In this paper the numerical methods of finding the optimal position of optical phase conjugator (OPC) and the optimal fiber dispersion are proposed, which are able to effectively compensate overall channels in $16{\times}40$ Gbps WDM system. And the compensation characteristics in the system with two induced optimal parameters are compared with those in the system with the currently used mid-span spectral inversion (MSSI) in order to confirm the availability of the proposed methods. It is confirmed that the reception performances are largely improved in the system with the induced optimal parameters than in the system with MSSI through the analyzing the eye opening penalty (EOP) and bit error rate (BER) characteristics. It is also confirmed that two optimal parameters depend on each other, but are less related with the procedural problem about the first optimal value among these.

In the present work, a design of experiment (DOE) technique using Taguchi method, has been applied to optimize the properties of ODS tungsten heavy alloys(WHAs). In this work Taguchi method involves nine experiments groups for four processing parameters (compaction pressure, sintering temperature, binding material type, and oxide type) with three levels was implemented. The signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to obtain the optimal process parameter levels and to analyze the effect of these parameters on density, electrical conductivity, hardness and compressive strength values. The results showed that all the chosen factors have significant effects on all properties of ODS tungsten heavy alloys samples. The density, electrical conductivity and hardness increases with the increase in sintering temperature. The analysis of the verification experiments for the physical properties (density and Electrical conductivity) has shown that Taguchi parameter design can successfully verify the optimal parameters, where the difference between the predicted and the verified values of relative density and electrical conductivity is about 1.01% and 1.15% respectively.
The lattice dynamics of Cr, Mo, and W are formulated in terms of a simple shell model in which the transition metal ions in the crystals are treated as deformable ions. The model involves a total of seven parameters; two charge parameters and five force constant parameters. The numerical values of the model parameters are determined by fitting to three elastic constants and the lattice vibrational frequencies measured by the neutron inelastic scattering experiments. Attempts are made to compute the phonon dispersion relations, the frequency distribution functions, and the lattice specific heats of three metals. The results are compared with experiments. It is found that the simple shell model can give a satisfactory account for the lattice vibrational characteristics of transition metals. The usefulness of the model is then discussed in comparison With other lattice dynamical models.
Genetic parameters for birth weights (BWT), calving ease scores observed from calves born by heifers (CEH), and calving ease scores observed from calves born by cows (CEC) were estimated using Bayesian methodology with Gibbs sampling in different threshold animal models. Data consisted of 77,458 records for calving ease scores and birth weights in Gelbvieh cattle. Gibbs samplers were used to obtain the parameters of interest for the categorical traits in two univariate threshold animal models, a bivariate threshold animal model, and a three-trait linear-threshold animal model. Samples of heritabilities and genetic correlations were calculated from the posterior means of dispersion parameters. In a univariate threshold animal model with CEH (model 1), the posterior means of heritabilities for calving ease was 0.35 for direct genetic effects and 0.18 for maternal genetic effects. In the other univariate threshold model with CEC (model 2), the posterior means of heritabilities of CEC was 0.28 for direct genetic effects and 0.18 for maternal genetic effects. In a bivariate threshold model with CEH and CEC (model 3), heritability estimates were similar to those in unvariate threshold models. In this model, genetic correlation between heifer calving ease and cow calving ease was 0.89 and 0.87 for direct genetic effect and maternal genetic effects, respectively. In a three-trait animal model, which contained two categorical traits (CEH and CEC) and one continuous trait (BWT) (model 4), heritability estimates of CEH and CEC for direct (maternal) genetic effects were 0.40 (0.23) and 0.23 (0.13), respectively. In this model, genetic correlation estimates between CEH and CEC were 0.89 and 0.66 for direct genetic effects and maternal effects, respectively. These estimates were greater than estimates between BWT and CEH (0.82 and 0.34) or BWT and CEC (0.85 and 0.26). This result indicates that CEH and CEC should be high correlated rather than estimates between calving ease and birth weight. Genetic correlation estimates between direct genetic effects and maternal effects were -0.29, -0.31 and 0.15 for BWT, CEH and CEC, respectively. Correlation for permanent environmental effects between BWT and CEC was -0.83 in model 4. This study can provide genetic evaluation for calving ease with other continuous traits jointly with assuming that calving ease from first calving was a same trait to calving ease from later parities calving. Further researches for reliability of dispersion parameters would be needed even if the more correlated traits would be concerned in the model, the higher reliability could be obtained, especially on threshold model with property that categorical traits have little information.

Among induced polarization (IP) methods, spectral IP (SIP) uses alternating current as a transmission source to measure amplitudes and phase of complex electrical resistivity at each source frequency, which disperse with respect to source frequencies. The frequency dependence, which can be explained by a relaxation model such as Cole-Cole model or equivalent models, is analyzed to estimate SIP parameters from dispersion curves of complex resistivity employing multi-objective optimization (MOO). The estimation uses a generic algorithm to optimize two objective functions minimizing data misfits of amplitude and phase based on Cole-Cole model, which is most widely used to explain IP relaxation effects. The MOO-based estimation properly recovered Cole-Cole model parameters for synthetic examples but hardly fitted for the real laboratory measures ones, which have relatively smaller values of phases (less than about 10 mrad). Discrepancies between scales for data misfits of amplitude and phase, used as parameters of MOO method, and it is in necessity to employ other methods such as machine learning, which can deal with the discrepancies, to estimate SIP parameters from dispersion curves of complex resistivity.

The study of model for velocity and turbulence within the urban canopy was carried out. To evaluate existing urban model we conducted wind tunnel experiment and large-eddy simulation (LES). Mean velocity profile and turbulence are measured within simple three different obstacle arrays. To obtain supplemental data and to verify morphological model large-eddy simulation was performed. Several methods have been used to achieve embodying the flow field in urban area. Recently, morphological method obtaining flow parameters from the statistical or physical representation of obstacle elements is a arising method. It was found that all morphological model, evaluated in this study, over predict the friction velocity, most sensitive one among the flow parameters. Velocity and turbulence in the urban canopy layer were improved by the correction using 'true' friction velocity.

In this papers, we proposed the new method in order to diagnosis aging state of transformers. For wavelet transform, Daubechies filter is used, we can obtain wavelet coefficients which is used to extract feature of statistical parameters (maximum value, average value, dispersion skewness, kurtosis) about each acoustic emission signal. Also, these coefficients are used to identify normal and fault signal of internal partial discharge in transformer. As improved method for classification use neural network. Extracted statistical parameters are input into an back-propagation neural network. The number of neurons of hidden layer are obtained through Result of Cross-Validation. The network, after training, can decide whether the test signal is early aging state, alst aging state or normal state. In quantity analysis, capability of proposed method is superior to compared that of classical method.
In this work, Monte Carlo simulation was used to investigate the magnetization properties of thin ferromagnetic films under a perturbation from a supplied heat pulse on one surface of the films. The finite difference method was used to extract the local temperature of each layer of the films as a function of time for various heat source power and heating period. Then, with the variation of the films temperature, Metropolis method was used to update the magnetic moment in magnetic grain, under the Ising framework and using the FePt parameters. With the extracted magnetization profiles, the relationship between magnetization relaxation in accordance with relevant heat parameters and films thickness was reported and discussed, with a purpose to form a database for future use.

This paper presents an analysis of the electromagnetic interference of a heterogeneous power bus where electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) cells are irregularly arranged. To mitigate electrical-noise coupling between high-speed circuits, the EBG structure is placed between parallel plate waveguide (PPW)-based power buses on which the noise source and victim circuits are mounted. We examine a noise suppression characteristic of the heterogeneous power bus in terms of scattering parameters. The characteristics of the dispersion and scattering parameters are compared in the sensitivity analysis of the EBG structure. Electric field distributions at significant frequencies are thoroughly examined using electromagnetic simulation based on a finite element method (FEM). The noise suppression characteristics of the heterogeneous power bus are demonstrated experimentally. The heterogeneous power bus achieves significant reduction of electrical-noise coupling compared to the homogeneous power buses that are adopted in conventional high-speed circuit design. In addition, the measurements show good agreement with the FEM simulation results.

The dissolution process of NAPLs is significantly important in predicting the transport and/or fate of the contaminants and designing remedial systems. In this research, experimental observations on dissolution of TCE pool under various hydrodynamic conditions are done using an aquifer model. Hydrodynamic parameters such as linear pore velocity and dispersion coefficient are estimated from the results of preliminary tracer tests using bromide as conservative tracer before doing the TCE dissolution experiments. It is found that hydrodynamic parameters are distinctly affected by the clay lens imbeded in the aquifer model. Nonequilibrium and transient dissolution rates are observed from the results of TCE dissolution experiments.
