Culture Influence on Enterprise Planning Resource (ERP) Implementation In Saudi Arabia's Public Sector

  • Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is widely adopted among enterprises and organizations. In recent years, researchers have become increasingly interested in factors related to ERP implementation success. In this paper, top management members, IT professionals, and end-users were interviewed in the study. The study used Hofstede's main cultural dimensions as a theoretical framework to identify cultural characteristics and their influence on ERP implementation within public organizations in Saudi Arabia. The study followed a qualitative methodology approach to carry on the study to investigate the national culture characteristics in Saudi Arabia that may influence ERP implementation success. The study found some culturally related factors that could influence success in ERP implantation projects in Saudi Arabia..

  • The social responsibility of fashion companies has become a crucial factor considering company image and awareness. Businesses have thus increased their CSR activities. However, few studies have shown clear and consistent results regarding the effectiveness of CSR activities. Therefore, this study focuses on the evaluation of the direct effect of CSR on trust and corporate reputation including its moderation by consumer's perceived fit and motivation. A total of 284 completed questionnaires were obtained from adult consumers in the fashion market with promotional leaflets for CSR activities as stimuli. The results were as follows. First, the dimensions for CSR activities were categorized as follows: Social welfare responsibility, environment protection, economic responsibility, social regulation compliance, customer protection, and culture and arts support. Further social regulation compliance, and economic and social welfare responsibilities positively affected corporate trust and reputation. Second, the main effect of perceived CSR activities and fit on corporate trust and reputation was significant, and the interaction effects of the social welfare, environment protection, and culture and arts support of CSR activities and fit were significant. Finally, the interaction effect of perceived CSR activities and motivation on corporate trust and reputation was not significant, but the main effect was significant. Implications of how to manage and enhance the effectiveness of CSR activities are offered.

The Impact of Cross-Cultural Differences on Human Resource Management in Korean-Invested Enterprises in China

  • Purpose - In terms of human resource management, many Korean enterprises in China have experienced problems such as frequent resignations of Chinese employees and labor disputes. This can be mainly attributed to the fact that Chinese employees are not consistent with Korean vertical management methods, which is closely related to the national culture theory proposed by Hofstede, specifically the dimension of power distance and long- versus short-term orientation (LTO). Therefore, this research aims to investigate cultural differences between Korea and China from these two dimensions, and the impact on the human resource management of Korean-invested enterprises in China. Design/methodology - This research first utilizes the latest data (Wave 7) of the World Values Survey (WVS) to verify the difference in power distance and long- versus short-term orientation between Korean and Chinese cultures using responses from Korea and China, and then uses case analysis to analyze the impact of this cultural difference on the human resource management of Korean enterprises in China. Findings - Our main findings can be summarized as follows. Korea and China have significant differences in power distance and long- versus short-term orientation. In terms of power distance, Korean respondents show higher power distance compared to Chinese respondents. In the dimension of long- versus short-term orientation, it was found that Chinese respondents showed a shorter-term orientation, whereas Korean respondents showed a longer-term orientation. Originality/value - Previous studies put focus on the power distance and individualism-collectivism dimensions to explain cultural differences between Korea and China, and generated contradictory results. This research further confirms the cultural differences between Korea and China from the dimensions of power distance and long-versus short-term orientation using secondary data. The comparative studies from this perspective have long been underexplored and lack empirical confirmation.

  • 최근 기업 경영환경의 변화에 대응하기 적합한 조직문화로 주목받고 있는 애자일 문화의 특성을 검토하고 리더십, 애자일 문화, 조직지원인식(POS)의 역할과 상호 관계를 밝히고자 하였다. 연구는 농협중앙회 및 산하의 자회사 직원들을 대상으로 진행하였고, 연구모형 검정에는 주로 SmartPLS 3.3.2를 사용하였다. 연구결과, 서번트리더십과 진성리더십은 모두 POS에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤고, POS는 애자일 문화의 모든 하위차원(권한위임, 지속적인 학습, 집단지성)에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 POS는 위의 두 가지 리더십이 집단지성과 권한위임에 미치는 영향을 매개하였으나, 지속적 학습과의 관계에서는 매개 효과가 없었다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 애자일 문화를 구축하기 위해서는 애자일 문화에 적합한 리더십과 조직지원에 대한 직원들의 확신이 매우 중요하다는 것을 시사하고 있다.

E-learning in India and Sri Lanka: A Cross-Cultural Study

  • E-learning is a planned effort towards providing interactive and experiential learning having flexibility in terms of time, place, pace, participation and accessibility. Globalization has set the stage for a social transformation of the world economy driven by technological innovation, emphasizing knowledge-based processes. While the tertiary education enrolments in wealthy nations have gone up incrementally, the same cannot be said to be right about developing economies. E-Learning can streamline enrolments to higher education, in developing nations by being a cost-effective and flexible alternative. The objective of this paper is to draw attention to the similarities in the national culture of these two countries and compare students' perception on e-learning in India and Sri Lanka along eight dimensions viz., viability, dependability, flexibility, inclusivity, power, pertinence, challenge and equitability. The results reveal that e-learning is equally popular among students from both countries, and they have a high perception score towards e-learning on each of the measured eight dimensions. Hence results are indicative of an opportunity of tapping the potential of e-learning in reaching out to a broader audience of underprivileged students and onboarding them into the knowledge economy.

충북지역 학교급식의 만족도 분석 (An Analysis on the Satisfaction with the Quality of School Foodservice in Chungbuk Province)

  • The purposes of this study were to identify the students’ perception and to evaluate the satisfaction with the quality of school foodservice in Chungbuk Province. A questionnaire survey of 900 students was conducted and 370 completed questionnaires were available for the purpose of the statistical evaluation. Statistical analyses were performed on the data utilizing the SAS V8.2 program. Importance, performance and satisfaction scale were composed of 5-Likert scales. The main results of this study were summarized as follows: The degree of importance and performance on twenty three attributes and the degree of satisfaction with four dimensions and overall satisfaction were measured according to type of school, location of school, place for eating, type of foodservice system and type of foodservice operation. The importance score was significantly higher than the performance score at all quality attributes except for the food appearance. The performance score of ‘waiting time’ and ‘atmosphere’ was less than 3 point out of 5 scale. The average satisfaction score for the quality dimensions of food, sanitation and service was 3.35, 3.19 and 3.10 point out of 5 scale, respectively. The satisfaction score for dimension of environment was 2.93 point out of 5 scale. The score for overall satisfaction was 3.27 point out of 5 scale. The satisfaction score for elementary school foodservice management was significantly higher than middle and high school foodservices. The satisfaction score for commissary foodservice operations was significantly higher than conventional foodservice operations. Using survey results as a base, the dieticians of school foodservice are required to meet the needs of the students and increase students’ satisfaction.

패션제품의 숫자 결합 상표명에 대한 이미지와 태도에 관한 연구 (Image and Altitude on the Alpha-Numeric Brand Name of Fashion Products)

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the images on the alpha numeric brand name of fashion products, to identify the influences of clothing pursuit benefit on the brand name image and to determine the significant images on the attitude and purchasing intention. The data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire from 270 male and female students of undergraduate school in Kyongnam province during the March, 2004. Using SPSS 12.0 package, Cronbach's a, frequency analysis, factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed. The results could be summarized as follows: First, the image dimensions of alpha-numeric brand name were composed of natural, new, active, urban, impactive and interesting image. Clothing pursuit benefits were composed of the brand value, attractiveness, fashion, individuality and economic value pursuit, Second, Clothing pursuit benefits had an significant effect on the image preference of alpha-numeric brand name. Especially, individuality pursuit and attractiveness pursuit have influenced on the natural, new, active, urban images. Third, the new, active, impactive, natural images had significant effects on the attitude, purchasing intention and conformity of products.

Scenic Image Research Based on Big Data Analysis - Take China's Four Ancient Cities as an Example

  • This paper aims to compare the scenic images of four ancient Chinese cities including Lijiang, Pingyao, Huizhou and Langzhong, so as to provide specific development strategies for the ancient cities. In this paper, the ancient cities' scenic images are divided into three sub-indexes and eight evaluation dimensions. Based on this, the study first uses Python software to collect tourists' online comments on the four ancient cities. Then, the social network analysis method is used to build a high-frequency keywords matrix of tourist comments and the R language is used to generate a visual network graph. After this, the entropy weight method is used to determine the weights and values of eight evaluation dimensions. Finally, the tourists' overall satisfaction indexes of the four ancient cities are calculated accordingly. The results show that (1) the overall satisfaction of Lijiang is the highest, while that of Huizhou is the lowest; (2) from the weight of each evaluation dimension, it can be seen that tourists care more about the national culture and historical culture; (3) from tourists' satisfaction index on each evaluation dimension of the four ancient cities, we can find that the four ancient cities has their own advantages and disadvantages in tourism development. (4) local tourism-related institutions should strengthen their advantages and improve their deficiencies so as to enhance tourists' overall image of the ancient city.

낙관주의 관점에서 본 NPC의 대화 내용 분석 -<메이플스토리>를 중심으로 (The study of optimism through the dialogue in NPC)

  • 본 논문은 학습된 낙관주의 관점에서 '메이플스토리' NPC들의 대화 내용을 분석하였다. NPC의 대화는 게임 이용자들의 재미와 성취욕구 부여에 큰 역할을 하며, NPC와의 반복적이고 장기적인 대화는 유저의 사고에도 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 학습된 낙관주의 설명 양식의 핵심적인 2가지 차원인 영속성과 파급성의 요소를 활용하여 분석한 결과, NPC들의 낙관주의적 언어 사용 비율은 대략 6~7%로 확인되었다. 낙관적인 대화성향을 지닌 NPC와 지속적인 소통은 게임 해비유저에게 유사한 사고를 학습할 기회를 부여할 수 있어 향후 NPC인공지능 개발시 중요한 고려사항임을 확인하였다.

행정정보공동이용제도의 개선방안에 관한 연구 (Enhancing Information Sharing in the Public Sector: An Empirical Study)

  • 행정정보공동이용은 정부의 효율성과 국민의 편의를 제고하기 위하여 매우 중요한 제도 중 하나이다. 그러나 행정 정보공동이용은 부처 간 이견조정기능 미흡, 관련 법률의 정비 필요성 등 다양한 비판에 직면하고 있어 이의 해결이 시급한 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 지난 2005년부터 시행된 행정정보공동이용제도를 평가하고, 문제점을 개선하기 위한 정책대안을 제시하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 담당 공무원, 교수, 일반기업 직원, 연구기관 연구위원 등 전문가들을 대상으로 설문 및 인터뷰조사를 실시하였다. 연구조사는 문헌분석, 정부사업분석, 전문가회의 등을 통하여 개발되었으며, 연구분석틀과 일치하도록 조직, 기술, 문화, 관리, 정책, 법률 등 여섯 가지 측면으로 구성되었다. 연구 결과 추진체계의 조직구조상 단점 극복, 공유추진단의 자체 데이터베이스 구축, 정보유통방식의 혁신, 관련 문화의 개선, 대상정보 및 이용기관의 지속적인 확대, 활용도가 많은 정보에 대한 제공의무 신설, 행정정보공동이용법의 재추진 등이 필요한 것으로 밝혀져 이와 관련된 정책대안을 제시하였다.
