A current standard exist only on the surface tension in the current domestic wetting agent technology standards, so it is difficult to the performance evaluation of the wetting agent through the standard. So this study presents the optimized performance evaluation methods by scale model experimental equipment in order to present techniques for performance evaluation of wetting agents. The purpose of this study is to investigate validity of experimental results of the self-designed scale model experiment equipment by a comparative analysis of experimental results of the NFPA 18 experiment and the experiment using the self-designed scale model experiment equipment. As a result of a comparative analysis of experimental results of the NFPA 18 experiment that evaluate only the permeation performance on the contton and the experiment using the self-designed scale model experiment equipment that evaluate the permeation performance and fire extinguishing performance on wood flour, the discrimination of the permeation performance was confirmed in both the NFPA 18 experiment and the self-designed scale model experiment equipment. And a result of self-designed experiment equipment have clear discriminatory more than NFPA 18 by internal temperature measurement using the thermocouples.
In this paper, we have represented the efficient way how to enumerate the optimal number-right scores to adjust the item difficulty and to improve item discrimination. To estimate the optimal number-right scores in two equivalent math-tests by linear score equating a measurement error model was applied to the true scores observed from a pair of equivalent math-tests assumed to measure same trait. The model specification for true scores which is represented by the bivariate model is a simple regression model to inference the optimal number-right scores and we assume again that the two simple regression lines of raw scores and true scores are independent each other in their error models. We enumerated the difference between mean value of $\chi$* and ${\mu}$$\_$$\chi$/ and the difference between the mean value of y*and a+b${\mu}$$\_$$\chi$/ by making an inference the estimates from 2 error variable regression model. Furthermore, so as to distinguish from the original score points, the estimated number-right scores y’$\^$*/ as the estimated regression values of true scores with the same coordinate were moved to center points that were composed of such difference values with result of such parallel score moving procedure as above mentioned. We got the asymptotically normal distribution in Figure 5 that was represented as the optimal distribution of the optimal number-right scores so that we could decide the optimal proportion of number-right score in each item. Also by assumption that equivalence of two tests is closely connected to unidimensionality of a student’s ability. we introduce new definition of trait score to evaluate such ability in each item. In this study there are much limitations in getting the real true scores and in analyzing data of the bivariate error model. However, even with these limitations we believe that this study indicates that the estimation of optimal number right scores by using this enumeration procedure could be easily achieved.

In spite of many studies on statistical model for pattern identifications (PIs), little attention has been paid to the complexity of pattern diagnosis processed by oriental physicians. The aim of this study is to develop a statistical diagnostic model which discriminates four PIs using multiple indicators in stroke. Clinical data were collected from 981 stroke patients and 516 data of which PIs were agreed by two independent physicians were included. Discriminant analysis was carried out using clinical indicators such as symptoms and signs which referred to pattern diagnosis, and applied to validation samples which contained all symptoms and signs manifested. Four Fischer's linear discriminant models were derived and their accuracy and prediction rates were 93.2% and 80.43%, respectively. It is important to consider the pattern diagnosis processed by oriental physicians in developing statistical model for PIs. The discriminant model developed in this study using multiple indicators is valid, and can be used in the clinical fields.
In this paper, we propose an EEG-based mental state prediction method during a mental tasks. In the experimental task, a subject goes through the process of responding to visual stimulus, understanding the given problem, controlling hand motions, and hitting a key. Considering the subject's varying brain activities, we model subjects' mental states with defining selection time. EEG signals from four subjects were recorded while they performed three mental tasks. Feature vectors defined by these representations were classified with a standard, feed-forward neural network trained via the error back-propagation algorithm. We expect that the proposed detection method can be a basic technology for brain-computer interface by combining with left/right hand movement or cognitive decision discrimination methods.

The thiohydantoin derivative derived from amino acid was used for the stepwise sequence analysis of peptide or protein from the carboxyl termini. Recently, SUZUKI reported the mass spectrometric identification about a part of these compounds. In this paper, was described the mass spectrometric identification of thiohydantoins derived from 20 amino acids. Mass spectra were obtained with a mass spectrometer, JEOL model JMS-06H and samples were introduced with a direct inlet probe. The molecular ion peaks and fragment ion peaks were identified easily, because these peaks appeared differently every amino acids and specially, it was easy discrimination between leucine and isoleucine. It is suggested that mass spectrometry was one of the useful methods to identify thiohydantoins derived from amino acids.
Forest biomass is the basis of forest ecosystem. With the rapid development of remote sensing and computer technology, forest biomass estimation using remote sensing data is paid great attention and has acquired great achievements. This article focuses on discussion of methods of forest biomass estimation methods using Terra/MODIS data in Northeast China. The research include: combining the MODIS time series parameters with seasonal characteristics of forest species to identify major forest species; establishing a model to estimate forest biomass based on forest species; analyzing the effects of the existent forest biomass and increasing biomass on terrestrial carbon cycle. This research can help to make clear the mechanism of carbon cycle.
The unique Br signature was utilized for C-terminal amino acid sequencing of model peptides. C-terminal carboxyl group was selectively derivatized in peptides, containing side chain carboxyl group, using 1-ethyl-3-[3-dimethylaminopropyl]carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC) and Br was introduced using 4-bromophenylhydrazine hydrochloride (BPH) in a one pot reaction. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) time-of-flight (TOF) tandem mass spectra were obtained carrying the Br signature in the y-series ions. The Br signature facilitated C-terminal sequencing and discrimination of C-terminal carboxyl groups in the free acid and amide forms.
The present study describes a combination method to recognize the human affective states such as anger, happiness, sadness, or surprise. For this, we extracted emotional features from voice signals and facial expressions, and then trained them to recognize emotional states using hidden Markov model (HMM) and neural network (NN). For voices, we used prosodic parameters such as pitch signals, energy, and their derivatives, which were then trained by HMM for recognition. For facial expressions, on the other hands, we used feature parameters extracted from thermal and visible images, and these feature parameters were then trained by NN for recognition. The recognition rates for the combined parameters obtained from voice and facial expressions showed better performance than any of two isolated sets of parameters. The simulation results were also compared with human questionnaire results.
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are one of the critical components in host innate immune responses to imbalanced and invading microbial pathogens. Although the antimicrobial activity and mechanism of action have been thoroughly investigated for decades, the exact biological properties of AMPs are still elusive. Most AMPs generally exert the antimicrobial effect by targeting the microbial membrane, such as barrel stave, toroidal, and carpet mechanisms. Thus, the mode of action in model membranes and the discrimination of AMPs to discrepant lipid compositions between mammalian cells and microbial pathogens (cell selectivity) have been studied intensively. However, the latest reports suggest that not only AMPs recently isolated but also well-known membrane-disruptive AMPs play a role in intracellular killing, such as apoptosis induction. In this mini-review, we will review some representative AMPs and their antimicrobial mechanisms and provide new insights into the dual mechanism of AMPs.
