Purpose: This study aims to better understand the quality of life (QOL) for Korean breast and gynecological cancer survivors by examining the differences in multi-dimensional QOL outcomes according to stage of cancer survivorship. Methods: To identify the multiple dimensions of health status and psychosocial outcomes, three standardized QOL and psychological distress measures were administered to 110 Korean breast and gynecological cancer survivors. These participants were divided into three groups based on the stage of cancer survivorship. Results: Analyses of covariance revealed that once important confounders were controlled for, QOL outcomes were partially different depending on the stage of cancer survivorship. Results for SF-36 measure showed significant differences between acute and long-term survival stages, indicating that QOL for cancer survivors had gradually improved in the physical domain. However, there were no significant group differences in the psychological domain of SF-36. Additionally, QOL-CS and BSI-18 measures did not show significant QOL differences according to the stage of cancer survivorship. Conclusions: Evidence that, for Korean survivors, QOL outcomes differ according to the stage of cancer survivorship serves as a rationale for developing discriminatory strategies and interventions that take into account survival stage.
Recently, the socio-economic interest in Large Language Models (LLMs) has been growing due to the emergence of ChatGPT. As a type of generative AI, LLMs have reached the level of script creation. In this regard, it is important to address the issue of discrimination (sexism, racism, religious discrimination, ageism, etc.) in the performing arts in general or in specific performing arts works or organizations in a large language model that will be widely used by the general public and professionals. However, there has not yet been a full-scale investigation and discussion on the issue of discrimination in the performing arts in large-scale language models. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to textually analyze the perceptions of discrimination issues in the performing arts from LMMs and to derive implications for the performing arts field and the development of LMMs. First, BBQ (Bias Benchmark for QA) questions and measures for nine discrimination issues were used to measure the sensitivity to discrimination of the giant language models, and the answers derived from the representative giant language models were verified by performing arts experts to see if there were any parts of the giant language models' misperceptions, and then the giant language models' perceptions of the ethics of discriminatory views in the performing arts field were analyzed through the content analysis method. As a result of the analysis, implications for the performing arts field and points to be noted in the development of large-scale linguistic models were derived and discussed.
Assuming a mixture distribution for credit evaluation studies, we discuss estimating threshold methods to minimize errors that default borrowers are predicted as non defaults or non defaults are regarded as defaults. A method by using statistical hypotheses tests, the most powerful test and generalized likelihood ratio test,
for the probability density functions which are defined with the score random variable and the parameter space consisted of only two elements such as the default and non default states is proposed to estimate a threshold. And anther optimal thresholds to maximize classification accuracy measures of the accuracy and the true rate for ROC and CAP curves are estimated as equations related with these probability density functions. Three kinds of optimal thresholds in terms of the hypotheses testing, the accuracy and the true rate are obtained from normal random samples with various means and variances. The sums of the type I and type II errors corresponding to each optimal threshold are obtained and compared. Finally we discuss about their efficiency and derive conclusions.
As globalization of communication is going on and as the media have become increasingly central to the world economy, media policy matters have become the province of world economic organizations like the IMF and the WTO. The WTO service negotiation is focused primarily on the discriminatory and quantitative barriers associated with the trade of audiovisual services. Domestic measures such as subsidization, content regulation including quotas, and licensing requirements and restrictions on foreign ownership and control are at issues here. These measures have been successfully implemented by countries wishing to withstand competition from the American audiovisual industry. The debate about trade in audiovisual services is permeated by the unstated assumption that these programs are pure commodities whose production, distribution, exhibition and in turn, values are solely determined by the market forces. It is therefore presumed that liberalization of trade in audiovisual services will benefit all, serving cultural pluralism and diversity as well as economic efficiency. However, this assumption is not shared by developing countries, the recipients of U.S. television material. They argue audiovisual sector requires a social and cultural approach, since it plays a key role in the preservation of people's identity and social bonds. They claim that it is the each state's right to define its media policy and to implement it through the means it considers fit. These clashing views over the nature of the audiovisual material and the ways in which protect cultural pluralism and diversity do not confine to be the realm of theoretical debate. Each state's interest and motivation to protect its local industry and to have a competitive advantage in the international market is working in this battle. Consolidation with the countries like Australia, Canada, and EU nations, in favour of cultural exemption, seems to be the best policy for us. However, we are not entirely free from the WTO pressures, considering relation to the U. S. This study analyzes Korean Broadcasting Law compared with those of other OECD countries and tries to propose some strategical guidelines facing WTO service negotiation in the area of broadcasting.
Although climate change is a global scale question, some concerns have been raised that principles of investment arbitration may not adequately address the domestic implementation of climate change measures. A recent ICSID investment arbitration of Vattenfall v. Germany with regard to the investor's alleged damages from the phase-out of nuclear plants is a salient climate change case. The 2005 Kyoto Protocol was made to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and it provides a number of flexible mechanisms such as Joint Implementation (JI) and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Implementation of the Kyoto Protocol allows dispute settlement through investor-state arbitration. Any initiation of stricter emission standards can violate the prohibition on expropriations in investment agreements, regardless of the measures created to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The effect-based expropriation doctrine can charge changes to existing emission standards as interference with the use of property that goes against the legitimate expectation of a foreign investor. In regulatory chill, threat of investor claims against the host state may preclude the strengthening of climate change measures. Stabilization clauses also have a freezing effect on the hosting state's regulation and a new law applicable to the investment. In the fair and equitable standard, basic expectations of investors when entering into earlier carbon-intensive operations can be affected by a regulation seeking to change into a low-carbon approach. As seen in the Methanex tribunal, a non-discriminatory and public purpose of environmental protection measures should be considered as non-expropriation in the arbitral tribunal unless its decision would intentionally impede a foreign investor's investment.
Severe congenital heart disease (CHD) is a chronic disease requiring continuous and holistic health management to improve patients' quality of life. This study explored the health management experiences of adolescents with severe CHDs in Korea. On the basis of in-depth interviews with nine youths, four categories and 12 subcategories were identified. The participants lacked a full understanding of their health status and the need for appropriate health management for their health status. Nonetheless, they practiced health management to some extent, in ways that were affected by heart function, self-identity, and social support. Although adolescents with severe CHDs were affected by physical limitations and the discriminatory gaze around them, they tried to achieve normalcy through managing information, seeking homogeneity with peers, and fostering positive acceptance about their disease. Regarding demands for health management programs, disease knowledge and mental health content were preferred, and the preferred delivery methods were self-help group camps and smartphone applications. Based on the results of this study, we suggest a health management intervention to promote a healthy transition to adulthood for adolescents with severe CHDs, and that policy-makers should consider measures that would enable a successful transition to adulthood in the future of youth with severe CHDs.
This study explored keywords and key topics by collecting posts related to 'self-Iinjury' and 'suicide' through Twitter. The study subjects were selected as posts containing related hashtags related to self-injury and suicide from October 29, 2019 to November 30, 2020. Text mining based on collected posts resulted in a total of 11 key topics: -6 related to 'self-Iinjury' and 5 related to 'suicide'. The main message in the topic is as follows. First, looking at the main messages contained in the topic, they honestly expressed self-harm and suicide experiences that are difficult to express offline online, and used SNS as a channelpath for requesting help requests. Second, there were common and discriminatory characteristics in posts related to 'self-Iinjury' and 'suicide'. Although topics related to 'self-Iinjury' mainly revealed emotional control and interpersonal functions of self-harm, messages related to 'suicide' showed more clearly messages about suicide prevention addressing and social problems. These results are meaningful in that they can understand the opinions of people who have experienced self-harm and suicide accidents and the public voice on self-harm and suicide-related issues could be better understood, and that this study seeks for effective self-harm and suicide prevention and intervention measures for self-harm and suicide issues.
