The electrochemical performance of Li-S cells was investigated in various ternary electrolyte solutions composed of 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME), tetra(ethylene glycol) dimethyl ether (TGM), and 1,3-dioxolane (DOX). The discharge capacity values and cycle data obtained at each composition were statistically treated with the Minitab program to obtain mixture contour plots, from which the optimal composition of the ternary solvent systems was predicted. The discharge capacities and capacity retention were quite dependent on the electrolyte composition. It was estimated from the contour plots of the capacity at 1.0 C that the discharge capacity sharply increased with a decrease in the TGM content. High capacities greater than 900 mAh/g at 1.0 C were expected for the electrolyte composition with a volume ratio of DME/TGM/DOX = 1/0/1. In contrast, it was predicted from the mixture contour plot of the capacity retention that the cycle performance would significantly increase with an increase in the DME content.
Thermal batteries are used in military power sources that require robustness and long storage life for applications in missiles and torpedoes. $FeS_2$ powder is currently used as a cathode material because of its high specific energy density, environmental non-toxicity, and low cost. $MS_2$ (M = Fe, Ni, Co) cathodes have been explored as novel candidates for thermal batteries in many studies; however, the discharge characteristics (1, 2, 3 plateau) of single cells in thermal batteries with different cathodes have not been elucidated in detail. In this study, we independently analyzed the discharge voltage and calculated the total polarizations of single cells using $MS_2$ cathodes. Based on the results of this study, we propose $NiS_2$ as a potential cathode material for use in thermal batteries.
Nickel-hydrogen battery systems with metal hydride alloys are expected to have both higher energy density and lower pollution than nickel-cadmium cells. Nickel-hydrogen storage cells are expected to be well-suited for use in space crafts for a large capacity power storage system. Their major advantages are not only a capability of deep DOD(depth of discharge) using but also with excellent durability under excessive overcharging and overdischarging. In this study, the charge/discharge capacities, anodic polarization characteristics and durability for the continious charge/diacharge cycling of the $Ti_{1-X}Zr_XVNi$ and $Ti_{1-X}Zr_XV_{0.5}Ni_{1.5}$ alloys were measured by electrochemical method. The electrode properties of the copper or nickel plated $Ti_{1-X}Zr_XV_{0.5}Ni_{1.5}$ alloys were examined with a battery charge/discharge testing system in the temperature range of -5 to $25^{\circ}C$.
Spinel $LiMn_2O_4$ and $LiMn_{1.9}Mg_{0.05}Zn_{0.05}O_4$ powders were synthesized by solid-state method at $800^{\circ}C$ for 36h. Crystal structure and electrochemical properties were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, charge-discharge test, cyclic voltammetry and ac impedance to $LiMn_2O_4$ and $LiMn_{1.9}Mg_{0.05}Zn_{0.05}O_4/Li$. All cathode material showed spinel structure in X-ray diffraction. $LiMn_{1.9}Mg_{0.05}Zn_{0.05}O_4/Li$ cell substituted $Mg^{2+}$ and $Zn^{2+}$ showed excellent discharge capacities than other cells, which it presented about 120mAh/g at the 1st cycle and about 73mAh/g at the 250th cycle, respectively. AC impedance of $LiMn_{1.9}Mg_{0.05}Zn_{0.05}O_4/Li$ cells showed the similar resistance of about $65{\sim}110{\Omega}$ before cycling.
Unstable sustain discharges can occur at the bottom cells of the panel at high temperature. To solve this problem, the wall charge variation during an address period was investigated. A test panel of 7.5 inch XGA level was used and one green cell was measured. In order to realize operating condition equal to that of the bottom cells of 50 inch panel, the addressing stress pulses are applied. It seems that the resultant wall charge loss during address period increased with increase of stress time, temperature, pressure and Xe %. Wall charge loss increases with potential difference between scan electrode and address electrode, therefore wall charge loss can be minimized by the increase of scan voltage during address period.
Mo-doped $LiFePO_4$ was synthesized via co-precipitation method using sucrose as the carbon source. Structure, surface morphology, and the electrochemical properties of the synthesized olivine compounds were investigated using Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction data (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electrochemical charge-ischarge tests. Spherical morphology with the particle size of ${\sim}8{\mu}m$ authenticated the enhanced tap density and volumetric energy density of the synthesized materials. Charge-discharge behavior of $LiFePO_4$ and Mo-doped $LiFePO_4$ cells demonstrated a specific capacity of 130 and 145 mAh $g^{-1}$, respectively. Mo-doped $LiFePO_4$ cells exhibited an excellent discharge capacity at 96 mAh $g^{-1}$ at 7 C-rate.
In this work, polymerization conditions of the gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) were studied to obtain better electrochemical performances in a lithium-ion polymer battery. When the polymerization temperature and time of the GPE were 70$^{\circ}C$ and 70 min, respectively, the lithium polymer battery showed excellent a rate capability and cycleability. The TMPETA (trimethylolpropane ethoxylate triacrylate)/TEGDMA (triethylene glycol dimethacrylate)-based cells prepared under optimized polymerization conditions showed excellent rate capability and low-temperature performances: The discharge capacity of cells at 2 Crate showed 92.1 % against 0.2C rate. The cell at -20 $^{\circ}C$ also delivered 82.4 % of the discharge capacity at room temperature.

Dual auxiliary pulses are adopted in an AC PDP with an auxiliary electrode. The secondary auxiliary pulse of dual auxiliary pulses efficiently utilizes priming particles and contributes to improved luminous efficacy. A shorter time interval between the two auxiliary pulses resulted in better efficacy. The maximum luminous efficacy was approximately 12 lm/W according to measurement of the discharge in a Ne+20%Xe gas-mixture and green cells.
To lower the fabrication cost of silicon solar cells, a surface treatment using a dielectric barrier discharge instead of a wet cleaning technique was examined on electrode surfaces on silicon solar cells. The fill factor obtained through measuring current-voltage characteristics was evaluated, and the treated surface state was characterized by energy-dispersive X-ray. It was found that the dielectric barrier discharge effectively activated the electrode surface and the surface treatment on finger electrodes contributed greatly to improve the fill factor.
In this paper, the penning effect was studded to control accelerating of the ionization that means Increasing of cross-sectional collision through penning reactions in the plasma cells of Hg-Ar-Ne (x: 10-x, 60Torr) gas discharge under various concentrations of Ar.
