In this study, we describe the technique for deriving a digital elevation model (DEM) from a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) stereo image pair and apply it to an image pair over "Kwanak-san" in Seoul, Korea. This paper contains brief discussion of the use of stereo SAR to derive topographic data, description of the overall structure of the stereo SAR processing system, description of the site and SAR data used for the evaluation and the source of validation data, results of the stereo SAR processing, analysis and evaluation of their accuracy against map data, and finally summarizes the main highlights of the method used, comments and recommendations on its future implementation.
Synthetic stereo-pair of Landsat TM(Thematic Mapper) and shaded relief image from DEM(Digital Elevation Model) were digitally produced. They are very useful in optimizing the geological interpretability of the remotely sensed data.

In recent years, civil-engineering work is desired the terrain information to be more efficient in earthwork volume calculation. One method for collecting elevation data is LiDAR. Lidar data was used to produce rapidly an accurate digital elevation model of the terrain, compared with the conventional ground surveys, photogrammetty, and remote sensing. Raw Lidar data is combined with GPS positional data to georeference the data sets. Lidar data is edited and processed to generate surface models, elevation models, and contours. Here we can either create a Tin Volume Surface or a Gird Volume Surface. Triangulated Irregular Network(TIN) has complex data structure, but it can describe well terrain surface features. As we have seen, we search the efficiency for earthwork volume calculation using Lidar data. One conclusion we can draw from this study is that Lidar data is more accurate result than digital map in the calculation of earthwork volume.
In this paper, we are concerned with a 3D line segment extraction method by area-based stereo matching technique. The main idea is based on line fitting of elevation data on 2D line coordinates of ortho-image. Elevation data and ortho-image can be obtained by well-known area-based stereo matching technique. In order to use elevation in line fitting, the elevation itself should be reliable. To measure the reliability of elevation, in this paper, we employ the concept of self-consistency. We test the effectiveness of the proposed method with a quantitative accuracy analysis using synthetic images generated from Avenches data set of Ascona aerial images. Experimental results indicate that our method generates 3D line segments almost 7.5 times more accurate than raw elevations obtained by area-based method.
In this study, terrain classification, which was done by using the quantitative classification parameters and suitable interpolation method was applied to improve the accuracy of digital elevation models, and to increase its practical use of aerial photogrammetry. A terrain area was classified into three groups using the quantitative classification parameters to the ratio of horizontal, inclined area, magnitude of harmonic vectors, deviation of vector, the number of breakline and proposed the suitable interpolation. Also, the accuracy of digital elevation models was improved in case of large grid intervals by applying combined interpolation suitable for each terrain group. As a result of this study, I have an algorithm to perform the classification of the topography in the area of interest objectively and decided optimal data interpolation scheme for given topography.

This Study is about driving simulation after road design by 3D-GIS in digital elevation model from digital aerial photogrammetry. For designing roads efficiently it's very important to consider geographical features before design when analyze the view. Nevertheless, existing studies is mainly restricted in the mountainous, despite of using digital map or aerial photogrammetry and the study which used aerial photo in the area where the road designing is made really is not get executed. Therefore, this study will do 3D-road design and driving simulation by appling really road design data to topography, on the basis of digital elevation generated from aerial photogrammetry.

Informatization and visualization technology for real space is a key technology for construction of geospatial information. Three-dimensional (3D) modeling is a method of constructing geospatial information from data measured by various methods. The 3D laser scanner has been mainly used as a method for acquiring digital elevation data. On the other hand, the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which has been attracting attention as a promising technology of the fourth industrial revolution, has been evaluated as a technology for obtaining fast geospatial information, and various studies are being carried out. However, there is a lack of evaluation on the quantitative work efficiency and data accuracy of the data construction technology for 3D geospatial modeling. In this study, various analyses were carried out on the characteristics, work processes, and accuracy of point cloud data acquired by a 3D laser scanner and an unmanned aerial vehicle. The 3D laser scanner and UAV were used to generate digital elevation data of the study area, and the characteristics were analyzed. Through evaluation of the accuracy, it was confirmed that digital elevation data from a 3D laser scanner and UAV show accuracy within a 10 cm maximum, and it is suggested that it can be used for spatial information construction. In the future, collecting 3D elevation data from a 3D laser scanner and UAV is expected to be utilized as an efficient geospatial information-construction method.

This study aims to generate triangulated irregular network in a form of digital terrain model which is being increasingly used. In general, grid digital elevation model and triangulated irregular network are reasonable units for solving terrain problems. But, triangulated irregular network is an efficient alternative to grid digital elevation model because of their efficiency in storing data and their convenient data structure for accommodating irregularly spaced elevation data. Various methods represented for extracting triangulated irregular networks from grid digital elevation model, and then algorithm that get accurate results for triangulation with their data set was introduced. The new approach for triangulation in this study uses the Elevation and Changeable Distance criterion, and adding interpolation points and restricted constraint lines can generate triangulated irregular network which is more close to real surface. This made database efficient construction and could be used for many applications of geo-spatial information system.
The environment in urban are becoming worse and forest is being recognized the major part of city by the increase of population and facilities. This study was carried out to analyze topographic environment as the basis for reasonable management and utility of forest situated in Taejon city and its vicinities using Sandst-5 TM and digital terrain elevation data(DTED). Forest area was extracted by Landsat-5 TM data. Distribution of elevation, slope and aspect was derived from digital terrain elevation data. The research area to analyze ropographic environment for urban forest were Bomumsan, Bongsan, Kabhasan, Sikchangsan, and Kyechoksan. Forest, the largest area in Taejon covers 55.1% of totaf area. This is more 5 times than urban area. 70.8% of forest area in Taejon city is located in elevation of lower than 200m and 4.8% of that is located in elevation of upper than 400m. Distribution of elevation is 45.7% of total area for 100m to 200m in Kyechoksan and is 92.4% of total area for lower than 300m in Bomumsan. Elevation of upper than 300m is 20.4% of total area in Kabhasan and is 46.6% of total area in Sikchangsan. The slope of more 20 digree is over 50% of total area in every area except for Bonsan and 35.2% of total area in Sikchangsan and Kahasan than in Bomumsan and Kyechoksan.
A low cost personal computer and image processing S/W were empolyed to derive Digtal Elevation Model(DEM) of tidal flat from multitemporal LANDSAT TM images, and to create three-dimensional(3D) perspective views of the tidel flat on Komso bay in west coasts of Korea. The method for generation of Digital Elevation Model(DEM) in tidal flat was considered by overlapping techniques of multitemporal LANDSAT TM images and interpolations. The boundary maps of tidal flat extracted from multitemporal images with different water high were digitally combined in x, y, z space with tide in formation and used as an inputcontour data to obtain an elevation model by interpolation using spline function. Elevation errors of less than $\pm$0.1m were achived using overlapping techniques and a spline interpolation approach, respectively. The derived DEM allows for the generation of a perspective grid and drape on the satellite image values to create a realistic terrain visualization model so that the tidal flat may be viewed from and desired direction. As the result of this study, we obtained elevation model of tidal flats which contribute to characterize of topography and monitoring of morphological evolution of tidal flats. Moreover, the modal generated here can be used for simulation of innudation according to tide and support other studies as a supplementary data set.
