Prediction and measurement of propagation path loss in indoor microcellular environments (실내 마이크로셀 환경에서 전파 경로손실의 예측과 측정)

  • A prediction model is proposed to describe the path loss in propagation environment of indoor microcell. This model includes the lineal corridor for line--of-sight(LOS) and T-shaped corridor for non-line-of-sight(NLOS). In computation of receiving power the ray tracing technique based on image method is utilized and also reflected waves bounced on the walls and ceilings are considered. To check validity of the computed resuls cross checks between the predicted and measured are being made, which shows a close agreement for LOS case whereas somewhat disagreement for NLOS case. UTD technique is incorporated with propagation path determination algorithm in the treatment of NLOS case.

Creep Mechanisms of Calcium-Silicate-Hydrate: An Overview of Recent Advances and Challenges

  • A critical review on existing creep theories in calcium-silicate-hydrate (C-S-H) is presented with an emphasis on several fundamental questions (e.g. the roles of water, relative humidity, temperature, atomic ordering of C-S-H). A consensus on the rearrangement of nanostructures of C-S-H as a main consequence of creep, has almost been achieved. However, main disagreement still exists on two basic aspects regarding creep mechanisms: (1) at which site the creep occurs, like at interlayer, intergranular, or regions where C-S-H has a relatively higher solubility; (2) how the structural rearrangement evolutes, like in a manner of interlayer sliding, intra-transfer of water at various scales, recrystallization of gelled-like particles, or dissolution-diffusion-reprecipitation at inter-particle boundary. The further understanding of creep behavior of C-S-H relies heavily on the appropriate characterization of its nanostructure.

  • This paper is aimed at comparing the attitudes of parents and the psycho-sociogenic aspects of the children of Korean and Japan. The data for the analysis were derived from questionnaires administered to the 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade children in Korean and Japan. The questionnaires were designed to survey children's perception of their parents'child-rearing and the psycho-sociogenic aspects of the children's personality in Korea and Japan. The child-parent relationships identified by the children were measured by the items indicating the degree and the extent to which they felt their parents' dissatisfaction, complaints, strictness, expectation, interference, worry, indulgence, blind obedience, contradiction and disagreement. The psycho-sociogenic aspects of the children's personalities were measured by the items indicating the degree and extent of how they felt about their own sociablility, independence, aggressiveness, extent of how they felt about their own sociability, independencem aggressiveness, participation in groups. Spontaneity, self-control and public spirit.

  • Precise and accurate pressure measurements are obtained using deadweight piston gauges. Pressure distribution and elastic distortion in the piston-cylinder unit are the leading factors in determination of effective area. The distortion depends upon the pressure distribution in the clearance between piston and cylinder and those are coupled each other. Considering the viscosity pressure relation of oil and governing flow equation in the clearance, a new numerical iterative algorithm is developed. The disagreement between the monotonous and sharp pressure profiles is an indication that the pressure profile will be different for each piston and cylinder unit due to material variances.

  • The present study investigated the effect of the transversal vibration on the flow characteristics for non-Newtonian fluids. The effect was tested by experiment and numerical analysis. For Newtonian fluids, both of experiment and numerical analysis results showed that mechanical vibration did not affect the flow rate. For non-Newtonian fluids, however, there was significant disagreement between experiment and numerical results. The numerical results showed a negligibly small effect of vibration on the flow rate whereas experimental results showed a significant flow rate increase associated with transversal vibration. The results implied that the increased flow rate was caused not only by imposed shear rates at the wall but also by the changes of rheological characteristics due to the transversal vibration.

Common and Domain-Specific Cognitive Characteristics of Gifted Students: A Hierarchical Structural Model of Human Abilities

  • The purpose of this study was to identify common and domain-specific cognitive characteristics of gifted students based on a hierarchical structural model of human abilities. This study is based on the premise that abilities identified by tests can appear as observable characteristics in test or school situations. Abilities proposed by major models of intelligence were reviewed in terms of their power to explain cognitive characteristics of gifted students. However, due to the lack of their explanatory power and disagreement on common and domain-specific cognitive abilities, a new hierarchical structural model was conceptualized in a unique way based on interrelationships between abilities proposed by the models. The newly established model hypothesizes a cognitive mechanism that accounts for how domain-specific knowledge is formed, as well as which abilities are common and domain-specific, how they are related functionally, and how they account for common and domain-specific cognitive characteristics of gifted students. The cognitive mechanism has important implications for our understanding of the chronically controversial concepts, 'intelligence' and 'knowledge.' Clearer definitions of what intelligence is (g or multiple), what knowledge is, and how knowledge develops ('genetic or environmental,' 'rationalistic or empiricist') may result from this model.

  • In order to analyze the discharge-pumped KrF excimer laser, computer simulation code is developed. On the other hand, the electron velocity distribution in a discharge plasma, measured by the Thomson scattering method, showed the Maxwellian, while the code predicted non-Maxwellian. This disagreement was solved by introducing the electron-electron collision into the simulation code. We also developed a simulation code on the CO2 laser-heated plasma in high-pressure Ar gas, and estimated the formation process of Ar2 excimer. The code predicted the possibility of the Ar2 laser action at 126 nm.

- A Study on the Conflict Expression Behaviors of Steady Dating Among the College Students - (특속적인 이성교제에서의 갈등표출행동 - 대학생을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the conflict expression behaviors of the steady dating among the college students. The major findings were as follows: 1. When students had a conflict or disagreement with the partner, they who took only the Moderate Behavior were 5.5%, the Impolite Behavior were 26.7%, the Aggressive Behavior were 36.0%, and the Violent Behavior were 24.7%. 2. The conflict expression behaviors were associated with experiencing parental marital violence and attitude toward violence. 3. The violent Behavior occurred somewhat in the intimate relationships and was defined“expressing love”or“contingent mistake”among the dating partners. Thus after conflict incidence, most of the dating relationships were continued.

Sea Level Response in the Korea Strait to Typhoons

  • A shallow water numerical model is established to investigate the response of coastal water in the Korea Strait to typhoons that pass nearby the Korea Strait. Atmospheric pressure and wind by Fujita's formula (1952) and Miyazaki et al. (1961), respectively are used in the model. The model results show an agreement fair with the observation partially, but poor with the amplitude of the sea level variation. In particular, the discrepancy is larger in a typhoon passing through right side than that through left side of the Korea Strait. The model showes that the disagreement between the model and the observation can be caused by numerically unrealistic distributions of armospheric pressure and wind around the strait. In the Korea Strait the isostatic effects in the model were underestimated, whereas the wind fields were overestimated.

  • Dissociative amnesia is caused by psychologic disagreement except organic brain disorder, intoxication, severe fatigue and occurred by not recalling saved information. Recently we experienced a 19 year-old woman who had a sudden onset of dissociative amnesia and whose condition was improved through Oriental medical treatment. This case study illustrates what the manifestations of dissociative amnesia is and how dissociative amnesia symptomatology emerged.
