Design of Directional Diploe Antenna for MMDS (MMDS용 지향성 다이폴 안테나의 설계)

  • This paper explains about the design, fabrication, and measurement of directional dipole antenna for MMDS. The proposed dipole antenna is an electric wave guide with a director at $\lambda/4$ distance and is also designed to have directivity. The high gain antenna is realized by using a reflector at $45^{\circ}degree$. The fabricated antenna shows the return loss of -35dB at the center frequency 2.06GHz and also has the bandwidth of about 310MHz (>15%) under the condition of VSWR<2. The gain of dipole antennas is 11.5dBi.

A Study on Antenna of Low-Probability of Intercept for LOS Datalink System (가시선 데이터링크용 저피탐 안테나에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, an array antenna for LOS datalink for mounting UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) of low-probability of intercept is presented. For low RCS, radome was designed by conformal form, and other components were inserted into the UAV. The antenna of the transmitter and receiver are each composed of 12×12 array antennas, and include a beam steering function by controlling the phase of the unit element for the Uni-directional pattern and the Bi-directional pattern. As a result of the measurement of the manufactured antenna, it was confirmed that all the required specifications were met, and the installing possibility of the UAV platform on low-probability of intercept in the future was confirmed.

  • 기존의 무선 센서 네트워크에서는 센서 노드는 하나의 전방향성 안테나와 하나의 무선 채널을 공유하여 데이터를 전송하므로 과다한 채널 경쟁과 센서 노드간의 데이터 충돌로 데이터 재전송이 자주 발생하여 불필요한 에너지의 소비가 많고, 소스 노드와 목적지 노드의 데이터 전송시 RTS(Request To Send)와 CTS(Clear To Send) 패킷을 사용하여 전파 전송 범위 전체에 대해 채널 예약을 하므로 공간의 활용도가 낮은 편이다. 본 논문에서는 전방향성 안테나의 문제점 및 단점을 보완하기 위한 방법으로 지향성 안테나를 사용하기 위한 SRDMAC(Spatial Reuse Directional MAC) 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안된 프로토콜은 센서 노드 간의 데이터 전송시 충돌을 방지하여 데이터 재전송에 소모되는 에너지와 목적지 노드가 위치한 영역 일부분에만 데이터를 전송함으로 에너지 소모량을 줄일 수 있으며, 목적지 노드가 위치한 영역을 제외한 다른 영역의 이웃 노드와의 데이터 전송이 가능하므로 공간 재 사용율을 최대한 증가시킬 수 있다.

Design and Implementation of 2.4/5 GHz Dual-Band Plate Type Antenna for Access Point of Wireless LAN (2.4/5 GHz 무선 LAN 액세스 포민트용 이중 공진 판형 안테나 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, we present a small-sized and light weighted dual-band antenna for an access point of 2.4/5 GHz dual-band WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network). The antenna for WLAN should show the characteristic of omni-directional radiation pattern. First, to obtain the omni-directional radiation pattern the proposed dual-band antenna has an orthogonal inverted triangular type element at the center and locates four resonating elements symmetrically around it. Also, for the purpose of easy manufacturing and miniaturization of the antenna, we changed the central element which had the orthogonal inverted triangular type structure into the plate type. Measured $S_{11}$ for the proposed dual-band plate type antenna showed characteristic which was less then -12.8 dB for WLAN frequency bands. Measured results for the maximum gain showed 3.17 dBi at 2.44 GHz, 5.38 dBi at 5.77 GHz with omni-directional radiation pattern. The implemented antennas showed applicable performances for the access point of WLAN.

  • Network Centric Warfare(NCW) is becoming a prominent concept in the current trend of warfare. To support high quality communication between strategic/tactical units in the concept of NCW, Tactical Airborne Networks are likely to be constructed in the near future to take part in the NCW. In these Tactical Airborne Networks with dynamic topology variations due to very high mobility of participants nodes, more efficient and reliable neighbor discovery protocols are needed. This paper presents the adaptive HELLO message scheduling algorithm for Tactical Airborne Network using directional antennas. The purposed algorithm can reduce the overhead of periodic HELLO message transfer, while guaranteeing successful data transmission. We concluded a mathematical analysis and simulation studies using Qualnet 4.5 for evaluation the performance and efficiency of the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, we propose the structures of the NBTC (Narrow-Beam Trisector Cell) and the WBTC(Wide-Beam Trisector Cell) in which directional antennas both at the base station and at the relay station are used. We analyze and compare total capacity of the both systems taking the co-channel interference into consideration for two channel models. Through analysis, we find the effect of LOS (Lind of Sight) path to the total capacity of NBTC structure and that of WBTC structure. Our work may be useful as a guideline to control the interference for the next generation mobile communication and WiBro systems using multi-hop relays.

  • 본 논문에서는 방향성 안테나를 사용하는 이동 노드들로 구성된 애드 혹 네트워크에서의 새로운 매체 접근 제어 프로토콜을 제안한다. 고려된 네트워크에서는 단일 채널이 사용되며, 각각의 노드는 하나의 트랜시버와 m개의 방향성 안테나를 사용하며 특정 안테나를 필요시 on/off할 수 있다고 가정한다. 제안된 프로토콜은 은닉 단말기 문제를 해결하여 서로 다른 노드로부터 동일 노드로 전송되는 사용자 데이터 프레임의 충돌을 방지하는 한편, 노출 단말기 문제를 해결하여 이웃한 노드들이 서로 다른 노드들로 사용자 데이터 프레임을 동시에 전송 또는 수신할 수 있다. 네트워크 이용도에 있어서도 단일 채널 애드 혹 네트워크의 매체 접근 제어 프로토골 중 가장 우수한 것으로 알려진 DBTMA보다도 최대 25%정도 향상되었다.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented the Dual Band Dipole Antenna with Tapered Microstrip Balun for WLAN Access Point. Two dipole antennas with different resonant frequency and the antenna structure combined additional line were implemented for dual band performance. In order to feed the balun current, the tapered microstrip balun was used. Produced the Dual Band Antenna shows a special quality. The quality is that all VSWR is less than 1.5 in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands in 802.11 standards, and it profits not less than 1.7dBi having typical Dipole Antenna pattern the very "a form of 8"pattern and Omni-directional pattern.

  • This paper presents two dimensional receiving coils to provide hundreds of milli-watt power via inductive link to in vivo robotic capsules, whose orientation are practically undetermined. The wireless power transmission system consists of a transmitter powered by class E power amplifier, and a receiver with three dimensional antenna, rectifier, and voltage regulator. As the 2D lateral antenna construction is more critical for the receiving antenna, two types of 2D antennas are introduced and evaluated by theoretic and experimental analyses. Experimental results verifies that the cross-type construction show better directional performance for receiving power than the cylindrical one for the 2D antenna. The former could deliver the power homogeneously regardless of its orientation, with less than 20 % of variation from the possible maximum power.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크 라우팅 프로토콜에서의 경로탐색에서 중복 브로드캐스트 메시지에 의한 비용이 증가되고, 많은 노드들이 동시에 통신을 시도하기 때문에 많은 충돌이 발생한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 Directed Diffusion 라우팅 방법에 지향성 안테나를 도입하여 채널 이용율을 높여 통신에서의 충돌을 줄이고 네트워크 구성 및 유지 시 사용될 flooding의 범위와 노드간의 통신시 불필요한 방향으로의 통신을 최소화하여 중복되는 브로드캐스트 메시지 수를 줄일 수 있는 라우팅 방법을 제안한다.
