In this paper, we describe an image processing algorithm which is able to recognize the road lane. This algorithm performs to recognize the interrelation between AGV and the other vehicle. We experimented on AGV driving test with color CCD camera which is setup on the top of vehicle and acquires the digital signal. This paper is composed of two parts. One is image preprocessing part to measure the condition of the condition of the lane and vehicle. This finds the information of lines using RGB ratio cutting algorithm, the edge detection and Hough transform. The other obtains the situation of other vehicles using the image processing and viewport. At first, 2 dimension image information derived from vision sensor is interpreted to the 3 dimension information by the angle and position of the CCD camera. Through these processes, if vehicle knows the driving conditions which are lane angle, distance error and real position of other vehicles, we should calculate the reference steering angle.
This paper presents a novel algorithm in order to extract lane-related information based on machine vision techniques. The algorithm makes up for the weak points of the former method, the Edge Distribution Function(EDF)-based approach, by introducing a Lane Boundary Pixel Extractor (LBPE) and the well-known Hough Transform(HT). The LBPE that serves as a filter to extract pixels expected to be on lane boundaries enhances the robustness of machine vision, and provides its results to the HT implementation and EDF construction. The HT forms the accumulator arrays and extracts the lane-related parameters composed of orientation and distance. Furthermore, as the histogram of edge magnitude with respect to edge orientation angle, the EDF has peaks at the orientations corresponding to lane slopes on the perspective image domain. Therefore, by fusing the results from the EDF and the HT the proposed algorithm improves the confidence of the extracted lane-related information. The system shows successful results under various degrees of illumination.
In this paper a novel feature extraction and selection is carried out in order to improve the discriminating capability between healthy and damaged structure using vibration signals. Although many feature extraction and selection algorithms have been proposed for vibration signals, most proposed approaches don't consider the discriminating ability of features since they are usually in unsupervised manner. We proposed a novel feature extraction and selection algorithm selecting few wavelet coefficients with higher class discriminating capability for damage detection and class visualization. We applied three class separability measures to evaluate the features, i.e. T test statistics, divergence, and Bhattacharyya distance. Experiments with vibration signals from truss structure demonstrate that class separabilities are significantly enhanced using our proposed algorithm compared to other two algorithms with original time-based features and Fourier-based ones.
This paper proposes technique to detect ground fault in railway high voltage distribution lines. Overcurrent relay technique is widely used for detecting one line ground fault that occurs most frequently in railway high voltage distribution lines. However, ground fault in distribution line is usually high impedance fault with arc. Because the fault current magnitude measured in substation is very small, the conventional overcurrent relay can't detect the high impedance ground fault. Therefore this paper proposes the advanced technique using wavelet transform. It extracts D1 component from fault signals and detects fault comparing magnitude of D1 component in each phase. To evaluate this proposed technique, we model distribution system using PSCAD/EMTDC and extract various fault data. In conclusion this technique can detect ground fault including high impedance fault regardless of fault distance, fault impedance etc.
In this paper, we have designed a Fingerprint Recognition System based on the Embedded LINUX. The fingerprint is captured using the AS-S2 semiconductor sensor. To extract a feature vector we transform the image of the fingerprint into a column vector. The image is row-wise filtered with the low-pass filter of the Haar wavelet. The feature vectors of the different fingerprints are compared by computing with the probabilistic neural network the distance between the target feature vector and the stored feature vectors in advance. The system implemented consists of a server PC based on the LINUX and a client based on the Embedded LINUX. The client is a Tynux box-x board using a PXA-255 CPU. The algorithm is simple and fast in computing and comparing the fingerprints.
In this paper, a 2-dimensional accurate edge-based matching algorithm using subpixel edges is proposed that combines the Generalized Hough Transform(GHT) and the Chamfer matching to complement the weakness of either method. First, the GHT is used to find the approximate object positions and orientations, and then these positions and orientations are used as starting parameter values to find more accurate position and orientation using the Chamfer matching with distance interpolation. Finally, matching accuracy is further refined by using a subpixel algorithm. Testing results demonstrate that greater matching accuracy is achieved using subpixel edges rather than edge pixels.
This paper presents an image analysis method for mearurement correction using the object contour based analysis, which measure the shape features of the imitation missile object. The image analysis is divided into object's tilting angle analysis and corner points detection. The tilting angle is calculated by edge extracting the region-of-interest image and by Radon transform it. The corner points are obtained by contour tracking of binary image and its curvature data processing and analysis. The ability of this presented method is simulated and evaluated by the results of accuracy testing.

The problem of the transient interaction of a plane acoustic shock wave which has an infinitely steep wave front with a cylindrical or spherical elastic shell has been studied analytically from early fifties based on the integral transform and series solution techniques. Huang adopted an inverse Laplace transform, and used a finite number of terms of the infinite series expansion of the equations for the shells. In the 1990s, the results have been used by many authors for validation of computer codes. The object of this paper is to discuss the interaction between a moving source and submerged spherical shells. Since the center of source is moving the first contact location between the waves and shell changes depending on the source velocity and distance. These are considered in the analysis. Furthermore, constant source strength and decreasing strength are considered in the analysis. Radial velocities at several locations on the structure are obtained and the results are discussed.
In this study, the nose of cam in the automobile engine was modelled into circular disk to analyze the torsional vibration of the cam shaft. The distance between disks was fixed, but the diameter of disks was changed. The torsional vibration of the cam shaft was studied experimentally by the motion of the modelled disk with changing the disk diameter. And the sizes of the modelled disk were selected not to show the natural frequencies over all the experimental ranges. The torsional vibration meter used in this study has a laser system with non-contact measurement method, which can measure both torsional angular vibration velocity and torsional angular vibration displacement simultaneously. The Experimental analysis shows that the characteristics of the torsional vibration in the horizontal rotating shaft can be considerably affected by the arrangement of the modelled disks.
