  • The application field of porous mold is more and more expended. A mixture of alumina and cast iron is used for making porous mold using slip and vacuum casting method in this study. Slip casting is a process that slurry is poured into silicon rubber mold, dried in vacuum oven, debinded and sintered in furnace, In this procedure, slurry is composed of powder, binder, dispersion agent, and water. Vacuum casting is a technique for removing air bubbles existed in the slurry under vacuum condition. Since ceramics has a tendency of over-shrinkage after sintering, cast iron is used to compensate dimensional change. The results shows that sintering temperature has a great effect on characteristics of alumina-cast iron composite sintered parts. Finally ceramic-metal composite sintered mold can be used for aluminum alloy casting of shoe mold using this process.

  • The volatile organic compounds exposure is governed by the source distance and dispersion of the pollutant into air and groundwater. The purpose of this study was to validate suggested models for the prediction of concentration distributions. The study design was organized into different methods to simulate industry site. The distribution models generally showed a fair agreement with measured data. For graphical representation of concentration of volatile hydrocarbon, it has to obtain a continuous representation of the contamination of the site. Therefore, the used interpolative methods examined for this project are the IDW(inverse Distance Weighting) and kriging method. In the results, in summary, all two different methods can be used to quantify exposures at a particular source area, and thus provide, a solid foundation for making risk-based decisions. All the calculations can be performed using Excel's built-in functions, and the capabilities of geospatial analysis allow the results to be displayed visually. However, anyone who uses these methods should understand all of the assumptions and limitation.

  • We report a simple way of fabricating high-quality carbon nanoscrolls (CNSs) by taking advantage of strain relief due to large difference in strain at the interface of graphene and underlying layer. This method allows strain-controlled self rolling-up of monolayer graphene during etching process at predefined positions on SiO2/Si substrates by photolithography. The size and the length of the CNSs can be easily controlled by adjusting the thickness of the underlying layer and by pre-patterning. Raman spectroscopy studies show that the CNSs is free of significant defects, and the electronic structure and phonon dispersion are slightly different from those of two-dimensional graphene. The preparation of high-quality CNSs may open up new opportunities for both fundamental and applied research of CNSs.

  • Several fabrication processes, corresponding nanostructural features and multifunctionality as well has been investigated for oxide ceramic based nanocomposites with metal nanodispersion (i.e., ceramic/metal nanocomposites). Transition metal (Ni, Co, etc) dispersed alumina and zirconia based nanocomposites have been synthesized by reducing and hot-press sintering of ceramic and metal oxide mixtures prepared by several method. Improved fracture strength (1.1 and 1.9 GPa for $Al_2O_3/Ni$ and $ZrO_2/Ni$ nanocomposites, respectively) of these composites have been achieved according to their nanostructures. In addition, ferromagnetic characteristic has been kept. The variation of magnetization with an applied stress has found to be more sensitive as smaller as the magnetic metal dispersion is. This result thus suggests the possibility of fracture and/or stress sensing of the composites by simple magnetic measurement.

  • The ground anchoring has been utilized over 40 years. It is growing the application of the removal ground anchor with tension force for holding earth retaining constructions in the city. It transmits tension stress of prestressed steel wire through grouting to fixed the ground that is of great advantage adjacent ground stability. Nowadays, we can find the compression dispersion anchor on many site. But, it has some problems in behavior of anchors because of impossible to tense p.c strand uniformly under the existing equipment due to different length of p c strand. Hence, motive of this research was to study the application of the newly developed tension system, that analyze and compare with the current anchoring method build on the data of in-site test and laboratory test. As a result, in case of auto back tension system, it became clear that tension pressure was equally distributed among the steal wires but the existing tension system showed sign of instability by indicating stress deflection of about 30% compare with design load. This can cause an ultimate failure of the concentrated p.c strand and a shear failure of ground.

  • The two methods for the derivation of helium abundance are presented. The magnitude of the largest bump along the red giant branch is fainter as helium abundance decreases and metal abundance increases. Using this relation and observed bump magnitude, the He-abundances of globular clusters are estimated. The another method is to use the relation that the ratio of asymptotic giant branch and horizontal branch stars increases with decreasing He-abundance. The comparison of the He-abundances derived from the two methods with those derived from the other two methods shows that they are consistent within the dispersion less than ${\Delta}Y=0.1$.

  • A limitation of oxide cathode is the high current density, caused by low electrical conductivity of an emitter layer. This limitation can be overcome by increasing the conductivity, and uniform dispersion of Ni powder and pore agent could be achieved by using the screen-printing method. This new cathode has shown not only high current density reliability but also improved performance characteristics and as such given the name "Multi-Function cathode". It is expected to be a good replacement of the impregnated cathode.

  • A method to test thin-walled tubes by guided ultrasonic wave is reported. The principle is that applicate two types of axially symmetric ultrasonic tube modes and "longitudinal" modes with particle displacement, which is coupled in axial and radial directions for transverse failures and torsional modes, oscillating in the circumferential direction only, for longitudinal failures. Both types of modes propagate along the tube in the axial direction. Therefore, a pulse-echo technique is possible. The pulses are excited and received at one end of the tube without contact electro-dynamic transducers. As soon as the tubes is put into a transducer coil at one end, the test of the whole tube can be accomplished in a few milliseconds. It is not necessary to rotate and transport the tubes during the test.

  • In this paper, we performed theoretical computer calculation for ion-exchange embedded channel waveguide using Field Shadow Method. Using the parameters of ${\Delta}n=0.09$, 0.009, $w=8{\mu}m$. d=8.854, $8.189{\mu}m$ we decided the waveguide characteristics. The dispersion curves showed the optimal fabrication conditions of the waveguides. We observed each of the 3-D field distributions in the various waveguides.

  • The Powder characteristics and sintering behavior of $SiO_2$ coated $BaTiO_3$ were studied. Silica coated $BaTiO_3$ powders were prepared by sol-gel method. The particle size of the $BaTiO_3$ powders were $\sim35$ nm and the thickness of the $SiO_2$ coating layer was $\sim5$ nm. As the $SiO_2$ content increased, the $SiO_2$ layers improved the powder dispersion. The Zeta potential of $SiO_2$ coated $BaTiO_3$ was getting close to that of pure silica with a more negative charge, compared with that of the uncoated $BaTiO_3$. The onset temperature of shrinkage curves shifted to higher temperatures with increasing $SiO_2$ contents
