It is very difficult to capture the multi-dimensional phenomena such as asymmetric flow and temperature distributions with the one-dimensional (1D) model, obviously, due to its inherent limitation. In order to overcome such a limitation of the 1D representation, many state-of-the-art system codes have equipped a three-dimensional (3D) component for multi-dimensional analysis capability. In this study, a standard multi-dimensional analysis model of APR1400 (Advanced Power Reactor 1400) has been developed using TRACE (TRAC/RELAP Advanced Computational Engine). The entire reactor pressure vessel (RPV) of APR1400 has been modeled using a single 3D component. The fuels in the reactor core have been described with detailed and coarse representations, respectively, to figure out the impact of the fuel description. Using both 3D RPV models, a comparative analysis has been performed postulating a double-ended guillotine break at a cold leg. Based on the results of comparative analysis, it is revealed that both models show no significant difference in general plant behavior and the model with coarse fuel model could be used for faster transient analysis without reactor kinetics coupling. The analysis indicates that the asymmetric temperature and flow distributions are captured during the transient, and such nonuniform distributions contribute to asymmetric quenching behaviors during blowdown and reflood phases. Such asymmetries are directly connected to the figure of merits in the LBLOCA analysis. Therefore, it is recommended to employ a multi-dimensional RPV model with a detailed fuel description for a realistic safety analysis with the consideration of the spatial configuration of the reactor core.
This study tried the 1st, 2nd dimensional numerical analysis according to the pier's shape, size and installing method in order to compare the depth of scour calculation method using the variables calculated by using the 2nd dimensional numerical analysis with the calculated depth of scour value by using the calculated variables by using the 1st dimensional numerical analysis. And then verified the problems occurring when the depth of scour is calculated by using the calculated values by using the 1st dimensional numerical analysis, as calculating the deviation depending on it.
This paper presents analysis of the flows through three different types of radial compressor impeller by using quasi-three-dimensional analysis method. The method obtains two-dimensional solution for velocity distribution on meridional plane, and then calculates approximately the static pressure distributions on blade surfaces. Finite difference method is used for the solutions of governing equations. The compressors have low level compression-ratio and 12 straight radial blades with no sweepback. The results are compared with experimental data and the results of inviscid analysis with finite element method. It can be concluded that the agreement is good for the cases where viscous effects are not dominant.

In this study, three-dimensional rotordynamic analyses have been conducted using equivalent beam, hybrid and fun three-dimensional models. The Present computational method is based on the general finite element method with rotating gyroscopic effects of a rotor system. General purpose commercial finite element code, SAMCEF which includes practical rotordynamics module with various types of rotor analysis methods and bearing elements is applied. For the purpose of numerical verification, comparison study for a benchmark rotor model with support bearings is performed first. Detailed finite element models based on three different modeling concepts are constructed and then computational analyses are conducted for the realistic and complex three-dimensional rotor system. The results for rotor stability and mass unbalance response are presented and compared with the experimental vibration test conducted in this study.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of a degree of discretization in the direction of longitudinal dam axis on the results of three dimensional fill dam dynamic analysis. In this study, the three dimensional dynamic analyses of the existing 'H' dam which is modeled with a different degree of discretization were carried out. From these results, the fundamental frequency of the dam and the responses at the dam crest such as acceleration and settlement were compared and analyzed. It was concluded that the size of finite element discretized in the direction of the longitudinal axis mush be smaller than 1/8 of dam length in order to obtain the reasonable fundamental frequency and response of acceleration and mush be smaller than 1/10 in order to obtain the reasonable settlement behaviors from the three dimensional dynamic analysis of the fill dam.
Since various parameters including the welding conditions and material properties are involved in metal transfer, it is difficult to figure out the effects of each parameter. In this study, dimensional analysis in performed to reduce the number of the parameters and to reveal the effect of each parameter on metal transfer. Dimensionless parameters are derived based on the inertia force and surface tension, and their contributions on metal transfer are estimated by analyzing the calculated results using the volume of fluid (VOF) method. Among several dimensionless parameters, $N_{SE}(=$\mu$_{0}I^{2}/d_{w}${\gamma}$)$ which represents the ratio of the electromagnetic force to surface tension, is found to be appropriate to describe metal transfer and estimate the transition current. Predicted results of transition current and drop size are in reasonably good agreements with available experimental date which show the validity of proposed dimensional analysis.
Three-dimensional forging analysis becomes an inevitable tool to make design process more reliable and more producible. In this study, in order to make the investigation for three-dimensional forging analysis more conveniently and accurately, a new post processor was developed. For post-processing of multi-stage forging simulation, efficient data structure was proposed and applied by using STL. New file architecture was developed to handle successive and huge data efficiently, common in three-dimensional forging analysis. Since sectioning and flow tracing plays an important role in the investigation of analysis result, we developed an algorithm suitable for 4-node and 10-node tetrahedron. This flow tracing algorithm can trace and reverse-trace flow through remeshing. Developed program shows good performance and functionality. Especially, a big size problem can be handled easily due to proposed data structure and file architecture.
Under the dual pressure of population growth and land shortage, threedimensional development is the inevitable choice for cities in China. In such a scenario, a mixed-use complex has considerable potential in its realization and research. Based on space syntax and the three-dimensional visibility graph analysis, this paper describes the spatial and functional layout of the Shanghai Super Brand Mall and studies the relationship between spatial visibility and user behaviour through linear regression analysis and correlation analysis. This paper studies three different types of user behaviour, namely, path selection, staying selection, and store selection, and finds that spatial visibility and accessibility have different effects on user behaviour depending on the type and purpose of the activity. This paper reveals the influence of spatial and functional layout on user behaviour and puts forward the corresponding design strategy under the three-dimensional environment.
Large container carriers are suffering from lack of knowledge on reliable correlation allowances between model tests and full-scale trials, especially at fully loaded condition, Careful full-scale sea trial with a full loading of containers both in holds and on decks was carried out to clarify it. Model test results were analyzed by different methods but with the same measuring data to figure out appropriated correlations factors for each analysis methods, Even if it is no doubt that model test technique is one of the most reliable tool to predict full scale powering performance, its assumptions and simplifications which have been applied on the course of data manipulation and analysis need a feedback from sea trial data for a fine tuning, so called correlation factor. It can be stated that the best correlation allowances at fully loaded condition for both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional analysis methods are fecund through the careful sea trial results and relevant study on the large size container carriers.

The goal of this paper is to show how multivariate regression analysis with high-dimensional responses is facilitated by the response dimension reduction. Multivariate regression, characterized by multi-dimensional response variables, is increasingly prevalent across diverse fields such as repeated measures, longitudinal studies, and functional data analysis. One of the key challenges in analyzing such data is managing the response dimensions, which can complicate the analysis due to an exponential increase in the number of parameters. Although response dimension reduction methods are developed, there is no practically useful illustration for various types of data such as so-called large p-small n data. This paper aims to fill this gap by showcasing how response dimension reduction can enhance the analysis of high-dimensional response data, thereby providing significant assistance to statistical practitioners and contributing to advancements in multiple scientific domains.
