Effect of HF and Plasma Treated Glass Surface on Vapor Phase-Polymerized Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) Thin Film : Part II

  • In this study, in order to investigate how consecutive treatments of glass surface with HF acid and water vapor/Ar plasma affect the quality of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane self-assembled monolayer (APS-SAM), poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) thin films were vapor phase-polymerized immediately after spin coating of FeCl3 and poly-urethane diol-mixed oxidant solution on the monolayer surfaces prepared at various treatment conditions. For the film characterization, various poweful tools were used, e.g., FE-SEM, an optical microscope, four point probe, and a contact angle analyzer. The characterization revealed that a well prepared APS-SAM on a glass surface treated with water vapor/Ar plasma is very useful for uniform coating of FeCl3 and DUDO mixed oxidant solution, regardless of HF treatment. On the other hand, a bare glass surface without APS-SAM but treated with HF and water vapor/Ar plasma generally led to a very poor oxidant film. As a result, PEDOT films vapor phase-polymerized on APS-SAM surfaces are far superior to those on bare glass surfaces in the quality and electrical characteristics aspects.

A Sphingolipid and Tyrosinase Inhibitors from the Fruiting Body of Phellinus linteus

  • This paper for the first time reports the isolation of 5 compounds from Phellinus linteus. A sphingolipid (1) and two tyrosinase inhibitory compounds (2, 3) along with two carboxylic acids (4, 5), were isolated from the fruiting body of Phellinus linteus (Berk & Curt) Aoshima. The structure of compound 1 was identified as 1-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl-(2S, 3R, 4E, 8E)-2-[(2R)-2-hydroxyhexadecanoylamino]-9-methyl-4,8-octadecadiene-1,3-diol, known as cerebroside B, based on spectroscopic methods such as 1D and 2D NMR as well as by acid hydrolysis. Compounds 2-5 were identified as protocatechualdehyde (2), 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde (HMF) (3), succinic acid (4), and fumaric acid (5) based on the spectroscopic evidence. Compounds 2 and 3 inhibited the oxidation of L-tyrosine catalyzed by mushroom tyrosinase with an $IC_{50}$ of 0.40 and 90.8 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL, respectively. The inhibitory kinetics, which were analyzed by the Lineweaver-Burk plots, were found to be competitive and noncompetitive inhibitors with a $K_{j}$ of 1.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 1.4 mM, respectively.

Membranes of Polyurethanes Containing Crystalline Soft Segments: Oxygen Permeability and Morphology

  • In order to look for polymeric materials applicable to the oxygen electrode membranes of biosensors, polyurethanes (PUs) were synthesized from poly(butylene succinate) diol (Mn 1150), poly(ethylene glycol) (Mn 200), and 4,4'-methylenebis(cyclohexyl isocyanate). The PUs (Mn 15000-100000) underwent the crystallization and melting transitions in the temperature range of 20-30 $^{\circ}C$ and 90-110 $^{\circ}C$, respectively. The oxygen permeability for the PU membranes prepared by the solution casting method could not be measured since oxygen simply leaked through the membranes with an audible noise. However, when the PUs were blended with carboxylated poly(vinyl chloride) (CPVC), the permeability could be measured. The oxygen permeability coefficient (Po2) of the PU/CPVC $(96}4)$ membranes (6.4 Barrer) was high enough for the application as the electrode membranes. The Po2 decreased dramatically when the CPVC content increased from 4 to 5 wt%, but decreased very slowly and approached to that of CPVC (~0.26 Barrer) when the CPVC content increased further. The scanning electron micrographs of the membranes revealed that the PU membranes were composed of large crystal grains with many pores, but the size of the PU crystal grains and pores decreased progressively with increasing the CPVC content.

안료 잉크 내 휴멕턴트의 화학구조와 첨가량이 염색 직물의 태에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Chemical Structures and Added Amounts of Humectants in Pigment Ink on Touch of Dyed Fabrics)

  • Humectants are chemical compounds which added to water based pigment inks for DTP (Digital Textile Printing) to prevent evaporation of water. The humectants usually have diol or triol type chemical structures and their -OH groups have possibility to react with functional groups of the binder polymers, such as ester, carboxylic acid, and urethane groups, acting as a crosslinking agent. The crosslinking reactions between polymer binders and humectants in inks can affect touch of the printed fabrics. In this regard, this study aims to investigate effect of chemical structures and added amounts of humectants in pigment ink on touch of dyed fabrics by using 1,6-hexanediol, ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, and 1,4-buthanediol with various amounts added to the mixture of a black pigment and a polyurethane type binder. Then, color, rubbing strength, touch of the fabrics dyed with the prepared pigment inks were evaluated.

지방산 유래 유해물질 관리 동향 (Trends for the management of hazardous substances derived from fatty acids)

  • More than 500 different compounds have been identified in the cooking process of frying oil as a result of chemical reactions such as oxidation, polymerization, hydrolysis and pyrolysis, 3-MCPDe(3-Monochloropropane -1,2-diol ester) and GE(glycidyl ester) are also included in these compounds. When MCPDe and GE derivatives are absorbed into the body, they are converted into free forms by lipase enzymes, which turn into 3-MCPD and glycidol(2,3-epoxy-1-propanol), respectively. These exhibit genotoxic and carcinogenic effects. As the toxicity of 3-MCPDe and GE is known worldwide, the health risk is being researched. However, regulations have not been established in countries other than the European Union(EU). Several studies for the analysis of 3-MCPDe and GE are being conducted, and direct methods and indirect methods are applied. As a result of analyzing 3-MCPDe and GE contained in commercially available foods by various analysis methods, the content of 3-MCPDe in baby food/infant formula was ND~600 ㎍/mL and GE was ND~750 ㎍/mL. and purified vegetable oils and fats showed <250-8,430 ㎍/mL and 1,880-9,530 ㎍/mL. Thus, 3-MCPDe and GE were detected in various food types, several studies for the reduction of 3-MCPDe and GE are being conducted around the world.

Influence of Inhibitors on the Corrosion of Al and Al-composites in Chloride-containing Solutions - A Review

  • Corrosion is a natural, inevitable process, and is one of the world's most serious problems. Losses incurred due to corrosion are extremely expensive for society. Several technological strategies have been explored and implemented to address these losses. The use of inhibitors to prevent corrosion is a common and efficient method to reduce corrosion losses. This review covers Al and Al-composite corrosion inhibitors in chloride-containing solutions, because of their popularity in a broad array of industrial applications. A vast number of studies in the literature detail the common tendency of Al and Al-composites with reinforcements to deteriorate. Accordingly, it is worthwhile to employ inhibitors to protect them, as discussed in the present work. The emphasis is on selecting the smartest corrosion inhibitor and evaluating its performance. According to the study, the most commonly used corrosion inhibitors are 1,4-naphthoquinone (NQ), 1,5-naphthalene diol, 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol (ATAT), ammonium tetrathiotungstate, clotrimazole, amoxicillin, antimicrobial and antifungal drugs. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic (PDP), and weight loss were among the most commonly used modern electrochemical technologies to test inhibitors' efficacy under environmental conditions.

생약석곡(Dendrobii herba)의 생리활성 성분 규명 (Phytochemical Identification of Bioactive Constituents of Dendrobii herba)

  • Two new phenanthrenes, namely, (1R,2R)-1,7-hydroxy-2,8-methoxy-2,3-dihydrophenanthrene-4(1H)-one (1) and 2,7-dihydroxyphenanthrene-1,4-dione (2), were isolated from the ethyl acetate-soluble fraction of Dendrobii Herba, together with the eleven known compounds, densiflorol B (3), 6,7-dimethoxyphenanthrene2,5-diol (4), dehydroorchinol (5), 1,5,7-trimethoxy-2-phenanthrenol (6), denthyrsinin (7), ephemerantol A (8), lusianthridin (9), moscatilin (10), gigantol (11), 3-[(1E)-2-(3-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]-5-methoxyphenol (12) and (-)-syringaresinol (13). Structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated by analyzing 1D and 2D NMR as well as HR-ESI-MS data. The absolute configuration of compound 1 was confirmed by ECD spectroscopic method. In cytotoxicity evaluation using FaDu human hypopharyngeal squamous carcinoma cell line, compounds 3-6, 8, 10 and 12 showed activities, with IC50 values ranging from 2.55 to 17.70 μM. Among them, compound 10 exhibited remarkable cytotoxic activity with IC50 value of 2.55 μM. This is the first report on the anticancer mechanistic study of compound 10 in HNSCC including FaDu cells.

염화갈륨, 인듐 및 탈륨 함유 이분자형 키랄 살렌 촉매에 의한 라세믹 알킬 글리시딜레이트 유도체의 비대칭 가수분해반응 (Hydrolytic Kinetic Resolution of Racemic Alkyl-glycidyl Derivatives by using Dimeric Chiral Salen Catalyst Containing Ga, In and TlCl3)

  • 키랄성 말단기의 에폭사이드는 키랄중간체나 여러 출발물질로서 다양하게 이용되기 때문에 입체선택적인 합성방법은 학술적으로나 산업적인 관점에서 대단히 흥미롭다. 본 연구에서는 염화갈륨, 인듐 및 탈륨을 함유한 2분자형의 키랄성 코발트 살렌 촉매를 새로이 합성하고 그 특성을 평가하였다. 촉매가 2분자형을 갖는지의 직접적인 증거를 질량분석과 EXAF분석을 통하여 제시하였다. 합성한 촉매는 여러 종류의 에테르 및 에스테르 그룹을 함유한 에폭사이드 유도체의 가수분해의 속도차에 의한 비대칭 고리열림반응에 적용하여 그 활성과 선택성을 조사하였다. 합성이 용이한 2분자구조의 살렌착체 촉매는 물을 친핵체로 하는 라세믹 에폭사이드의 고리 열림을 통하여 99%ee 이상을 나타낼 정도의 매우 높은 광학선택성을 보였다. 2분자형의 살렌 촉매는 단분자형의 촉매에 비하여 촉매량을 적게 첨가하여도 현저히 향상된 촉매활성을 나타내었다. 본 연구에서 적용한 촉매시스템은 키랄 에폭사이드 및 1,2-디올 중간체의 제조에 매우 효과적이었다

Cisplatin Combined with Metformin Inhibits Migration and Invasion of Human Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cells by Regulating E-cadherin and MMP-9

  • Metformin has been shown to be useful in reducing insulin resistance by restoring sensitivity. Recent evidence suggests that metformin might also possess anti-tumour activity. This study aimed to investigate the effects of cisplatin combined with metformin on the proliferation, invasion and migration of HNE1/DDP human nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells, and to provide a new target for treating metastasis. The MTT assay was used to assess viability of HNE1/DDP cells after exposure to different concentrations of 2, 5-diaminopyrimidine-4, 6-diol (DDP; 2, 4, 8, 16, and $32{\mu}mol{\cdot}L^{-1}$), metformin (5, 10, 15, 20, and $25{\mu}mol{\cdot}L^{-1}$), and $4{\mu}mol{\cdot}L^{-1}$ of DDP combined with metformin. Wound healing and transwell migration assays were performed to assess cell migration and invasion, and expression of E-cadherin and MMP-9 was detected using Western blotting. MTT assay results showed that DDP could inhibit the proliferation of HNE1/DDP cells in a time- and concentration-dependent manner, with an IC50 of $32.0{\mu}mol{\cdot}L^{-1}$ at 24 h (P < 0.05), whereas low concentrations of DDP had almost no inhibitory effects on cell invasion and migration. DDP combined with metformin significantly inhibited cell invasion and migration. In addition, genes related to migration and invasion, such as those of E-cadherin and MMP-9, showed differential expression in the NPC cell line HNE1/DDP. In the present study, with an increasing concentration of metformin, the expression of MMP-9 was downregulated whereas that of E-cadherin was significantly upregulated. Taken together, our results show that cisplatin combined with metformin has effects on proliferation, invasion, and migration of human NPC cells.

불포화폴리에스테르 수지/실록산-에스테르 공중합체 블렌드의 표면특성 (Surface Properties of Unsaturated Polyester Resin/Siloxane-ester Copolymer Blends)

  • 불포화폴리에스테르 수지의 표면에너지를 저하시키기 위하여 실록산-에스터 공중합체를 소량 첨가하였다. 실록산-에스터 공중합체는 diol로써 ethylene glycol(EG)과 hydroxy terminated polydimethylsiolxane(PDMS)을, diacid로써 maleic anhydride (MA)와 phthalic anhydride (PA)를 축중합반응 시켜 합성하였다. 경화된 블렌드의 표면성질은 동적접촉각(dynamic contact angles)측정, 점착테이프의 peel 강도측정 및 X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ESCA)등을 통하여 분석하였다. 블렌드에서 공중합체의 첨가량이 증가하고, 공중합체내의 PDMS 함량이 증가함에 따라 물에 대한 advancing 접촉각 및 receding 접촉각이 증가하였으며, 점착테이프의 peel 강도는 급격히 감소하였다. ESCA 분석결과 실록산 세그멘트가 공기쪽 표면층에 주로 존재하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
