  • The G-banding patterns of normal and of delayed spiralized chromosomes by BUdR were investigated in three established cell lines of dwarf hamsters. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The number of G-bands appeared in Chinese hamster T-233 cell line was 65. The centromeric dark band was found in No.1 chromosome and weakly stained bands were also observed in part of the centromeric regions of Nos. 2, 3, 8 and $X_2$ chromosomes. Two homologous X chromosomes were found in different banding patterns. Terminal dark bands were shown in No. 1 chromosome. No conspicuous bands appeared in No. 10 chromosome. 2. Eighty four bands appeared in Armenian hamster Y-1249 cell line. Centromeric dark bands were observed in Nos. 5 and 10 chromosomes and moderatly stained bands were also found in near the centromeric region of the long arms of Nos. 7 and 9 chromosomes. Two isomorphic X chromosomes were also distinguished by their banding patterns. 3. In Y-1313 Armenian hamster cell line, the bands were 69. No centromeric dark bands were observed in this cell line, but moderatly stained bands appeared in the centromeric area in the long arm of No. 9 chromosome. The banding patterns of these two cell lines of Armenian hamster were quite different and readily distinguished. Only No. 8 chromosome showed similar G-banding patterns. Although Nos. 5, 7 abd 8 chromosomes revealed the same number of bands in these two cell lines, the location and staining intensity were quite different. 4. Chromosomes of Nos. 1, 2, 6, $X_1$ and $X_2$ in T-233 cell line and of 1, 4, 7, 8, 9, $X_1$ and $X_2$ in both cell lines of Armenian hamster were found to be elongated due to the inhibition of mitotic spiralization by BUdR. G-banding patterns of these chromosomes were found to be identical to those of normal chromosomes in these cell lines.

  • Introduction: In this study, we compared sleep structure, EEG characteristic of pediatric obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and normal controls which were matched in sex and age. Methods: Fifteen children (male:female=4:11) who complained snoring and were suspected to have sleep apnea and their age and sex matched normal controls (male:female=5:10) have been done nocturnal polysomnography (NPSG). Sleep parameters, sleep apnea variables and relative spectral components of EEG from NPSG have been compared between both groups. Results: Pediatric OSA group were distinguished from normal controls in terms of apnea index, respiratory disturbance index and nadir of oxyhemoglobulin desaturation. Pediatric OSA group showed increased percent of sleep stage 1, decreased rapid eye movement sleep percent and increased delta power in O1 EEG channel. However other sleep parameters and spectral powers were not different between two groups. Conclusion: In pediatric OSA group, sleep structure parameter disruption may be not prominent as the previous studies for adult OSA group because of including mild OSA data in diagnostic criteria. In addition, EEG changes might not be distinct due to low arousal index compared to adult OSA patients. We can observe general characteristics and particularity of pediatric OSA through this study.

  • Maize is one of the major crops consumed in worldwide, which nutrients accounts for a large amount of starch, but also functional components, and phenolic acid is known to have a high content. Maize is divided into waxy maize, sweet maize, and normal maize with its shape and use, therefore there is also a difference in nutritional composition. This study was conducted to analyze the content of functional components according to the type of maize and to produce natural variation data in consideration of environmental factors. 3 shapes of maize (waxy maize, sweet maize, and normal maize) samples cultivated in 3 regions (Suwon, Daegu, and Hongcheon) were analyzed using HPLC and GC-TOF-MS. Comparing with type through ANOVA, multivariate statistical analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, 28 components, including carotenoids and tocopherols, showed significant differences among a total of 32 components (p <0.05), 15 of them showed very significant differences (p <0.001). When comparing with regions, 15 components showed significant differences and only vanillate, syringate, C23-ol of them showed most significant differences (p <0.001). As a result of principal component analysis, cluster classification was distinguished by shape than by region, with α-carotene, cholesterol for waxy maize, vanillate and stigmasterol for sweet maize, lutein and β-carotene for normal maize had a great effect on cluster formation. It suggests that the content of functional components is more affected by genetic factors than environmental factors.

  • Gastrointestinal stromal tumor is the most common mesenchymal tumor in the gastrointestinal tract and is most frequently developed in the stomach in the form of submucosal tumor. The incidence of gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor is estimated to be as high as 25% of the population when all small and asymptomatic tumors are included. Because gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor is not completely distinguished from other submucosal tumors, a surgical excisional biopsy is recommended for tumors >2 cm. The surgical principles of gastrointestinal stromal tumor are composed of an R0 resection with a normal mucosa margin, no systemic lymph node dissection, and avoidance of perforation, which results in peritoneal seeding even in cases with otherwise low risk profiles. Laparoscopic surgery has been indicated for gastrointestinal stromal tumors <5 cm, and the indication for laparoscopic surgery is expanded to larger tumors if the above mentioned surgical principles can be maintained. A simple exogastric resection and various transgastric resection techniques are used for gastrointestinal stromal tumors in favorable locations (the fundus, body, greater curvature side). For a lesion at the gastroesophageal junction in the posterior wall of the stomach, enucleation techniques have been tried preserve the organ's function. Those methods have a theoretical risk of seeding a ruptured tumor, but this risk has not been evaluated by well-designed clinical trials. While some clinical trials are still on-going, neoadjuvant imatinib is suggested when marginally unresectable or multiorgan resection is anticipated to reduce the extent of surgery and the chance of incomplete resection, rupture or bleeding.

  • Actinomycosis is a chronic suppurative infection characterized by extensive necrosis, fibrosis and sinus formation without regard to normal tissue planes. The causative organism in human infection is Actinomyces israelii. Thoracic actinomycosis is diagnosed in the presence of poor oral hygiene, pulmonary infiltrate, empyema, sinus tract and osteomyelitis of ribs. However, in the absence of chest wall involvement, the diagnosis of pulmonary actinomycosis is difficult and its initial clinical manifestations may lead physicians to suspect tuberculosis or neoplasm. It could not be distinguished from tuberculosis or neoplasm radiologically. We report a case of pulmonary actinomycosis in a 64 year old woman with a review of the literature.

  • Body shape of a child in elementary school is distinguished by physical differences in the form of low weight, normal weight and obesity, which are influenced by various periodic environments. In particular, there are hardly any patterns for obese children in elementary school to choose. To this end, the purpose of this study is to supplement the problems with the production lines of the companies for children's patterns as well as an analysis on the physical characteristics of obese children and to suggest the patterns appropriate to obese children. This study employed obese children from the 3rd- to 5th-grade elementary school students whose number has been rapidly increasing and conducted a questionnaire regarding the draft of the patterns for obese children on their mothers and the makers of children's clothing. Based on the results, the study compared and analyzed ordinary children's patterns to the patterns in question by suggesting a dimension system for Korean obese children. The results are as follows. The obesity rate of the children in elementary school has been grown in significant numbers every year, whereas obese children's sense of self-identity and degree of satisfaction with their patterns appeared to be much lower than other ordinary children in the peer group; also, the satisfaction level their mothers with their children's patterns appeared to be low. In order to verify the degree of the children's satisfaction with their patterns, the study suggested a dimension system for the obese children and displayed appropriateness by comparing the children patterns from ordinary companies and the patterns in question.

  • Generally speaking, agriculture exist in a climatic environment of uncertainty. Namely, normal rainfall value, as given by the mean values, does not exist. Thought on exists, itl does not affect like extreme Precipitation value on the part of agriculture and of others. Therefore, it is important that we measure the duration and severity index of drought caused by extreme precipitation deficit. In this purpose, this study was dealt with the calculation of drought duration and severity indexs by the method of monthly weighting coefficient. There is no quantitive definition of drought that is universally acceptable. Most of the criteria was used to identify drought have been arbitrary because a drought is a 'non-event' as opposed to a distinct event such as a flood. Therefore, confusion arises when an attempt is made to define the drought phenomenon, the calculation of duration, drought index is based on the following four fundamental question, and this study was dealt with the answers of these four questions as they related to this analytical method, as follows. First, the primary interest in this study is to be the lack of precipitation as it relates to agricultural effective rainfall. Second, the time interval was used to be month in this analysis. Third, Drought event, distinguished analytically from other event, is noted by monthly weighting coefficient method based on monthly rainfall data. Fin-ally, the seven regions used in this study have continually affected by drought on account of their rainfall deficit. The result from this method was very similar to the previous papers studied by many workers. Therefore, I think that this method is very available in Korea to identify the duration of drought, the deficit of precipitation and severity index of drought, But according to the climate of Korea exist the Asia Monsoon zone. The monthly weighting coefficient is modify a little, Because get out of 0.1-0.4 occasionally.

  • It is a great role that the character of man or woman could be distinguished by hair on the aspect of ornament. Hair will be support of beautifulness of human being in various permanent wave by many kinds of its drugs. Hair is based upon the skin which enroll the body of high living animals and have multiple membrane structure. This study used rat and the effects of commercial permanent wave products to skin which are composed with thioglycolic acid and bases. Results are as follows. Permanent wave penetrated to 4 hours later with steady state in skins and was not significant changeable after 20hr later. In case of neutralizer with thioglycolic acid lag time and permeability coefficient in healthy skin is 3.38hr and $0.094^{\mu}g/cm^{2}$ ${\cdot}$ hr, it old skin is 3.48hr and 0.129$^{\mu}g/cm^{2}$ ${\cdot}$ hr, and it wounded skin is 4.72hr and $0.158^{\mu}g/cm^{2}$ ${\cdot}$ hr. In conclusion, lag time and permeability coefficient in old skin and wounded skin are faster than healthy skin. In vivo which was studied by general time and method of permanent wave. We notified that fine rinkle and rash of skin were changeable in the case of treating with permanent wave drugs than normal skin. We can see even rash and eruption by the naked eye.

  • A new serum-free defined medium was developed that supports the growth of normal rat mammary epithelial cells. Mammary organoids from the glands of female F344 rats were cultured in a serum-free medium. Monolayer culture colonies developed within a week and remained viable for months in culture. Upon subculture of one-week-old primary colonies, almost the same morphology of colonies was developed. The scrape loading/dye transfer technique showed that most of colonies that developed in a serum-free medium containing EGF, human transferrin, insulin, and hydrocortisone (basal serum-free medium, BSFM) failed to show cell-cell communication. However, colonies cultured in BSFM supplemented with prolactin, $E_2$, and progesterone (complete hormone serum-free medium, CHSFM) showed cell-cell communication at 14 days of primary culture or of subculture. By flow cytometry with FITCPNA and PE-anti-Thy-1.1 monoclonal antibody, we distinguished four RMEC subpopulations in cultures in both media: Thy-1.1+ cells, PNA+ cells, cells negative to both reagents and cells positive to both reagents. It is likely that combined prolactin, cortisol, and insulin in CHSFM stimulate terminal differentiation of clonogenic cells.

  • These studies show that I applied to functional insole (a specific S company) for minimizing shocks and sprain people's ankle arising from running. How to an effect on human body which studied a kinematics and kinetics from 10 college students during experiments. This study imposes several conditions by barefoot, normal running shoes and put functional insole shoes ran under average $2.0{\pm}0.24$ meter per second by motion analysis, ground reaction force and electromyography that used to specific A company. First of all, Motion analysis was caused by Achilles tendon angle, Angle of the lower leg, Angle of the knee, Initial sole angle and Barefoot angle. Second, Contact time, Vertical impact force peak timing, Vertical active force and Active force timing, and Maximum loading rate under impulse of first 20 percent and Value of total impulse caused Ground reaction force. Third. The tendon fo Quadriceps femoris, Biceps femoris, Tibialis anterior and gastronemius medials caused. electromyography. 1. Ground reaction force also showed that statically approximates other results from impact peak timing (p.001), Maximum loading rate(p<.001), Maximum loading rate timing (p<.001) and impulse of first 20 percent (p<.001). 2 Electromyography showed that averagely was distinguished from other factors, and did not show about that. Above experiment values known that there was statically difference between Motion analysis and Ground reaction force under absorbing of the functional insole shoes which was not have an effect on our body for kinetics and kinematics.
