  • The relationship between the chemical structure and properties of UV-cured polyurethane acrylate films has been investigated. Studies have been made on the effects of the molecular weight of polyol, the types of polyol and diluents on the properties such as tensile properties and thermal properties. The glass transition temperature decreased with increasing the molecular weight of polyol. However storage modulus increased by using the diluent containing rigid structure and multifunctional acrylate monomers.

  • We investigated immunoactivity of ginkgolides (GLS), the primary active constituent of Ginkgo biloba leaves, against disseminated candidiasis due to Candida albicans. This fungus is a polymorphic opportunistic pathogen. BALB/c mice were induced neutropenia by intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of cyclophosphamide (CP) 24 hours before an i.p administration of GLS (2 mg/mouse) to the mice. Control mice received diluent (Dulbecco's phosphate saline solution; DPBS) instead of GLS. (omitted)

  • UV-curable polyurethane acrylate prepolymers were prepared from diisocyanates [isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), 2,4-toluene diisocyanate (TDI), or 4,4'-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate (H$_{12}$MDI)], diols [ethylene glycol (EG), 1,4-butane diol (BD), or 1,6-hexane diol (HD)], polypropylene glycol as a polyol. UY-curable mixtures were formulated from the prepolymer (90 wt%), reactive diluent monomer trimethylol propane triacrylate (10 wt%). and photoinitiator 1-hydroxycy-clohexyl ketone (3 wt% based on prepolymer/diluent). The effects of different diisocyanates/low molecular weigh dial on the dynamic mechanical thermal properties and elastic recovery of UV-cured polyurethane acrylate films were examined. The tensile storage modulus increased a little in the order of EG > BD > HD at the same diisocyanate. Two loss modulus peaks for all samples are observed owing to the glads transition of softs segments ($T_gh$) and the glass transition temperature of hard segments ($T_gh$). For the same diisocyanate, $T_gh$, decreased, however, $T_gh$ increased, in the order of HD > BD > EG. The elastic recovery also increased in the order of HD > BD > EG at the same diisocyanate. In case of same diols, $T_gh$ increased in the order of $H_12$MDl > TDI > IPDI significantly. The ultimate elongation and elastic recovery increased in the order of TDI > IPDI > $H_12$MDl at the same diol.l.

  • Thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) and nonsolvent induced phase separation (NIPS) were simultaneously induced for the preparation of flat PVDF membranes. N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) was used as a solvent and dibutyl-phthlate (DBP) was used as a diluent for PVDF. When PVDF was melt blended with NMP and DBP, crystallization temperature was lowered for TIPS and unstable region was expanded for NIPS. Ratio of solvent to diluent changed the phase separation mechanism to obtain the various membrane structures. Contact mode of dope solution with nonsolvent determined the dominant phase separation behavior. Since heat transfer rate was greater than mass transfer rate, surface structure was formed by NIPS and inner structure was by TIPS. Quenching temperature of dope solution also affected the phase separation mechanism and phase separation rate to result in the variation of structure.

  • The nitridation mechanism of Si by SHS at $Si-NaCl-NH_{4}Cl-NaN_3$ system was investigated in this work. It was revealed that NaCl as a diluent was helpful to the perfect nitridation reaction by retarding the growth of Si particle resulted from the melting of Si at the initial stage of the nitridation reaction. And $NH_{4}Cl\;and\;NaN_3$ formed NaCl through decomposition and combination, and the preheating of pellet was helpful to the nitridation reaction in this process. The main nitridation mechanism of this system was liquid-gas reaction. The optimum porosity of the pellet for the nitridation of ${\alpha}-Si_{3}N_4$ was $67-69\%$.

  • To research were procedure condition of cellulase and remove effect of endocarp of mandarine orange from the result obtained it could be summarize as follow. 1. Optimal conditions affecting the production of cellulolytic enzyme of Aspergillus saitoi are followings: optimal temperature $30^{\circ}C$ and optimal culture period 3days. 2. When mandarine orange was soaked in 10 fold diluent of enzyme(diluent of enzyme: mandarine orange=2 : 1) and reacted under $40^{\circ}C$ for 3.5-4hrs, it was most effective and available to the remove of endocarp, flavour, and lustre important to the canning process of mandarine orange syrup.

A Study on Determination of Iodine in Serum, Fresh Milk, and Feed Additive by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (유도결합 플라스마-질량분석법에 의한 혈청, 생우유 및 사료첨가제중 요오드의 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The total iodine is determined in serum, fresh milk and feed additive by ICP-MS. The preparation involves only a 25-fold dilution with a diluent by direct nebulization in the plasma. The diluent composition is $NH_4OH$(0.5% v/v)+$CH_3OH$(5% v/v) and the abundance of iodine is measured at m/z=127. The calibration curve was linear over the ranges $0-100{\mu}g/L$ with $R^2=0.99$ for iodine. The detection limit of this method is $0.084{\mu}g/L$ for iodine. The relative error range of milk powder SRM in optimum condition is 2.30%-4.73%. The concentration ranges of iodine in the serum, fresh milk, feed additive were $12.4-40.2{\mu}g/L$, < 0.01-3.11 mg/L, < $10^{-7}-2.60g/kg$ respectively.

Effects of Diluents and Cryoprotectants on Cryopreservation of Black Seabream (Acanthopagrus schligeli) Sperm (감성돔(Acanthopagrus schlegeli) 정자의 냉동보존에 미치는 희석액과 동해방지제의 영향)

  • Experiments were performed to obtain cryopreservation techniques of black seabream (Acanthopagrus schlegeli) sperm. For sperm collection, brood stock reared in recirculating seawater system and fed with the commercial feed during experimental period. The results indicated that following cryopreservation method in block seabream sperm could be employed. Post-thaw survival rate of sperm revealed the highest value ($80{\pm}1.4$%) in 3% sodium citrate as a diluent for the cryopreservation. Cryopreserved sperm diluted with 5.4% glucose showed the highest fertilization rate to the ovulated eggs. Glycerol was a better cryoprotectant than dimethyl sulfoxide in sperm cryopreservation : survival rate and fertilizing capacity of cryopreserved sperm were decreased according to increase of glycerol concentration and varied in renges of 0.8~59.3% and 32.5~69.4% with 5~30% glycerol, respectively. A few of cryopreserved spermatozoa showed the enlarged head with granulated chromatin and ruptured plasma membrane by freezing and thawing injuries compared with unfrozen normal spermatozoa.

  • An experiment was performed to obtain cryopreservation techniques of starry flounder (Platichthys stellatus) sperm. Milt obtained from 24 males were cryopreserved using two diluents, artificial seminal plasma (ASP) and Stein's solution (SS) with three cryoprotectants, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), methanol, and glycerol concentrated from 5% to 20%. Post-thaw sperm activity (motility and/or speed) revealed the highest in 10% DMSO and 15% methanol in ASP and SS as diluent. Motility and speed of cryopreserved sperm were decreased according to increase of glycerol concentration. To conclude, DMSO was a better cryoprotectant than methanol or glycerol for cryopreservation of starry flounder sperm. Glycerol was incongruent cryoprotectant because of toxic to starry flounder sperm. Most cryopreserved spermatozoa without cryoprotectant showed the enlarged head with granulated chromatin and ruptured plasma membrane by freezing and thawing injuries compared with unfrozen normal spermatozoa.

Effects of cryoprotectants and sucrose concentrations on the viability of aggregated mouse embryos frozen rapidly in liquid nitrogen vapour (동결보호제 및 Sucrose 농도가 급속동결한 마우스 집합배의 생존성에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of ethylene glycol, DMSO and glycerol as cryoprotectants and the effect of concentrations(0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0M) of sucrose in the diluent on the viability of the aggregated morulae frozen rapidly in liquid nitrogen$(LN_2)$ vapour were examined. The morulae were produced by aggregation of ICR and CBA mice embryos at 8-cell stage. Before freezing the embryos were equilibrated in 1.5M cryoprotectants+0.25M sucrose in oae-step or in 3.0M cryoprotectants+0.25M sucrose in two-steps. The embryos were pipetted into the freezing medium fraction of 0.25ml plastic straws. The straws were frozeu by directly transfer into $LN_2$ vapour(about lcm above $LN_2$) for 2 minutes, and then plunged into $LN_2$. After thawing the cryoprotectants were diluted with 0, 0.25, 0.5 or 1.0M sucrose solution. The post-thawed in vitro viability of the aggregated embryos was significantly dependent on the type and concentration of cryoprotectants in the freezing medium and also on the concentration of sucrose in the diluent. When the aggregated embryos were equilibrated in 1.5M cryoprotectants +0.25M sucrose in one-step and diluted with 0.5M sucrose after thawing, the survival rate of the embryo5 was significantly(p<0.05) higher in DMSO(62.5%) or ethylene glycol(52.2%) than in glycerol(33.3 %). In the case that the concentration of the cryoprotectants was raised to 3.0M in two-steps, thc higher survival rate of the embryos was obtained in ethylene glycol or glycerol than in DMSO followed by diluting them with 0.5 or 1.0M sucrose after thawing(p<0.01).
