In recently, one of the most interests is a field related with serious game. Most game users perform the first for the executing of tutorial before they use a serious game for the first time. But in most case, developers do not recognize importance of tutorial and they do not consider the type of user preference tutorial and make tutorials only as developer's intentions. In our study, we carry out investigation and analysis about type of providing tutorials in representative serious games. Also, we do a survey of users' preferences for types of tutorials. If developers use the result of our study and we can expect more convenient and good quality of tutorial development.
This paper describes the design and implementation of a network-adaptive N-screen game system to be used in cloud computing. The system we are considering needs to generate game video in a cloud server and transmit the video to multiple game devices over an in-home wireless network via a home game server. It is difficult to support multiple screens which have different resolutions with a single bitstream of game video. Therefore, we developed a new network-adaptive game-video extraction and transmission method using (1) scalable video coding and (2) Raptor code techniques. The simulation, conducted with real game-video, verified the efficiency of the proposed video streaming system.

In this era of convergence, which is characterized by the integration and combination of technology and industries, broadcasting and communications, offline and online, and devices and services, the content industry is also experiencing rapid changes including inter-genre exchange, the creation of new industries, and customized demand. Specifically, IT-based digital content industries such as the online game, e-book, mobile contents and web portal industries are no longer restricted to the boundaries of video, music and games but are being expanded into the realms of education, medicine, fashion and sports thanks to CT innovation of 3D, CG, AR/VR, VFX, etc. As such, various countries have come to recognize the convergent content industry as a new growth engine that will pick up where the IT industry left off, and are forming policies for its development accordingly. This research aims to optimize the system of content taxonomy which is currently genre-focused and unable to support technological development and convergence, and to discover and select star contents to be rigorously developed with governmental support. In this paper, 20 star contents in 8 areas were selected, and these are expected to create tremendous cultural and economic value through ongoing technological and industrial development.

Recently, a number of studies have drawn attention to purchasing online game items. Most of the studies are based on the assumption that consumers behave rationally. Accordingly, TRA- or value-based approaches have been mainly employed to understand the online purchases of game items. However, the purchasing behavior of consumers involves not only making rational decisions, but also making irrational decisions. Hence, their purchase behavior is affected by propensities for conspicuous consumption, impulsive consumption, and habitual consumption. Playing games can be highly addictive, and players often display such addictive behaviors. Our study explored both the rational and irrational factors in purchase behavior to understand how they are associated with purchasing game items. A total of 366 pieces of data were collected from Korean online game users through a survey. Regression analyses of the collected data showed that the behavior of buying game items was influenced not only by the intention to purchase which is a rational factor in consumption, but also by such irrational factors as habit, impulse, and ostentation which should be further emphasized in future studies.

This paper presents a new method for improving teaching aids with the design and development of a chemistry education platform - the Mixed Reality (MR) Chemistry Lab. Our system provides a new educational experience in which students can simulate a chemistry experiment in a virtual lab and interact with objects using Oculus Helmet-Mounted Displays (HMD) and hand controller devices. The proposed system aims to familiarize students with experimental procedures and safety knowledge before conducting actual experiments. Moreover, students will be able to observe microscopic atomic structure models in three dimensions. Our research also includes a five-part, quantitative evaluation system user tests perform using a quantitative questionnaire consisting of five items, including hardware equipment, immersion, education, interaction sense of control, and degree of difficulty. The evaluation results confirm that this system will be helpful to the educational experience of conducting chemistry experiments with scientific evaluation methods, and the proposed system is also expected to have a broad range of applications in many other subjects.
As the CG images in the films and the games are getting more realistic by the development of computer graphics, the requests of technique that can develop the various digital contents has also increased. However, the techniques developed for the studies and simulations of the ecological system and adaptation in the ocean, are insufficient compared with those on the ground. This paper propose a method of modeling to simulate the growth of ocean objects according to the variation of virtual ocean environment and the efficient metamorphosis based on the movement of the objects. By modeling the ocean objects with the anisotropic metacubes, it is possible to represent easily the growth and metamorphosis of fishes as the movement in the virtual environment of ocean.
In this paper, affection of jumping motion factors on visual effects are studied for game character's natural motion realization. First, 3 kinds of games that realize natural motions are selected and 4-types of characters jumping motions are captured from it. Then, the motions are measured using four fundamental principles of jumping as takeoff strength, landing impact, landing elasticity and flexibility, and measured in motion factors as time, distance, angle either. Finally, consistent characteristics of visual effects and motion factors on jumping motion are suggested. The study could be used to basic information for realization of character's natural jumping motion.
Currently digital contents such as games, animation and video art are produced and distributed actively. And moreover by the development of related industries, a variety genre of media is in the process of planning and production. However general-purpose tools such as MAYA and Soft Image do not provide the artists in terms of a variety of unique functions. Thus in this study, we analyzed and developed interface technologies that can help effectively in terms of animation scenario writing, storyboard simulation, rendering and pre-production of story board, interface technology for preview. By our designed simulate planning, people who not professional in the field of animation, can produce and preview animation easily.
Advances in 3D garment simulation technology contribute greatly to consumers becoming more immersed in movies and games by realistically expressing the garments the characters in the movie or game are wearing. The fashion industry has reached a point where it needs to maximize efficiency in production and distribution to go beyond time and space in order to compete on the global market. The processes of design and product development in the fashion industry require countless hours of work and consume vast resources in terms of materials and energy to repeat sample production and assessment. Therefore, the design and product development tools and techniques must aim to reduce the sample making process. Therefore, this study aims to study a case for comparing the real garment sample making process to the virtual garment sample making process. In this study, we have analysed the differences between the real and virtual garment making processes by choosing designated patterns. As we can see from the study results, the real and virtual garments generally are made through similar processes in manufacturing, while the time consumed for each shows great variation. In real garment making, scissoring and sewing require the greatest number of work hours, whereas in virtual garment making, most of the time was spent in the simulation process.
In November 2018, virtual pop band K/DA, with the use of holograms and actual K-pop girl group members, performed its debut album titled "POP/STARS" at the opening ceremony of the League of Legends S8 final, hosted by Riot Games. The fan culture that exists for real singers adapts itself to virtual bands, and K/DA, consisting of virtual characters, encouraging the production of user created content (UCC). However, this form of UCC is different from the most common one, meaning that this type of band generates another way of consuming content. Therefore, this study examines how K/DA's digital characters are transformed and reproduced by UCC and how the original producers' content differs from them. Firstly, the development of this study considers the open characteristics of UCC, such as user type, created motivation, created process, content type and sharing method. In the second part, the virtual idol Hatsune Miku and virtual band Pentakill will be analysed to understand UCC. Thirdly, K/DA will be analyzed as a case study based on three factors: created motivation, content type and sharing method. In this manner, this study aims to explain how UCC for virtual bands reproduce and consume original content and expand their commercial value.
