering the distributed deep learning training jobs based on the parameter server architecture, the scheduling policy used by the existing operator does not consider the task affinity of the distributed training job and does not provide the ability to dynamically allocate or release resources. This can lead to long job completion time and low resource utilization rate. Therefore, in this paper we proposes a new operator that efficiently schedules distributed deep learning training jobs to minimize the job completion time and increase resource utilization rate. We implemented the new operator by modifying the existing operator and conducted experiments to evaluate its performance. The experiment results showed that our scheduling policy improved the average job completion time reduction rate of up to 84% and average CPU utilization increase rate of up to 92%.

In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, where automation and connectivity are maximized with artificial intelligence, the importance of data collection and utilization for model update is increasing. In order to create a model using artificial intelligence technology, it is usually necessary to gather data in one place so that it can be updated, but this can infringe users' privacy. In this paper, we introduce federated learning, a distributed machine learning method that can update models in cooperation without directly sharing distributed stored data, and introduce a study to optimize distributed consensus among participants without an existing server. In addition, we propose a pattern and group-based distributed consensus optimization algorithm that uses an algorithm for generating patterns and groups based on the Kirkman Triple System, and performs parallel updates and communication. This algorithm guarantees more privacy than the existing distributed consensus optimization algorithm and reduces the communication time until the model converges.

Advances in communication technologies and the decreasing cost of computers have made distributed computer systems an attractive alternative for satisfying the information needs of large organizations. This paper presents a distributed algorithm for performance improvement through load balancing and file migration in distributed systems. We employed a sender initiated strategy for task migration and used learning automata with several internal states for file migration. A task can be migrated according to the load information of a computer. A file is migrated to the destination processor when it is in the right boundary state. We also described an analytical model for load balancing with file migration to verify the proposed algorithm. Analytical and simulation results show that our algorithm is very well-suited for distributed system environments.

The goal of deep learning is to extract complex features from multidimensional data use the features to create models that connect input and output. Deep learning is a process of learning nonlinear features and functions from complex data, and the user data that is employed to train deep learning models has become the focus of privacy concerns. Companies that collect user's sensitive personal information, such as users' images and voices, own this data for indefinite period of times. Users cannot delete their personal information, and they cannot limit the purposes for which the data is used. The study has designed a deep learning method that employs privacy protection technology that uses distributed collaborative learning so that multiple participants can use neural network models collaboratively without sharing the input datasets. To prevent direct leaks of personal information, participants are not shown the training datasets during the model training process, unlike traditional deep learning so that the personal information in the data can be protected. The study used a method that can selectively share subsets via an optimization algorithm that is based on modified distributed stochastic gradient descent, and the result showed that it was possible to learn with improved learning accuracy while protecting personal information.

In this paper, we propose optimal methodologies for classifying patent literature by examining various feature extraction methods, machine learning and deep learning models, and provide optimal performance through experiments. We compared the traditional BoW method and a distributed representation method (word embedding vector) as a feature extraction, and compared the morphological analysis and multi gram as the method of constructing the document collection. In addition, classification performance was verified using traditional machine learning model and deep learning model. Experimental results show that the best performance is achieved when we apply the deep learning model with distributed representation and morphological analysis based feature extraction. In Section, Class and Subclass classification experiments, We improved the performance by 5.71%, 18.84% and 21.53%, respectively, compared with traditional classification methods.
In this paper, we present the strategy of object search for distributed autonomous robotic systems (DARS). The DARS are the systems that consist of multiple autonomous robotic agents to whom required functions are distributed. For instance, the agents should recognize their surrounding at where they are located and generate some rules to act upon by themselves. In this paper, we introduce the strategy for multiple DARS robots to search a hidden object at the unknown area. First, we present an area-based action making process to determine the direction change of the robots during their maneuvers. Second, we also present Q learning adaptation to enhance the area-based action making process. Third, we introduce the coordinate system to represent a robot's current location. In the end of this paper, we show experimental results using hexagon-based Q learning to find the hidden object.
