  • In modern times, X-ray imaging has become a necessary tool for early diagnosis, quality control, nondestructive testing, and security screening. X-ray imaging equipment generally comprises an X-ray generator and an image sensor. Most commercially available X-ray generators employ filament-thermionic electron-based X-ray tubes, thus demonstrating typical analog behavior, such as slow response and large stray X-rays. Furthermore, digital X-ray sources, which have been studied extensively using field electron emitters manufactured from nanometer-scale materials, provide fast and accurately controlled ultra-shot X-rays. This could usher in a new era of X-ray imaging in medical diagnosis and nondestructive inspections. Specifically, digital X-ray sources, with reduced X-ray dose, can significantly improve the temporal and spatial resolution of fluoroscopy and computed tomography. Recently, digital X-ray tube technologies based on carbon nanotubes, developed by Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, have been transferred to several companies and commercialized for dental imaging for the first time.

  • In order to maximize dynamic range and to minimize image lag in digital X-ray imaging, diminishing residual parasitic capacitance in photodiode in pixels is critically necessary. These requirements are more specifically requested in dynamic X-ray imaging with high frame rate and low image lag for industrial 2D/3D automated X-ray inspection and medical CT imaging. This study proposes duoPIXTM X-ray imaging sensor for the first time that is composed of reset thin film transistor, readout thin film transistor and photodiode in a pixel. To verify duoPIXTM X-ray imaging sensor, designing duoPIXTM pixel and imaging sensor was executed first then X-ray imaging sensor with 105 ㎛ pixel pitch, 347 mm × 430 mm imaging area and 3300 × 4096 pixels (13.5M pixels) was fabricated and evaluated by using module tester and image viewer specifically for duoPIXTM imaging sensor.

  • X-ray detection has widely been applied in medical diagnostics, security screening, nondestructive testing in the industry, etc. Medical X-ray imaging procedures require digital flat detectors operating with low doses to reduce radiation health risks. Recently, metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have shown great potential in high-performance X-ray detection because of their attractive properties, such as strong X-ray absorption, high mobility-lifetime product, tunable bandgap, low-temperature fabrication, near-unity photoluminescence quantum yields, and fast photoresponse. In this paper, we review and introduce the development status of new perovskite X-ray detectors and imaging, which have emerged as a new promising high-sensitivity X-ray detection technology. We discuss the latest progress and future perspective of MHP-based X-ray detection in medical imaging. Finally, we compare the conventional detection methods with quantum-enhanced detection, pointing out the challenges and perspectives for future research directions toward perovskite-based X-ray applications.

  • The radiologic imaging device was implemented. It can be installed in an ambulance or used when an accident happens. After an equipment which generates X-ray generating unit with a tube in DC 12[V] had been made, a trait experiment using an oscilloscope was made. An experiment was carried out where the generated X-ray was saved as a form of a file using a digital detector. In this experiment, as a result of generating X-ray and detecting it using a digital detector, 1.67[MB]-, jpg- radical rays information could be saved. One distinct advantage of the developed radiologic imaging device is the fact that we can efficiently deal with emergency cases too far from the hospital, difficult to diagnose but treat simultaneously. By using the radiologic imaging device at the urgent scene of an accident or in a moving ambulance, we can provide the patient's X-ray information with the emergency medical specialist who is in the emergent medical center and have the patients prescribed and treated appropriately. As a result the developed emergency medical treatment can be expected.

  • Many research group started study to develope x-ray detector using thin film transistor from 1970. But realization of TFT based x-ray detector development was caused by progress of thin film transistor liquid crystal display(TFTLCD) device technology in 1990. The main current of TFT technology is display device. Research results expend TFT technology field from display device to sensor manufacture technology. These days many research group in the world realize various digital x-ray detector. In this study, We compare discharge erasing method to visible light erasing method in a-Se based digital x-ray detector. Visible light erasing method is known reset process in direct conversion x-ray detector. Digital x-ray detector using visible light erasing method is not adaptive for conventional x-ray device, because of its thickness. And it is not avaliable for real-time imaging for digital fluoroscopy, because of its long reset time. In this study we overcome these limitations and show new idea for real-time imaging method.

  • The high bias voltage associated with the thick layer (typically 500-1000 ㎛) of selenium required to have an acceptable x-ray absorption in radiography and fluoroscopy applications may have some practical inconvenience. A hybrid x-ray detector with zinc sulfide-amorphous selenium structure has been developed to improve the x-ray sensitivity of a a-Se based flat-panel digital imaging detector. Photoluminescence(PL) characteristic of a ZnS:Ag phosphor layer showed a light emission peak centered at about 450 nm, which matches the sensitivity spectrum of selenium. The dark current of the hybrid detector showed similar characteristics with that of a a-Se detector. The x-ray sensitivity of hybrid and a-Se x-ray detector was 345 pC/㎠/mR and 295 pC/㎠/mR at an applied voltage of 10 V/㎛, respectively. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pertinence of a solution using a thin selenium layer, as a photosensitive converter, with a thick coating of silver doped zinc sulfide phosphor.

  • The properties of these detectors can be controlled by electronics and exposure conditions. Flat-panel detectors for digital diagnostic imaging convert incident x-ray images to charge images. Flat panel detectors gain more interest real time medical x-ray imaging. Active area of flat panel detector is $14{\times}17$ inch. Detector is based on a $2560{\times}3072$ away of photoconductor and TFT pixels. X-ray conversion layer is deposited upper TFT array flat panel with a 500m by thermal deposition technology. Thickness uniformity of this layer is made of thickness control technology(5%) of thermal deposition system. Each $139m{\times}139m$ pixel is made of thin film transistor technology, a storage capacitor and charge collection electrode having geometrical fill factor of 86%. Using the separate driving system of two dimensional mosaic modules for large area, that is able to 4.2 second per frame. Imaging performance is suited for digital radiography imaging substitute by conventional radiography film system..

  • In this study, the purpose is to verified the feasibility to develope Hybrid x-ray detector in order to resolve problems of direct and indirect x-ray detectors. The properties of X-ray detector depend on absorption of X-ray, charge generation by x-ray photon, leakage current. In this study, CdS was used as photoconductor, and $Y_2O_2S:Tb$ as x-ray phosphor was formed on CdS in order to embody Hybrid structure. And Screen printing was used to form Muli-layer. Characteristics of this specimen were analyzed by using SEM, and XRD. And Photoluminescence spectrum of $Y_2O_2S:Tb$, leakage current, with respect to applied voltages, output charge with respect to applied voltages, and X-ray sensitivity were measured. Also, linearity with respect to dose was measured. Leakage current was similar with direct digital x-ray detector, but sensitivity of the hybrid structure is much better than the single-layer structure.

  • At present, the study of direct digital X-ray detector and indirect digital X-ray detector proceed actively. But it needs high thickness and high voltage in selenium for high ionization rate. Therefore, we carried out the study of electric characteristics of a-Se with additive ratio of Iodine in drafting study for developing Hybrid X -ray Sensor for complementing direct digital X -ray detector and indirect digital X-ray detector in this paper. On this, there are formed Amorphous selenium multi-layers by sticking phosphor layer$(Gd_{2}O_{2}S(Eu^{2+}))$ using optical adhesives of EFIRON Co. Amorphous selenium multi-layers having dielectric layer(parylene) has characteristics of low dark-current, high X-ray sensitivity. So we can acquired a enhanced signal to noise ratio. We make Amorphous selenium multi-layers with $30{\mu}m$ thickness on glass.
