A sub-field rearrangement driving method has been proposed to reduce a DFC (Dynamic False Contour) phenomenon in plasma display panels. The proposed driving method expresses 256 gray levels with 16 sub-fields, while conventional one uses only 8 sub-fields. Notwithstanding the increase in the number of sub-fields, the display time is similar to the conventional 8 sub-fields driving method by appropriate choosing selective writing and selective erasing for sub-fields.

In this paper, some important driving issues pertaining to the sustain-driving circuit are examined A new driving circuit is also proposed The new circuit is cost effective and has a simple PCB layout in comparison to the conventional one. Some additional driving advantages are noted as well.
The characteristics of the sustain-driving circuit were examined in this paper. The sustain-driving circuit is in charge of the most important part of PDP driving because it manages most of the power consumption in the PDP. A couple of gatedriving circuits for the sustain-driving circuit were introduced in this paper, and a new driving circuit was also proposed. This new circuit is more cost-effective and has a simpler PCB layout compared to the conventional one. Some additional driving advantages were noted as well.

We have developed a novel driving method, Six times Rate Driving(SRD) for the purpose of making cost competitive TFT-LCD. By applying SRD method to an a-Si TFT-LCD, the driving rate was increased six times as it was named but the number of data lines and so its D-Ics were reduced to one sixth of the conventional one which resulted in the cost saving of that much. We also newly designed the gate driver in order to avoid any expansion of the bezel width caused by applying SRD. Our newly developed driving technology, SRD was successfully applied to 7.0-inch WSVGA (1024 ${\times}$ 600) TFT-LCD which can be driven with only one data D-IC and here introduced.

This paper classifies driving technologies for AMOLEDs by the driving TFT conditions in pixels. A saturation region operation type driving TFT circuit provides good stability of OLED because of constant current drive. However, complicated compensation circuits are necessary to avoid effect of the TFT characteristics deviation. On the other hand, a linear region operation type driving TFT circuit provides better uniformity of the display image and lower power consumption. However, the stability of OLED is critical because of constant voltage drive.

We propose a novel digital driving method for AM-OLED (Active Matrix-Organic Light Emitting Diode) display. Proposed method modulates $V_{DD}$ so that luminance may be weighted in accordance with the bit significance. We can increase the minimum emission time or slower scan circuits are applicable by using proposed method.

We have developed a new driving method named TROPHY(Talented Role-playing Technology with Dual Polarity sustainer in Hybrid Mono board). In this method, the sustain voltage is partially compared to the conventional method and the number of power sources is reduced by voltage level unification during the reset, address and sustain period. The hybrid mono board was especially developed to implement those technologies. Through this, we can lower the cost with the TROPHY compared to the conventional one. It is a suitable technology to improve the reliability of circuit and image sticking problem. We can also reduce the number of driving boards and the EMI problem compared with those of the conventional method.

Dynamic Driving Carbon Nanotube Backlight Units (CNT-BLUs) can well utilize the persistence of their phosphor. This paper studies several dynamic driving schemes for the CNT-BLU developed by DTC/ITRI. Their illuminating efficiencies are experimentally evaluated. From these evaluations, this paper develops a new driving approach and even better efficiencies are obtained.

This paper proposes a novel RGB-LED (light emitting diode) backlight system, for 32" LCD TVs, accompanied by a new X-Y Channel driving method in which its row and column switches control the individual division screen. This proposed driving method is able to produce division driving effects such as image improvement and reduced power consumption. Not only that, the number of driver needed in this method, that is 3 power supplies with 3*(m+n) switches, is much fewer than that of cluster driving method, that is 3*(m*n) driver.
A CMOS driving circuit for active matrix type polymer electroluminescent displays was designed to develop an on-chip microdisplay on the single crystal silicon wafer substrate. The driving circuit is a conventional structure that is composed of the row, column and pixel driving parts. 256 gray scales were implemented using pulse amplitude modulation method. The 2-transistor driving scheme was adopted for the pixel driving part. The layout was carried out considering the compatibility with the standard CMOS process. Judging from the layout of the driving circuit, it turns that it is possible to implement a high-resolution display about 400 ppi resolution. Through the HSPICE simulation, it was verified that this circuit is capable of driving a VGA signal mode display and implementing 256 gray levels.
